Morning all and a big :sohappy: the Techmeister.

[MENTION=22456]starty[/MENTION]...........we ended up having to use an IVA broker so they got a fee but they also managed to negotiate a good deal on all the debt, not sure if any were written off......and after seven years we actually have a fairly good credit rating.......not that I think we'll ever get another credit card in this life...and were ever so good at keeping us informed. Its amazing when the bottom drops out of your finances how fecking careful you are.

Thanks Jude! It's good to take a break sometimes but it's also good to come back :happy2: How are you getting on?

Yeah I sent that last one from work - I work for the biggest employer in the country (the government so to speak haha!!) - and yeah - if you have a child - regardless of whether your partner is at home or not you can have part time work - but if you have two elderly parents who need care 24/7 and you are the only child (I know a case in point) you cannot work less than 5 days a week - it's appalling - and yes they then can add on the parental leave - there's a one I work with who had 4 children courtesy of her employers - 6 months each maternity - now she works a 3 and a half day week and takes another day a week as parental leave - she got promoted before all that so she is holding a nice juicy job down and blocking someone else who would be delighted to get it... drives me BANANAS!!! When I had my kids I got 14 weeks paid maternity and that was that... aaaaaaaaaaarrrgggghhh

I'm in bad mood today despite starting almost a weeks hols - had an altercation (it was coming a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time) with a colleague about leaving work to be picked up by others (it's actually the same one that I've just been talking about)-- no prob leaving the work if you aren't in work the next day but at least tell people where it is and not hide the fact that it wasn't done.................. crankyasshit.com

AND I've no problem with maternity leave - it SHOULD be there - but I never had a child I couldn't afford - hence the huge gaps between all mine!!!!:happy2:

Evening all and crankyass,
I was fully prepared to be a full-time mum 'til the S&H wandered into the kitchen and wiped his snotty nose on my skirt.....he was two and it was just the last straw.....luckily had a pal who worked in an employment agency and a PT job came up in the wine merchants doing their books and banking. Had to work more hours at Chrimbo and other busy periods as there were only four of us.........stayed there 'til I became a full-time, fully fledged and unmanageable drunk.

Dunno jack about mat' leave - other than the post i wanted was to cover mat' leave for a colleague. Didn;t get that job but offered a p/t one instead (not a class, just covering classes - as i do already). They said my interview was weak, pretty much, and i need to work on how i answer q's. They said they'd support me with that - whether or not i take the additional days at that school or not. So will do that. Now just need to decide whether to take and be f/t at that school until the end of term (likely i'll be shunted to another school come August). Or stay put working between both schools. Thought it would be an easy answer, but now not quite so sure.

Molly - that mat' leave story would drive me mad. I do know couple of young parents, in their 30's having their first child and planning to have their second in close succession so they don't need to return to work f/t until the 2nd child is born ... Something never considered cos don't have sprogs.

Yea, IF you are a public servant. In private, stops the day they turn 8 Id love to take some unpaid over the summer, but I dont qualify.

Pity about the job RC, but great feedback! take all the help you can get, its just practice. Im sure [MENTION=9094]satz123[/MENTION] will tell you that.. how come some people do better in interviews than others?

Over here I think they legally have to consider flexible working hours. If they reject I think you can appeal. It does bug me all the perks that people seem to get when they have kids....and still moan

Hi Mary, not yet. Our HR dept is non existent as the HR bod left because she couldnt handle the pressure that was being dumped on her when they sacked the other HR bod. We apparently have someone drop in on a Thurs who we can talk HR matters with :haha:

Good morning everyone. Survived yesterday and very proud of myself for doing something totally out of my comfort zone. Having a clear head makes things possible and easier to achieve. Getting lots of good advice Starty and it looks like you are on your way to making a life changing decision. Look at Tabs and Satz and the changes they made in their careers in the recent past. I’m working 2 days a week and feel I have the best of both worlds. Everyone is different and it’s important to find what suits you best.

Not a lot planned for today just getting hair done. Need to make a move and get doggies walked first.
