Re: Join up!! Army against the grog !!! April 2018

Ah JC.. you do need a hug  Well if things happen in 3's, you're done (scam, fall, pain), its all good stuff from here in.
Satz, Im sorry about your mam. Is she aware of what the diagnoses means?

Same as you all on the obsession with drinking. The need for a constant drip, but still maintaining some control, for years and years, was tricky! hence the bottle hiding.

Hope your feeling better today starty..

Night all. X

Morning troops

Need to get out my pit and run... as off to Aberdeen to see my flat that's all stinky cos the previous tenants were smokers and i expressly said "non-smoking flat" to the factors. They could only apologise, but i sure as hell aint paying for the cleaning. Will be SO glad to sell (asap please) as hated being a landlord.
JackieClaire - some good advice there re the back. I've been fortunate - so far - as never had back issues really. (Tho running may not be the best thing for anyone's back over time?!). Really hope it gets better very soon. Know friends who;ve had back issues and it can blight them.

Good to hear peeps posts re 'hidden' or other types of drinking... and that sometimes it's not a lot either, but simply the fact that it's HIDDEN... that we knowingly or unknowingly tell ourselves "this is no normal"... All really good to read.

Best off - - gonna do a 3.7m run in honour of the lad Matt who died at the London Marathon 3.7m from the finish.

Have a great Saturday folks.

Morning

RunningCourage where are you going at 5am of a Saturda ??? Sounds like an addiction .................
Is Mary running her half marathon too today I think ? Now she's getting addicted :egad:
One addiction that passed me by ......
Good luck to both....

JackieClaire. I know the thought of walking at 11pm at night while in pain is not ideally what you want to hear - but it is said with (tough) love
As a wise man once said (?) " use it or lose it"
"Our bodies were built to move - but like water will become stagnant if not flowing".

I also think Fish Oils have a lubricating effect on the bones and muscles - and also very good for boosting the mood. 'Cos the brain is made of these fatty acids.

"Fish oil isn't considered a replacement for treatment of depression, but it may be helpful as an addition to prescribed medications or other treatment. It's possible that fish oil supplements high in omega-3s may help lower the risk of depression — and omega-3 fatty acids help protect heart health "

NOW : you can tell me to  and practice what I preach.

So I'm off to Howth for a walk :llama:

satz123..........listen I'm listening..........there's no need to apologise for tough love. I've given it myself............Mr JC's just said he'd take it as read I'll not be going to the shops.........FFS I have to walk and I have to move. I've seen those women that shuffle about and I'll be fucked if I'm going to be one of them. I used the pillow trick from that list to sleep last night and getting up today while it wasn't easy it was a damned sight better that recent times. And funnily enough I was looking at bathing costumes in M&S with a thought of aqua aerobics. Mr JC's aunt who died last year was still doing that into her 90's.

RunningCourage.........I read about that young chef, very sad and wonderful you're running in his memory.

Perfect JC. Am sure you will enjoy. Had I known you were walking in Howth Satz I would have waved across the water, I did the cliff walk to Greystones this morning. Good luck in the race Mary if it’s today it’s on. Waves to all I did not mention , going out to the garden for a while.

I'm back & fecked !
It's touristy this time of year - like GANGS of them. Young people with very little manners - so my sister just barges through them :haha:
Then we had an altercation with a man & a dog. I like dogs - my sister is afraid of them - and this fella was a HUGE husky and came running at us.
I said by law you should have him on a lead in a public place..
He said : no - by law I only have to have him under control - not on a lead. FFS ... Under control doesn't mean charging at people ON A CLIFF !!!!!!!

Words were exchanged........ :haha:

It's absolutely perfect. You even made Mr JC :hahaha:

Crikey, we've got an ancient lolloping overweight labrador and she's kept on her leash around people. Even I'd do a 4-minute mile if a husky came charging at me. Blame the owner .

I always blame the owner - like noisy obnoxious kids - the kids know no better - it's the parent's ignorance - you're dead right -

Parents should teach the kids not to go near a dog until you've talked to the owner and its up to the owner to be in charge. Dylan our old Labrador was was who wouldn't have hurt a fly but if he was a jumper when he was pleased to see you....... Fine if you're an adult you get knocked over and get a muddy bum but terrifying for a child. And I have seen a Jack Russell take on a Rottweiler and win.

We have a lot of blind people come in with their guide dogs - they get the audio books - but over the years we've got to know the dogs quite well but we never pet them or anything - not allowed and rightly so

I think disability dogs are the best thing ever.
Kids with autism are getting them now and they change the kid's life. They can relate to the dog better than they ever will with humans.
Amazing.
