I like being full time cos the part-timers are sort of considered a nuisance sometimes as there's no continuity of their work - yesterday being an example - but only cos I like my job - if I didn't like it I would be gagging for part-time - and I've little or no stress- but I would hate to be treated as a 2nd class citizen by upper management - sort of sniffy - glad I'm off today tho!!!

Re: Join up!! Army against the grog !!! May 2018
There were only 3 full-timers at the Wine Merchants.........the owner, the buyer, the driver and lil old me.The accounting just got left 'til I was there. There just wasn't enough work to merit another full timer unless it was Christmas and that's when I used to co-erce everyone and anyone to look after the kids so I'd do it. I'd even take them in with me and the poor little buggers would stand and polish glasses all day (we ran a glass hiring service as well) and the boss used to make them a little pay-packet up. We didn't have an HR either.........unless you count the two black labs that slept under the owner's desk.
As for the back its now at manageable as long as I don't sneeze, bend, make any sudden movements or laugh too hard. But I do bend as there are some wee excercises I have to do or I'll end up just stood up all the time.
rustop59........dying to hear what you were up to.It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: Join up!! Army against the grog !!! May 2018
Morning ladies, sorry about your work situation Starty.
I have, since becoming sober, really grasped the attitude that if it ain't working change it. Easier said than done I know but tbh life is too short to be in a bad situation when it is in our own hands to change it. I am trying to apply this to all areas of my life and it just feels right for me. Take for instance my 'new' job, well it ain't no more, I start my new 'new' job next week. It just wasn't a good fit and despite my efforts I could see not much was going to change so I jacked it in post haste and contacted the other company which had offered my an interview a month ago, went to see them and got offered the job on the spot. Funny how things work out sometimes, there is a saying "if you want to make God laugh tell Him your plans". I could be on the dole in a month, who knows.....Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

14.) Don’t complain if he’s late home for dinner or even if he stays out all night. Count this as minor compared to what he might have gone through that day.Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Wow Tabbers - well there's adventure going on in your working life - -fair dues to you - you know I think the work place is very different now as well -- two of my sprogs are constantly job hopping and think nothing of it.. I think back in the day 'why did you leave your last job?' at interviews seems to be a thing of the past - it appears to be a positive that you have an open outlook -- delighted for you!! sympathies with the bad back Jacks - was out gardening since sparrow fart and I can hardly straighten -- haha -- can't let on here tho cos you get no sympathy in this house for 'ailments' haha -- best attitude really - no way would I be indulged!!!Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

just got into a wunnerful row here with himself - he was telling me (we were watching the tele with a shite author being interviewed) that if I could write books like Cecilia Ahern or Patricia Scanlan that I would do it for the money despite them being absolute drivel - I said NO NO NO -- he went on and on that I would - so I asked him if he could sing like Daniel O Donnell and make his money would he do it?? -- errrmmm NO -- apparently that's different:welldone:Last edited by mollyka; May 3, 2018, 04:21 AM.Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: Join up!! Army against the grog !!! May 2018
With all of this talk about job change lately, I just had to throw in my 2 cents. Two years ago, I had a really "good" job with decent pay and benefits, but HATED being there from beginning to end! It was fast paced and very stressful, with lots of criticism thrown in to boot. I used to waste entire weekends literally sick about having to go to the "house of evil" every Monday morning. My health began to suffer, and my drinking really escalated to a new unprecedented level. I finally said, "enough is enough" and started a career doing something entirely different than I've ever done, and have never looked back. There are days when I pinch myself, and say "I can't believe that I get paid to do this! So, glad that I took that risk.
Doing well Molly, thanks for asking!
