Jacks for when you log in - I see UKIP has been obliterated in your council elections - do you think that is any way reflective of anti-brexit feeling in the general public or is it some thing else?

I normally stay up to watch. Many years ago I was one of the counters in an election...........there was a line that the candidates had to stand behind so they couldn't see how the vote was going........there must have been many strained necks the following day.......and the height of excitement was finding a spoilt voting slip.It could be worse, I could be filing.

satz123 I hope that your Mom is doing better and was finally seen by the docs! The healthcare system is pretty much the same here in the States; nothing new to wait hours in the ER to be seen.
rustop59 do you work with horses? I am insanely nuts about horses, and until a few years ago, had 5 of my own.
starty and IamMary (The nosy ones) :congratulatory: My training was actually in Veterinary technology, and I worked as an animal nurse for 20 plus years. As you can imagine, the job is often physically demanding, especially since we did a lot of work with cattle and horses. I loved the work, but unfortunately, my body didn't, so I went back to school for medical assisting. I took a job with an ophthalmologist, and was soon plunged into one of the most toxic work environments that I have ever been in. I stayed for 2 years, until both my physical and mental health declined to such a level, that I knew that I had to try something else. I saw an ad for a Senior Companion, and did some research on the job. Turns out the field is growing rapidly, with lots of jobs out there. I work with people with dementia and Alzheimer's, mostly in their homes, but wherever the client happens to be. The job can be demanding, (people with Alzheimer's can be very mean) but the rewards are so worth it. The bulk of my day is spent trying to make someone's life as fulfilling as possible, which may include doing fun activities, med reminders, grocery shopping etc.... The woman I currently work with loves to play cards, and is making fast progress in deleting the contents of my wallet. I have worked with a variety of folks, some have become like family, others I have wanted to choke! The pay is actually better than I was making at my old job, but unfortunately, there are no benefits, although some companies do offer them. I am lucky enough to receive health care benefits through my husband, so that isn't a problem for me.
Molly, sorry about all of the @'s, but at least they weren't directed at you!
Hope that you all have a great day, and don't be afraid of change!

haha -- don't mind the @'s at all - once I get none!!!!
What a career change! Have to say I'm not a good enough person to work with Alzheimer's folks - I just wouldn't have the patience - my husband drives me mad and I snap regularly and there's nothing wrong with him.. so no - not for me - but delighted you have found your niche... important indeed!!!
Just back from the bank - talk about no patience -- jeez -- DON'T MAKE ME INTERACT WITH MACHINES WHEN ALL I'M TRYING TO DO IS BE A CUSTOMER OF YOUR SHAGGING ORGANISATION... just show me a human face -- just OCCASIONALLY!!!!Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

And a lot of time sat in the garden looking at this big yellow thing and then came in switched the TV on and saw half an hour of possibly the worst made for TV movie, ever, it was like I was in a trance. That's when I realised if I sat any longer my brains might trickle out of my ears.It could be worse, I could be filing.

My turn to bookend
Watched a documentary about Liverpool Cathedral and its history..........Hells bells the Scousers got more than their share of the bombings during the WW2. It always amazes me how the feck people got up in the morning and went about their business through it. Now got a documentary about Strangeways (the prison).........how far away can that be from two bottles of red.It could be worse, I could be filing.

Evening,
That was a lovely read Jude58. Well done you for just going for it. Not a million miles away from Satz's career change too.. speaking of, any word on Mammy Satz?
Off to galway tomorrow afternoon for a birthday. Driving home after because
A) overnight babysitting options are limited
B) cant be arsed listening to drunk people for the last 3 hours
C) because I CAN.
(presentation of this post for you starty)
Ironing is possibly illegal on the yellow ball days JC. Causes spontaneous combustion or something else very scary.Last edited by IamMary; May 4, 2018, 06:05 PM.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:
