Evening all. Very quiet in the barracks these days. Just in from work and getting my eyebrows done on my way home. Need food but just thought I would have a quick check in first.

[MENTION=9094]satz123[/MENTION]......a couple across the road from us have a daughter .........38.....who no interest in marriage, babies, mortgages etc.............met someone married at 39, popped out two kiddies by 42 and loves it all.

Was in work today and met one of the other volunteers.........she's in recovery, so is her daughter. The daughter's 37 with 11 years plus sobriety, two lovely darling polite kids..........her mum was saying they honestly thought she was going to die whether by her own hand or by organ failure. Had me near tears.

Late, and tired, check in. Yes, [MENTION=9094]satz123[/MENTION], have tried online dating... just never did it for me. I dunno, just canny seem to get into it. Not to say I'd not like it... think if i found the right person i myself would be a better person. But then i don't like to say that either as it diminishes the individual - i.e. to say we canny be fully 'human' / 'ourselves' / 'our best' when we are alone...

Just finished auditions for the show I'm directing for the company I did the show back in November with. Nearly cast. The show is 9 - 5. Dolly Parton fans can book tickets soon :haha:

Right need to head to the leaba.

If I was drinking, I would anticipate a decent hangover tomorrow.. nice to know that I'll be fresh as a daisy, annoying day behind me.

Morning all.

Good to see you Jax and RC and lovely to hear a success story in the relationship world. I love Dolly Parton but never seen 9-5. 13 reasons is a difficult show to watch but it may help younsters and us oldies be more aware of realising how easy it is to hurt someone without meaning to and to look out for others struggling.

Feeling very lazy today and could do with a day in the pit but alas gotta get moving and immerse myself in the mental world of the financial services industry :haha:

Morning............. been having a right fanny on with the laptop this last couple of days and its not much better today.

Was supposed to be going to AA today but the woman who was taking me has had to cancel so it'll be over the weekend. I know I could go on my own but tbh feeling a tad anxious.

Need to do me roots today.............its the S&H's 30th birthday party on Saturday night. Can't believe mummy's little soldier is all growed up. His actual birthday's Tuesday and watch out Dublin as he's got a surprise day trip from his GF that day.

Satz, i so feel your pain. My son is a drinker at 24 and he has a friend of his living with us. lovely young 24 year old but drinks like a fish, his mum died from al related issues 12 years ago and yes i do feel very sad for him but.....

both boys decided to drink up a storm continuously, kept me awake at 2am and i had had a gutful, this went on for a month or so. i told both of them that if they cant show me the respect i show them then they can pack their shit and move out. if they drank in my house that was it, i was not going to have al thrown in my face every day as i am an alcoholic and while i have no urge to drink i wont have anything that may tempt me. Well let me say that i had two men acting like two year olds for a week or so, they would go to the park and have a beer or go to the pub. one night they came home trashed and yet again woke me to which they awoke the "dragon" as i am commonly called when woken. I said to them the next day that there were no more warnings, no more of me being nice and understanding when they blatantly disregarded my feelings in my house.

I did say if i am not there and i am at the SO's then they can drink but otherwise none. I now can enjoy my home and they know i am totally serious. I will always be there to support them but i cant tolerate their drinking. they cant moderate, i let them have a try at that one and they abused it yet again and drank every night. For me i felt i was enabling them to drink, knowing how bad it was and yep i felt crappy for laying down the rule of no al but if they cant drink like normal people which they cant then they cant drink. They also know if i find al in their rooms they are out. I just cant enable them and allow it. i've had every bit of sarcasm, persuasion, begging thrown at me and i just had to stop giving in.

Its that mothers love that keeps us going but we only have so much to give and as you know us alkies will take and take and take. i honestly dont know if i could thrown my son out but he is scared enough not to push it. Not the brightest button lol but he realises even i have my limits. This probably hasnt helped at all but i thought id share what kind of has worked for me for the moment. xx

Afternoon all. I am sure Satz will appreciate your input Available. Bit like alcohol, itÂ’s only those who have been through it truly understand. As parents we are torn and even if they are not drinking we canÂ’t do right from doing wrong a lot of the time. Sorry you didnÂ’t get to meeting JC. Bet itÂ’s hard to believe your baby is 30😄. Season 2 is out in 13 Reasons Starty. I started watching it but fell asleep. Not the most relaxing before falling asleep.

Going away for weekend to help daughter pack up and clean apartment. She has only one exam left. Few days back and going to visit other daughter, she has graduation ceremony. Hopefully will have WiFi so I can check in. IÂ’m confident in my sobriety and only realized the other day I must be nearly at a year. I drank last year when visiting my daughter after a good dry spell. Started again but did not count days as I had so many stops and starts over the years. Bit like loosing weight, I always seem to do better on the scale the week I donÂ’t obsess about it. To anyone stopping and starting keep trying.

I may just go to a meeting Sunday morning and leave all the hungover Henrys lying in their pits after the night before. I'll be fecked if I cook a Sunday dinner they push around their plates..........they can take me to a carvery.

Great post Ava. Thats not easy with 2 of them in the house! Still, your house, your rules, if they dont like it, they can sling their hooks.
