I agree Mary, I have these dreams where I am free to do what I like each day and that would be going out for long sunny walks with the doggers, having all my housework done regularly so my house didnt annoy me doing some volunteering and having hobbies that fulfil me. In reality I would probably be sitting in me own mess watching daytime telly and feeling guilty that I wasnt doing more :haha:

Yes where is everyone. Molls you are worrying me now. I do hope you are OK?

Today we are off to meet my brother and his wife for a pub lunch. Its in the beautiful city of Cambridge so looking forward to that. Yesterday I walked over 13k and had a lovely day with the doggers.

Very productive day yesterday. Woke at 6 but was lashing so fell back to sleep until 8, must have needed it. Hope to finish the painting today and the patio cleaning. Hope to get the weather to enjoy it.

Taking advantage of lying here in bed for a while.
Meeting two ex-work colleagues for a coffee
Not sure how I feel about it - but these are the friends I made in there who have stuck with me and didn't give up when I didn't feel like re-hashing and talking about anything personal. Very insistent
There are others - men mostly - but they've drifted.

So at the end of the day in a company of 3000 for 23 years I'm down to 2 that I'll meet & one of them already left But that's mainly down to me because I'm 'odd' when it comes to meeting people - when all we had was working in same company in common and the drinking sessions :haha:
Alcohol was my crutch in social situations ..... and I was great at socialising ..
But I don't kid myself - they forgot about me within weeks (days) I'd say.....

[MENTION=9094]satz123[/MENTION]...........seems like the pills worked.........won't be making a habit of it but it meant I could shovel a ginormous roast beef and Yorkshire pudding dinner down with no ill effects. Delicious it was and made even more enjoyable by the fact Jenny paid :applouse:

Jenny's new house is just lovely. Mr. JC did the daddy thing and put some sweet-pea plants in for her. Buddy has calmed down a quite a bit. Prolly a combination of being 18 months old, the huge garden and absolutely no stress and fighting in this house.

How was cambridge [MENTION=22456]starty[/MENTION], I was there years and years ago, beautiful.
[MENTION=9094]satz123[/MENTION], I get that. Am down to 2 also from a job years ago. Occasionally I'll meet with the larger group, but thats only been twice since I stopped drinking. We were all heavy drinkers and I often wonder if any of them fell into the same hole.
Friendships are funny things. Am too old for superficial bs now, but when your drinking, its all superficial anyway.

Same re the friends. I keep in touch with one or 2 (sporadically) from previous incarnations but I have changed (and I expect they have too) radically so the ties that bind are not usually there anyway. I have never been one to hang on to friendships for the sake of it. No malice but just drift away.

Absolutely fab day with bro and his wife. It is rarely just the 4 of us and was very relaxed in a lovely little pup just around the back streets. We drove to the edge of the city centre and got the bus in. Would like to have spent more time but didnt want to leave the doggers any longer. Had absolutely 0 desire to drink. Bro and Mr S had a couple of beers and a glass of wine SIL had tonic water. It is so wonderful to know that I can go out, have a great time clean and sober and have NO worries about anything. Very grateful. Lesson of the day is to only spend time with people I am comfortable with and feck the rest

Working on a Bank holiday, Rustles..........should be made illegal or at least paid triple time.

Friends, now here's the thing I have no contact with people I went to senior school with but still very good mates with two people I started infants with........and that was over 50 years ago. I hated the Grammar schoolso much that when I was asked if I wanted to go to the reunion it was the easiest thing in my life to say no.
From MWO I have met people I love like the sisters that I always wanted.

Think yesterday wiped me out although I'm feeling so much better this evening could eat that roast dinner again now.

I just got the lovliest e-mail from where the addicition place saying they miss me.......I'm thinking Barnado's can go whistle.

what's with this blue sky, sun malarky?! It's the heat i can't get used to - always waking up at silly o'clock and canny get back to snooze land for an hour or so. hate it!

JC, glad you are feeling better - nothing like getting yer appetite back.

Rusty and Mary, I worked too but off next Friday AND Monday so cannot wait!

Yes, was lovely to feel comfortable. My next big hurdle is Iceland in a few weeks. Gonna be stressful on a number of levels. Constant work companions, tiredness and sharing a bloody room with a whittler I will have to get all my tools in place and power through it
