Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018
PPPPPFFFFFRRRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHH
[RANT ALERT]
Feeling utterly shafted. Asked HT at work about when Heads of schools put in the numbers they need for the next academic year - openly angling for a FT position at our new school - with staff I have worked with for the last 3 yrs... to be told that I probably won't be there as she had a full compliment of FT staff. Like... FFS. AND a teacher is being brought in in a few weeks as FT - and because i'm PT it makes it difficult for them to just say "be FT here" as obviously that impacts on the there school...
Just feel that the HT has not considered/thought about the impact for her current staff (me) who have been committed to the school - does that stand for FUCK ALL nowadays?!?
Just want to drive far away and not come back.
Bugger bugger bugger bugger bugger....
[PAUSE]
...stomps feet...

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018
Oh Arsey - my heart goes out to you -- and I do know what you are talking about through Jilly -- FT positions in Ireland are like GOLD DUST -- despite the fact that the politicians tell us they are thousands of teachers short every year.. I think there's a lot of nudge nudge wink wink nepotism in the profession in this country anyway -
What can I say? Look after Arsey for himself and for his career - maybe think outside the box - try another area - is that possible? She has a year lined up from Sept as a substitute - but after that -- who knows? poxy it is and stomp away -- better stomping here than down to the pub xxxxxContentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018
RC, it’s because of people like this that Scott Adams has material to write Dilbert.
I was denied a promotion years ago because I was told I wasn’t the type of person the company wanted to see get ahead. Huh?, I asked. I was told that because I’m a white male with no visible disabilities it would be difficult to get promoted. So I quit! Best move I ever made. BTW I asked to get this decision in writing and was told it would never happen.
At one time, loyalty counted for something. From what I’ve seen since retiring, loyalty has disappeared. Both ways, from employee to employer and especially employer to employee.
I feel your frustration RC. It doesn’t sound fair. What can you do about it? Can you go to the decision maker to make your wants known?
But the best thing you can do is NOT drink! That would mean the b**stards won. Hang in there RC and feel free to vent here as much as you’d like.

Stayed up 'til nigh on 3am to watch the English lad in the skeleton and we got a bronze. :welldone:It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018
Thanks peeps - think I've diffused some of the sicky-raging-heated anger from earlier.
Binging on pretzels and The Good Place on netflix
JC - could only work down south if i get additional training - not too hard I think, could prob' do it on job, but just another thing to 'learn' - just cos the education systems are a bit different. Gonna look at what's about around these western shores over the next few weeks...
Thanks for your post QW - don't believe we've met yet? Hi, I'm Arsey. By name only.
