Re: Join up!! Army against the grog !!! May 2018

Xpost Arsey - we have the cycle to work scheme here as well -- I think it's a brilliant idea - it's less than a tenner a week if you think of it that way - and I love natural exercise - like getting exercise and getting to work all at the same time -
Sorry you're feeling a bit blah - I always felt like that in the early days of sobriety tho.. hopefully it will lift soon xxx
Good luck with the job - Jilly is in the middle of similar at the moment - her old school where she went to primary herself are looking for her to work there till July - and she was all in a blather how to do it with the baby an all -- well the Mammy of my two grandsons rang her and offered to mind the baba!! how handy is that! and all the little cousins will get to know each other -- very exciting methinks! If the management is shit in an organisation Arsey - I think it's to be avoided - that toxicity can filter down through everyone.. but you know best - let your heart tell you ;-)

There you go -- saving money already!!! Would you want to give up working altogether tho? I'd lose my marbles at home 24/7?
We dont have a mortgage eitther. And i agree looking for ways to save would be fun. I want to work 3 days a week not give up altogether or i would go mad. I am hoping they let me do this

Sorry you are feeling blah RC i get it as i have felt like that for months. I hope you can make the changes you need to feel better

Very late check-in.
starty.........can give you a mound of handy money saving tips........ we've lived with an IVA for the last seven years. One of the best things we did was every £2 coin we got in our change went into a a big jar. Its paid for a couple of Christmasses and a trip to London..........did pull some of my pension down in 2016 as we needed new central heating and other big stuff.

Ta for the info on the shoes, Satz.

Fancy a hug RunningCourage......you're getting one anyway

Nice one on the baby minder, Molls.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Evening,
Delighted you loved the aqua aerobics, sounds like great craic! The real pain will hit tomorrow, you wont even notice your back pain then:haha:

Go for it starty! Have they a part time policy in work? Could you push for a trial period if they were not supportive? Dont try to do your job in 3 days though. Is there anyone who could take on the rest of your work load?
Best of luck!

Re finances, I definitely take shortcuts, end up spending more, because I just dont have the time to shop around. I am thrifty at heart, but it takes more time and Im a bit short of that these days.

Thanks Jax, that is a great idea. I am sorry about the IVA. Will the debt be written off? We tend to write off debt if customers are in one and there is little chance of recovering it. I too will have a small pension I can draw down if necessary plus if they allow me to reduce my hours I will still have some income and Mr Starts has said he will help me. I am so very very grateful. I really see the possibility and enjoyment of long term sobriety now. I thought about what you have all said about putting recovery first above all else and it is true, we do need to do that otherwise the alternative can be too overwhelming to contemplate

They let returning mothers and people who have children work reduced hours. I do not think they can discriminate because I do not have children. But we will see. If they are not supportive, I will probably have to instigate plan b and hand my notice in. Re my job, they are always short staffed, struggle with recruitment. It is perfectly possible to train someone else but whether they see that as an option I dont know. I guess it will depend on whether they think I am worth keeping.

I too spend more because I have no time to consider what I am buying. It will be a nice challenge to go thrifty

Morning folks and HI techie - great to see you - hope you are doing well? Knackered this morn and would LURVE a 3 day week right now! Yeah where I work there's a policy to give part time work to parents of young children or severe health problems - seems discriminatory - doesn't bother me - I'm happy doing my 5 days - just not today!!!!!!

Starts - I can hear the excitement in your voice of having more time for you.
I would fear what IamMary said that P/T would maybe be worse. That you'd be pressured to get the same work done in less time = STRESS

Returning mothers & those with children on P/T hours usually means they are using Parental leave entitlement in a fragmented way - i.e. a days week for months & months.
If someone goes P/T, that's not PArental LEave - their contract of employment needs to be changed.
