Stary, mind yourself over the next while. Why not cut back on the hours for a while? Its the devil you know, the unknown of a new job is just more stress.
satz123 .. that must break your heart seeing that every day. Do many of them have no say in going into a home? Only have 1 aunt in a home, but thats complicated. All of the rest, so far, have been able to avoid it. There must be some that are happy and content?
On the flip site, it could also be very lonely living on your own, if you cant get out as much (I should have had rakes more children!)
Also - self pity is the enemy for sure - but yes there are situations you describe benjy - old people's power taken from them - so sad

As for the talking therapies, just find one on-line........once you start talking it spills out......it always took me a couple of sessions to get going because I thought I might shock them.....they've heard worse. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Morning Army brats.
Starts - maybe a dedicated addiction counselor - I'm sure there is no shocking them.
I believe the medical profession are coming to realise that women of a certain age have challenges others don't have.
We were supposed to die after child bearing years - but we don't. We get the fecking menopause - and we're in it before we know what's happening.
Symptoms are so varied - doctors haven't a clue.
In hindsight those years were the ones where my drinking took off big-time.
So be gentle with yourself - this too will pass

Thanks Ladies. Yep I think the menopause has lots to answer for. It certainly changes everything. The way we act, feel, look and cope all come into question.
I am being very gentle or as much as possible.
The MD of the co called me in this morning as he is worried about me. It took all my strength not to break down in front of him. However I did tell him I did not feel well ad was stressed. He told me a problem shared is a problem halved and I need to talk to him or my immediate boss if things get bad.

I had to go sick with stress. I couldn't even think straight.
It frightens the shit out of management - sympathy yes - but an undercurrent of "we're all stressed - cop on "
Take time out - get things in perspective Starty....... there are other jobs.
Luckily I was then able to take redundancy ..... and I didn't have to listen to my boss again. She kept ringing me.
Arcey she had a Scottish accent - like that Lorraine Kelly wan - HATE to even hear it now.Last edited by satz123; April 9, 2018, 09:28 AM.

By molls:
"d'ya know - I think it's what you make of life - there are people who are just spoilt rotten by everyone - parents - spouses - sprogs etc - and really get no happiness out of anything unless the equivalent of that spoiling is forthcoming - on the other hand - I had an aunt who had a tough enough life - and when she went into a home she just told everyone she wanted to be left alone - in her room with her books, her television, and her own company - she liked family visiting but no one else... she was as happy as a pig in shit - she really was - but everyone was saying how wrong she was and she should be meeting up with the other old folks in the common room or whatever - nah - she wasn't having a bit of it - and she truly did die happy... it's within us I think -- actually -- I KNOW that.... we can make ourselves happy or unhappy regardless of circumstances."
Aside from some of the devastating health effects that can make us unable to 'be who we are', I agree Molls. I love my time alone. I'd be like your aunt. I really like my own company and it's not normal for me to be bored and truthfully, that happens more being around people who bore me than being alone. I will always find something to entertain my mind. For me, losing my mind would be the worst outcome to hit me; however, feeling ill daily or in pain, etc. would take away your ability to enjoy being alone. I want to go before I ever get to a dependent state of being and suffering. I read your post and had this up in one of my screens. 13 Rules for Being Alone and Being Happy About It I need more alone time, not less. Useless noise hammering away in our world keeping people busy with nonsense is crazy to me.
Hello all. I stopped by to do a little reading. I'm off to the day now.Last edited by Crusader; April 9, 2018, 11:12 AM.The Drunkards Progress. From the first glass to the grave...

Can you manage a salary cut by finding a new job or going part-time.....or taking a career break.....like Satz has so rightly put this is not a rehearsal.Last edited by JackieClaire; April 9, 2018, 12:58 PM.It could be worse, I could be filing.

She advised me to go to my doctor & just tell him.
I did and told him I needed time out to think straight and then renewed the certificate each week.
Doctors are very understanding these days and know how stress can affect mental & physical health.
And even if they aren't - YOU TELL the the doctor you want to be signed off for a while - to think and because the job is literally making you sick.
Companies are also aware of and scared of staff having stress related illness - because they are causing it or at least not helping prevent it.
There were 2/3 people out with it each week where I was.
