Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018

Mr S being okay with 'the odd drinking lapse' -- that's the equivalent of the time Joe tried the 'put the bottle on the table and we'll drink together' -- of COURSE we drank together - and then I drank in the kit hen and then I drank in the bedroom and then ....... well you get my gist... basically - drinking in ANY format doesn't work for an alcoholic..
Yes Molls I thought of that today. I'd remembered you saying that he made that concession so you'd you drink 'normally'.
So looks like we possibly have a few more phases to get through.

Anyway next instalment in the 'Satz Saga' :
Mr S driving to the local shop today. Who is walking - pissed- down the road ?
    Yes - his son.
This was 2pm - so had been drinking since morning.
He picked him up , refused to engage in conversation like we advised him, and deposited him at home.
    He's been in bed since.

    To be continued ...........

You went through the humialtion of your family pointing out your drinking was far from normal and decided to do something about it.......a couple of false starts and you were off and running. If he wants to talk, fine.........but not while he's hungover and feeling guilty or drunk.
Actually Jacks I had quit in July and the humiliation was in December in Australia. It was coming so early in my quit I had broken the dry spell to go on that holiday as I could not imagine going there and not drinking (like RC and the wedding )
      - so I did and HOW .....
I could feel the vibes from DD from the time we hit the Airport bar when I HAD to have a drink .... yuk :crying:

Or, when at my folks, as i've said umpteen times and you'll all be bored of reading again, i'd have some wine with dinner WITH them, a glass or two, no more... but then often would have a a beer or 3 stashed in my bag in the bedroom. .
        That was me!
I was so paranoid about being caught out, Id make it look like I could take or leave it, knowing I had something in reserve for later for a proper hit in peace. I did this for more than a decade..

Awww..... Molls, thanks for understanding. Love this forum, there is so much support along with some very colorful language! Are any of you near Galway or Killybegs? I was just curious as I have cousins there.

The ' hit in peace' was my MO for a long time - spose that's why the big bad world was oblivious to a problem - only ever had one too many in 'public' when everyone around me was more blathered than myself an no one would notice - hard work!!!!

No Judy - we live over East coast. But the country is so small we'd get to Galway in a 2 hour drive. Mr S's father is from Galway.
Killybegs is lovely - fresh fish - can't beat it - again about 3 hours from us .....
We once got Mackerel in Killybegs and forgot it was in the boot of the car for a week - we thought our neighbour had killed the wife & there was a dead body somewhere. :haha:

I believe instinct has kicked in here and I do not want to engage with the bullshit today. So I will tell him that when he comes out of his pit.

Thank God for the shit job I have - ( well the job is great - the people not so much - backbiting/two-faced bi*ch on daytime reception). I'm heading into my 7 days on and will be out of here for a lot of the time.

Satz, thinking of you and young S situation - I just hope he gets to his "point of realisation" soon and takes his own action to stop completely. I was going to go into more of this but I don't know that I can express it in a way that doesn't sound wrong...

Well it's hump day for most people but the start of my working week so off to take the dogs out for a quick walk before suiting and booting and back to town.

Toe Knee please do say what you are thinking. Offence never taken here believe me. I've learned from life that honesty & straight talking are best.
It's how the listener reacts to that honesty that matters.
When you get back - say it - if it sounds wrong - I'll read it to sound right - promise.

                                Afternoon..........

It's just I would have promised my soul and my first born grandchild to get people of my back when I was either half drunk or hungover.

Decided to nip out of the house first thing okay..........10ish and do a bit of shopping ..........nothing wild just dog chews, wool and a couple of birthday cards.........Ma-in-Law is 93 on Sunday. Just mooched around. Bewdiful bitterly cold day but wrapped up warm.

As Ma-in-Law's a wee bit frail ...........I'm off to see if I can get her some kind of indoor plants she can look after.........she misses gardening so much.
It could be worse, I could be filing.
