Re: Join up! Army against the grog!!! March 2018

Late checkin.. just catching up. Great discussions here, nodding my head like Tabbers (well done on the interview!).

Have a cold so am moany

Had to do bag packing in the local supermarket as a fundraiser tonight. As always, I was stunned about the amount of booze people buy on a Friday night, that is all people are shopping for! Wine, beer and plastic pizza.
Of course Im awfully smug packing away their wine, when my own trolly could tell its own story a few years back!

Liked all that chat about those who drink too much but are not alcoholics. Mr M would fall into that category too, as much as I wanted to believe he was like me, hes not.
    Its all so complicated

Off to bed with my snotty nose, night night xxx.

:congrats: Well done on one year smoke free! Not easy at all - even with the vapes.

        Morning troopers.

SO SO SO glad it is Saturday and there is no school. I can't believe I just wrote that, cos even though we all love a day off, I didn;t think I'd be leaving school thinking, "I don't want to do that." It's not the teaching, it's the teaching environment and the lack of person-power to deal with kids that have issues that a single teacher (and I was very lucky to enough to have a colleague in with me yesterday) cannot deal with while trying to teach 25 other children. I hate being negative about it, but find trying to be positive difficult. BUT... I do look forward to teaching the kids I have on Monday/Tuesday at the other school. So that gives me hope for the future (for kids and for me!).

We made jokes at the end of teaching yesterday about "All I need is vodka/gin/the bottle of wine in the fridge" ... I can empathise. I was tempted. But as Mers says, it is complicated, the psychology (and maybe biology) of addiction and addictive personality types. Kinda strange how I never got into gambling or illicit substances... rollies and alcohol were my vices...

Planning a long road run this morning - need to get used to the roads in prep for London Mara - not a fan of the roads, much prefer being up in the trails - no traffic, fewer people, softer ground to run on, great views, lots of trees, plenty of good ol' "Ommmmmm" vibes :haha:

Have a cracking Saturday - you too Molls, ya lucky sod :haha: total jealous.

Jesus RC where are you going at 5.45 of a Saturda morning :egad:

So sorry to hear that RC - when you say person-power you mean extra hands - remedial teachers loike ?
That must be heart breaking to try and do.

I'm in work today & tomorrow. I don't mind because I'm kinda my own boss and can make informed decisions. Like a responsible adult. That's important.
There is a shortage of carers and the cracks are starting to show. We have 4 old ladies who have had falls - 3 of which had to be treated in hospital for broken hips.

          Later gaters :llama:

Morning! Off for brekkie - Jilly having her issues with teacher in the country school she's doing her work placement too long to explain on tablet but she loves the Dublin schools she's worked in - more generous with their encouragement and letting her use her initiative - she's counting down the days down there tbh which isn't good
Orf for brekkie then an outdoor swim - heaven!!!!!!

              Morning.
feck sake Molly, an outdoor swim!!! where? its horrible out.

Thats terrible about those women falling at your place Satz.. Lets do more with less - its the usual picture everywhere - but there should be no compromise with out old and our young.
Dont envy you RC.. If your lucky enough to have a resource teacher in the room, at least thats something. Whether it comes naturally or not, you have to be an absolute bastard - otherwise the bad eggs will walk all over you and the rest wont be far behind. But yea, the atmosphere comes from the top down.

Where art tho JC - you've disappeared into that carpet!

Yep I have risen after sleeping 14 hours.......had a break about midnight to let the dog out but went straight to sleep. Even Mr JC's snoring after a night out with the lads didn't disturb me.

Honestly, it feels like I felt like when I was pregnant......nauseous and tired. Well, pregnancy is out of the of the question so its more likely the just the lurgy.

Hello to the March Army...the crusade lives on.

I haven't read back, so this is just a quick hello and note to Satz. When I was reading about your son, a quote came to my mind, but I couldn't find it. I had a rough day yesterday, so I am reading through some sections in my notebook and there it was. It's from a book I read years ago called 'Forbidden Fruit'.

"That's one of the things life teaches you, darlin. One bad choice can screw up your entire life." I have no idea if this would motivate your son, but I have made such a decision and more than one that has screwed up my life. We don't see into the future when we make them, but looking back we certainly do. So, for what it's worth, I'll leave it with you.

RC, I've been working on those tentacles. When we begin to understand them on a deeper level, at least for me, it can help with the AF journey. It can really trigger some emotional feelings, but walking through those fears and insecurities is the only way to beat them. Unfortunately for me, I had some materialize, so I had no choice but to deal with them or drop out. I used AL to help slowly drop out, but now I'm not. Take some time when you are ready to try and dig into them. When I read some of your posts, I see similarities, and it may help you stay AF. They are sneaky little devil tentacles working under the surface. Cut them loose. I'm still working on another one currently. What a beast this one is. Argh!

Hello, Molly, JC, Rusty and everyone else. I'm on a short time leash this morning. Hugs to all.
