Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018
Evening
Rusty............watched the first two quarters and then started watching the film Elizabeth. There were so many young faces, like a young Daniel Craig...........ended up looking up the cast on the lappy. ..........saw there was 5 minutes to go in the news feed for the Superbowl. I took my phone to bed and kept on refreshing it. I'm a Patriot but don't let that come between us
Couldn't be doing with those temperatures..........I'd defo hibernate.
Jude58, I can give you a lend of mine.It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018
Well - we went to the funeral.
Came home from and young Satz acting 'elusive'.
Mr S copped before me that he had been drinking. He had been drinking beer earlier - he was bored.
Mr S went ballistic ...... 'cos young Satz wanted to know why his Dad can drink and he can't. Belligerent is the word for it.
What do I say to that ?
Army : do I need to throw him out ?
Answers on a postcard.Last edited by satz123; February 5, 2018, 05:55 PM.

A toe squarely placed up his backside. Pack him a bag, leave it at the bottom of the stairs.............time he joined the grown ups.
We'll be here for you and Mr S. As far as Mr S is concerned if he wants to drown himself in a bath tub full of gin its absolutely no business of his. AJ's just trying to justify his own drinking. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018
Well thank you for all the 30 day comments. It's come around really quickly...
As to the ironing - for me it's shirt by shirt, day by day, as part of the 22 minute get out of the house routine....
It's my weekend now - part of the boss's great "work/life balance" idea - so you finish work at stupid o'clock (home around 1 am) can't sleep straight away so watch catch up tv for a couple of hours, eventually get to bed and wake up around lunch time with half of your first 2 days off down the khazi.... I really must explain to him how you achieve the work/life balance - ie EARLY shift, 2 days off then LATE shift not the other way around! [exit rant mode!]
Anyway, good to get out dog walking this afternoon even with the wind-chill (near Nigg Bay RC - very breezy but not what your getting where you are now!)
I was thinking about the money saving aspect of drinking and I think it's right that we increase the food spend, both by quantity and quality, we treat ourselves with things like chocolate and so the money aspect is not very significant.... but the other aspects of sobriety far outway that...
Satz, I'm not going to pretend to know the answer on the drinking aspect - do you keep him where you can see him, or push him out where you can't? BIG question but the belligerence would do my head in - can't stand that and that, in itself, would make me act!
Going through references stage on the next prospective new house - and it's nicer than the previous one so fingers and toes crossed....

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018
Evening,
The older my kids get, the need a fiver for this, tenner for that, I wont even start on the activities! Not drinking keeps me in the black, 100% sure of that.
Satz.. I dont know what to say. What would you advise someone else in that situation? there you have your answer.
Great post JC..AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018
Morning troopers
satz123 - see wot JC said... and was Mary said - how would you advise someone in that situation - really good answers. Wot this VERY wise ladies have is that they have sprogs also. I don't... but there is something in young satz's argument of "if he can drink, why can't I?" which smacks of both denial and "woe is me". Excuse me if i is wrong, cos hate to talk about another's loved one when I don;t know them from Adam. But if I think about my own drinking compared to others - often a similar thought, of "well if they can drink, why can't I?" comes to mind. As well as the denial that there is, really, a problem. Or that there was, perhaps, an issue, but either I've sorted it or it wasn't really an issue and everyone , including me, is turning the proverbial mole hill into a mountain. It's a minds way of protesting "hang on this NOT drinking aint normal, I'm not some sorta invalid! I'm no different to dad/friends/other drinkers WHY CAN'T I DRINK??" Of course, you know this cos you is THE Doc, and I have no answers, but do think Mary's advice is worthy of a good thunk. If only he could take on his maw's SAGE advise and simply say to himself that he is not going to drink TODAY. To take it one day at a time. Is it youth (immaturity) that prevents someone from doing that?
Sorry, doc, bit of a ramble - just thinking of you.
Molls - wondered if I was getting my different baseballs and super bowls mixed up - !!
tonyniceday - good luck in getting that new house.
Big yawny-waves to the rest of youse -
