Bliss - no nagging to 'do' things for 4 days :haha:
just me and the young Alko - who is still drinking on the sly - I know where to look for the bottles - because I did EXACTLY the same myself..

I have my personal experience and reasons to believe we are spirit beings. Much of which is very detailed and probably not meant for this forum. I will say, go deep within your own being, and you'll find it. You don't need some modern day gurus to tell you that. These two are how cults are formed. They know it works and they both have backgrounds on how to do it. No offense meant to your thoughts or beliefs, but I strongly hold to mine.:love:The Drunkards Progress. Good thoughts on treasuring the days, Molls. I understand your meaning, and will be mindful in doing that.
I had a girlfriend in high school like you. While we wanted to go party and have fun, she preferred to stay home with a book. I envied her and yet I didn't follow suit. Your library is a little far for me to visit. lol I've had a similar experience with reading and learning being snuffed out by alcohol. I really note where it has taken my brain. It wasn't enough to get the successful full scale quit until now. That along with some other reasons has brought me to today. I hope to rebuild those damaged brain processes. I became fully aware I was using wrong words, not being able to recall words, etc. I noted my post above I used 'On Golden Pond' as that is what my mind recalled at that moment. I meant Walden Pond. I'm working on regaining my function. Time will tell how much will return. I've read about neuroplasticity, so I have hope. I can already see some changes and I only have three weeks in.
I'll have to call you Librarian Molls. The Drunkards Progress. From the first glass to the grave...

Yeah -- brain damage -- let me see - this is not blowing myself up or showing off but I was well bright as a young one - did well in exams despite never bothering my backside - but now???? - well I've age against me now I s'pose - I'm 61 - so guess the old brain slows down somewhat anyway - but I do think that my brain cells were depleted from alcohol for sure - everything is a bit slower - have to concentrate more - I work with really smart people and to keep up and not appear thick I have to apply myself... I thought I'd improve but over the years I think I've just stabilised as good as it'll get!! But it's alright - like I'm not sort of simple nor nothing:victorious:
What I would say to you is - I was SERIOUSLY depleted of B12 and a lot of what you describe I became fully aware I was using wrong words, not being able to recall words, etc. I noted my post above I used 'On Golden Pond' as that is what my mind recalled at that moment. I was similar - tired, distracted, dizzy even.... so keep an eye on that - it made a big difference - I was prescribed a huge dose for a month or two and it really was like magic..Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: Join up! Army against the grog!!! March 2018
Evening,
Another one which is a must B1 (thiamine) for us alcoholics. Loads to read on the internet when you've got a spare hour or two.
Tooth all back to normal and I saw my own dentist as he had five minutes.......he should have known its never five minutes with me and the best thing it was free as it happened within the week I had a check-up.......bonus.
Getting spoilt tonight and having take-away fish and chips. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: Join up! Army against the grog!!! March 2018
Quick fly in troops, just reading back.
JackieClaire - glad yer toof is all back to normal. I, along with probably the entire planet, hate anything sore in or about my mouth. Fish and chips?! It's no Friday yet is it?!!
satz123 - ach, sorry to hear the young 'un is supping slyly. You'd think with a ma' who knew his hiding tricks would think again at his actions... but then the power of addiction... is, well, reckon powerful.
Crusader - interesting thoughts there about spirited beings living through physical bodies. Have been doing quite a bit of reading on religious experience stuff for my MEd (it's focus is on the application of Philosophy in Religious Education in primary school)... which has led me to dip my toe into William James' The Varieties of Religious Experience asa well as a modern book and papers on Children and Spirituality. Sometimes it feels like a vast area of untapped, or at least unspoken about, experience. It is interesting how religion / spirituality / theology etc.. are all a bit taboo. Kids (once they are, say 10/11 +) kinda get embarrassed to speak about it. As if it's uncool. Probably the same way that many adults are - as soon as you say 'god' 'religious' etc, people immediately think yer a goody-two-shoes, bible-bashing Jehovah. Bizarrely it is when the same people are in the pub with a few drinks inside them that suddenly this can be THE topic of conversation!
AT mollyka (!!) - yep, i found reading again a lot easier when not drinking. I also found when I lost my phone, that i need not have the phone by my bed at night (it's now banished) and so more time and space for books. Only issue is I can't see my floor rug for books sprawled across it!
Off to watch some TV (about a nun who was murdered - yet more church :egad: )

Same with chiropodists and opticians of all things. Its all very complicated.
Ah Satz, pet............so involved with my tooth I didn't see that AJ haven't a slurp on the side.......just give him a heads up and tell him you're not daft.
Now this sounds nice.......wild mushroom risotto with crispy duck breast and redcurrant and apple sauce
Well you brought back a memory there,Arsey. Friday night down the chip shop........but not to early as my granny was convinced the first batch of chips were left over from the night before. Plates in the oven, bit of bread and butter in case you swallowed a bone.........crikey I'm seven years old again
I'm off to bed gorgeousnesses.......sleep well.It could be worse, I could be filing.

Keepers is watchable but will really annoy you about the Church, the abuse and the cover ups. What’s new, any of you see the film on Friday night about Fr Brendan Smith? Stomach churning and heard today they are on about another priest.
Anyway night all.
