Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018

    Evening..
Delighted to hear young Satz talking like that.. a good step. Just shows you the positive influence you still have on your kids, even as adults - he sees you embrace life and wants a piece of it

    Poor you JC xxx

Really glad he's stopped!! I would still empty the shed tho!!!!
Yes Jilly and partner and baby will be in there from now tho she's in Sligo so it'll be just him for the mo

Hope the Aftercare lot got through to him - not just for another few weeks - I know you'd face such disappointment down the road in a month or two so now he truly needs to see the consequences of his actions - no harm to let him see the shed being emptied and the money being secreted - when I got back from treatment i was acutely aware that all the Christmas booze had been cleared from the house - that mortified me - it showed that the family had been talking about me behind my back and didn't trust me an inch - I knew I wouldn't drink again - but they didn't -
        Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

          Good morning Troopers!!

Jackie - hope you're feeling better!!

Satzy - what Molls said. I'd clear the shed too and make it known in no uncertain terms that there will be no booze in the house from now on. Let young Satz know that he has had his last chance - next time he'll be on his own. Perhaps going to aftercare with him would show your support but also make him realize that he has to go - for his own good and to still have a home to come home to. Your home, your rules. Simple as that. I know I sound tough, but you've put up with so much and he's been given many chances. IMVHO, he has to pull up his bootstraps and get very serious about this. He has already lost your trust, he could lose much more than that. I know he has to want to stop drinking in order to stop but harsh measures will make him realize the seriousness of his condition and perhaps give him food for thought. Again, best of luck. I know it isn't easy for you to go through this.

Hello to all - wishing you a great day!!!!

Came back from having to sleep-over at hotel (due to night porter being new, and, in my opinion, one step short of a p45) and nearly got blown over...never experienced wind like this in the uk, it's blowing stuff over...

Satz, all Stirly says is right but he also needs to not just want to give up the booze, but have a reason for doing so... what are his aims, his ambitions...what does he really want to achieve....can you talk to him about those things and see if the penny drops, that he cannot achieve those things while he is drinking? He must know he can't moderate and we all know that's a scary thing....the NEVER EVER having a drink ... is that part of the problem... what does HE say he wants?

I'm hoping the wind here dies down soon and I can get the dogs out without getting blown down! Then work at 3 - late shift again

Morning, back from docs. Not an infection PTL just fluid in the tube (eustachian tube ???) that's causing the discomfort .....ha fecking ha discomfort............it hurts  Any decongestion tablets, co-codamol and come back next week if its no better.

Satzuma, take the left over booze down to your rest home...........I know my Aunt's allowed a couple of glasses of wine in hers and I'm assuming some of them wouldn't mind a beer.

Molls, was having a think about when Jilly moves out (I know bless them, they haven't even moved in).............you could let it out as a holiday cottage............of course me and Mr JC get it for nothing as it was my brilliant idea.
It could be worse, I could be filing.
