Re: Join up!! Army against the grog !!! May 2018
Evening all - just in. Mother in ok form - bored witless.
I dumped her in a wheelchair ( I'm a pro now) and we went outside the hospital for air ........ they were all smoking - even though it said NO SMOKING on hospital grounds.
One youngwan - about 20 I'd say - even had a can of cider in ther dressing gown as she smoked...... FFS!!
Her friend the same with a toddler in a buggy - Jesus - the next generation :egad:

Morning all!
Glad yer mum is ok Satz. Shocking about the hospital. Youngsters are far worse than I was at their age. Now they seem to drink much more and are open about it. It really does seem the norm which is horribly worrying.
Hope the dental work goes OK Molls. Not pleasant.
Jax my garden is just full of weeds. The lawn is nice but the edges, the patio and the drive looks wrecked. Stresses me to see it. I have asked a guy from the next village for a quote to sort it out. We just do not have the time or energy for a big project like that.
Love clearing out Mary, it is cathartic. Once my energy returns it will be on my to do list Good luck with the car choice. Mr S is brilliant at choosing cars. Tell him what is needed and he will have read reviews and researched it and have suggestions. He will even find one given half a chance. He loves it
Hot night last night, not much kipper but going to be another lovely day today. Hope all have a good one

Morning,
I need professional de-clutterers or a skip, Starts.
When Jenny was in hospital there was actually a smoking room .......miles of corridors away in the basement.........you had to walk past the morgue........mentioned it to the ward sister one day and her reply.............its deliberate.
Must go, doctors then town to pick up the prescription that should have been ready to collect last Thursday......
Will be thinking of you at the dentists, Molls, me darling.
Big hugs to your Mammy, Satz.It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: Join up!! Army against the grog !!! May 2018
Did nobody else get up apart from Starty and JC?!
Back to school today. Belly feeling much better...well in comparison to Saturday ANY better is much better. Still tender, but I can eat (yay!) and sleep unperturbed by stomach cramps.... tho last nights heat (a stifling low-mid teen of some description, when in Arsey's homeland is akin to being in the searing Sahara desert at noon).
I'm hoping this week will be my last week at the school i am leaving - it's a bit vague as to when i can/will leave - no definite start date as such to be at the other school F/T.
Was reading last night's posts and wondering whether young 'uns today are drinking more and being more open about it. Isn;t the evidence that fewer younger people (those in their 20s predominately) are actually drinking, or drinking as much and that, too, there are more people going AF? Supermarkets here may reflect this with a growing amount of AF beers and wines. It may, too, be different over the wee water of course, but I also wonder whether our own preponderance with drinking thoughts/awareness of drink in ours and others' lives, makes our disposition a bit more sensitive - i.e. it can appear to us more people our drinking, when in fact this may not be the case, because of our realisation of our relationship with the stuff... does that make sense?
Reminds me of whenever I bought a new car - suddenly every second car I saw on the road was the one I had just bought (obviously this does;t apply to owners of Ford Fiesta's, as they ARE every second car on the road), when before i'd never noticed that make of car.
Gotta do a bit of prep - laters troops.

RunningCourage.........think you're right........ there have been a few rumours going around the drug and alcohol services. More women are seeking help as well.
More than a quarter of young adults in the UK do not drink alcohol – in data | Society | The Guardian
Its started to rain.It could be worse, I could be filing.

Evening all. Sorry RC was rushing this morning as today was a work day so did not get a chance to say hello. Good luck with the new job. Thought it was going to rain here this morning too JC but it never came and the sun even made an appearance. Very short working week for me with the bank holiday but have plenty to keep me occupied for rest of week. Need to get some food now.

Re: Join up!! Army against the grog !!! May 2018
Evening folks - sorry me too - marathon 3 hours at the dentist then straight to work so LOOOOOONG day - aching jaw but he did a few little jobs on the teeth and they are looking super duper even tho I say so myself - getting them straightened a few years back was the best thing I ever did do - truly - spent so many years conscious of a few crookedish teeth - no more!! AND the root canal is done and dusted -
I think - just my opinion from listening to the youngers - that there are more non-drinkers amongst the 18-40's than there were in my day - but the ones that do drink - I think they drink in far vaster quantities than we did - the shots scenario would NOT have been done or acceptable when I was growing up - but then - that's just my opinion from observing around me... and looking back - we wouldn't have had the money - we used to save up to have 2-3 pints on a Saturday night.. that was for years and years reallyContentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: Join up!! Army against the grog !!! May 2018
Just popped back to see how it went, Molls. Three hours :egad:.........you could have run a marathon quicker. Bet the sore jaw won't stop you talking though
Think you're also right those who do hammer it.........to this day I don't understand a jager bomb..
You know I remember buying a pint of lager because it was something like 4p cheaper than two halves and sharing it. If it was pay day we might go mad and put a dash of lime in it.
I'm away to my bed.........night night, lovies. :love:It could be worse, I could be filing.

How did the docs go JackieClaire?
starty, car search is on hold until after the communion (2 weeks), but you might regret sharing Mr Starts car finding ability skill if we think its worth sourcing something from the UK!!!
I hear you on the garden.. ours is ok now after weeks of work, if only it would stop growing.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:
