I know its allaboutme.com but I would appreciate your collective options on my working situation. Bearing in mind it is the first time I have been out in over 5 years and have to stay on till the job is done irrelevant of how long that may be it seems a little unfair. Did I mention I don't get paid overtime, just offered time off in lieu if I bring it up, obviously if I take that then I just end up having to get the same amount done in a shorter time so never bother. Two weeks ago I get a call at 6pm on a sat night and have to drive in, open up sort a problem which took about half an hour and the lock up again, bear in mind though that I am the only one who would know how to sort the problem so can hardly say no. I was surprised I even got a 'thank you' however.Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018
Morning,
Enjoy the walk rustop59, just back from a run - bit of a nip but its a beautiful fresh sunny day. icy cold weather on the way.. apparently.
Feels a bit spring like now - new plans and beginnings. Delighted to hear that young Satz is doing so well and Jenny too! JackieClaire... she's really done a complete turnaround..
Xpost Molly..
I was 30 sober for my first holiday, I was only a lurker at the time and didnt ask for support. Suffice to say, I had to start again. 2nd time around, the guilt of letting everyone here down, who had invested so much of their time to support me, probably carried me over the worst of it!!! tonyniceday, start preparing for that holiday now, you know you can do this. You can be Tony waking up every morning to ready to embrace the day Vs sad Tony, waiting for the bar to open to feel normal again on his holliers..
Scabby bastards Tabbers (a.k.a. KTAB). Glad your back to normal again. Are you dusting off that CV?
Great posts Crusader - your are doing brilliantly!AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Sorry, crossed posts with Molly and Tabbers! morning..
Molly, your description is exactly bang on. Holiday or home, I wasnt too interested in public sessions. At home, wine in hand, loads in the fridge and not have to talk to anyone. very sad.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

I have no idea what size your company is, but I imagine, if its a smaller company, you only have a handful of people to speak to about this, rather thank a large HR dept with policies and procedures etc.
Also, have you spoken to your line manager about all of this? the pay and expectations?AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018
I did my first (short) holiday with 3 friends to a wine region last year, I was 5 months sober (daft in hindsight) but I knew there was absolutely NO WAY I would drink or even consider it and it was grand. I couldn't believe how much more I enjoyed the holiday sober, maybe looking at my buddies, one of whom has a drink problem imo, through sober eyes was a revelation. Now if I had allowed even .0001% of maybe I will have just a glass of wine thinking before I left then the advice I would have been looking to hear would have been 'don't go' for it would have only ended one way. Although I didn't see it that way, at the time, I would given myself 'permission'.Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Re: Join the Army Against Alcohol-February 2018
Thanks Mary for taking the time to reply. Small company and recently let a couple go so things aren't good I know. HR dept no such thing. Respect, nope I am a means to an end I feel and the place is full of negativity from others who probably feel similar so not a healthy environment atm. I will check out Linkedin ta.
P.S. my personal phone, could visualise him turning up at my door if I didn't answer....Last edited by Tabbers (a.k.a. KTAB); February 25, 2018, 05:45 AM.Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?
