Re: Join up! Army against the grog!!! March 2018
And lots of food left even though I have been eating everything in sight, probably out of boredom. However there is even some kale and broccoli poking their heads out of the white blanket in the veg garden but it would seem a shame to eat em now....Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Good morning everyone. Still snowing here, massive drifts. Did a walk yesterday and wore his lordships snow shoes. Absolutely amazing, really enjoyed it. Enough food for another few days so just have to wait it out. Bought buttermilk when I saw them all queuing for bread so if worst comes to worst I’ll bake.

Didnt have buttermilk yesterday so just used milk for brownbread and it was grand! might make soda bread now that you have put that thought in my head Molls..
Ah JackieClaire, she's just excited.. probably doubting herself a bit after everything and had a snog and got a bit giddy! I think a large amount of slagging is called for (that'll teach her not to text you at 1am!).
Venturing out today.. Mr M has a vintage landrover, his 2nd love. I hate it, its like a tractor, but needs must.Last edited by IamMary; March 3, 2018, 06:33 AM.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Re: Join up! Army against the grog!!! March 2018
:egad: I NEVER texted my maw at 1am (tho tbh, that's not a time i see much off... unless i'm shuffling to the toilet)... though i do mind when blitzed on my 28th birthday phoning a friend at 3am... just because I was happy and staggeringly drunk and just wanted to chat (far too many whisky espressos that night...)
Run, done. Got snow away from car so can drive it, done. Read for MEd... a wee bit. Washing, done. Quick jaunt to Morrisons, done. Hmmm pretty boring really. How's yer Saturday's been? Baking bread? I ought to try Soda bread - can you freeze it? One thing that outs me off baking is that I am only one person (honest) so if making bread (which i aint done in years) i used to freeze it... but soda bread? Freezable?
Right... better either go read articles which have nothing to do with my masters... or read another chapter for my masters... or... piss about online...
Yup... you guessed right...

Re: Join up! Army against the grog!!! March 2018
course you can freeze it -- norra bother!
Well got to the shops - the Pavillions in Swords - got there early and by god it was busy - most shops shut - most car parks shut - but got the food - all of it achully - bit of a queue --- BUT -- coming out of the centre at about 12 noon - latherin heart - you would WANT to have seen the queues of people trying to get in -- it was just crazy stuff - was never so glad to be going in the opposite direction - but I did see the snow drifts - we got nothing like it up this far north - 10 miles down and a couple of miles in from the coast - there were like 6-8 foot drifts --
Sitting wee Eabha - giving the young pair a few hours out - always said I'd NEVER be a child minder - BUT - if I had to be one - she's the one I'd pick -- she smiles laughs eats and sleeps and really not a lot else.. she's amazing
now just had my dinner so may put the feet up - and no - I deffo never rang my mum at 1am -- I'd have been MURDERED!!!!Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011
contentedly NF since 8/04/14

Re: Join up! Army against the grog!!! March 2018
Morning
Thought for the day.
I emailed my maw last night for clarity and advice re a new job. I listed jobs going and pros/cons for each - these were jobs across Scotland. Some FT, some PT, permanent and temp'.
She replied to say, let's speak tomorrow (today) but that "where, or what, in any of this do you feel drawn?"
And this I find a difficult thing to answer. For part of me is drawn to the totally new, away from what I know here and equally part of me drawn to staying in the area - the "area" being anywhere between Glasgow and Helensburgh - they're 20miles apart... so it's not necessarily a specific town, though the draw is largely my connection with the am dram/singing group - new friends/potential friends and being asked to direct their next show.
Anyway, there are two jobs which are in a different part of Scotland - I'm attracted to them, drawn to them, I remember seeing them advertised last week and thinking, "hey, this looks good". Strathyre and Callander would mean a move to the area - leaving the group in Helensburgh - and so creating a new life in a new place with folks I don't yet know. AND i spied a cottage - A COTTAGE! - in Callander I could rent (if it was still available if i went for the job and if i got it.
So, I am initially drawn to these jobs in this new area. There are attractions - bonnie part of the country, not too far from friends family (like, within the hours drive), great places on my doorstep for trail and hill runs... But, am I willing to forfeit new acquaintances made here?
If you put in front of me a job in or near Helensburgh... (but pref' not too close to THAT school)
And one in Callander... well Helensburgh would win. But there aint no jobs there.
And I know i'm being impulsive because of what I feel about THAT HT and school... but I really don't want to work there beyond this term...
Confused.com. appreciate any sage advice if you can be arsed thinking on a Sunday :haha:
Right, off to read/fanny about on the tinternet
