Too hot.

Bought a fan yesterday for the bedroom. Still up at 3am and could;t get back to sleep...

As for Wales, not only have i seen it, i been it too... for approx half an hour, maybe 45 minutes, while running the Chester marathon with Oor Whizzy... gosh way back... um, 2013 methinks.

Last day tomorrow :yay: but with 30 degrees celsius forecast (why is it not this hot in southern Englandshire?!) I'd rather jump to when the sun finally takes a cold shower and the temp comes down a bit.
[MENTION=22456]starty[/MENTION] - reading with interest yer wee hiccup with imbibing. Not that I'm one to speak. But i do appreciate reading how other's learn to deal with hiccups and relapses. What i find inspiring - sort of, and sort of oddly too - are those who are several years sober but had a single one day/night hiccup but that they didn;t let it become the beginning of the fall back into old ways. There's a few on here... someone has it written on there signature line, canny mind who...

Right off to get ready for leaba... just ate too much before bed, so got a sort tummy, but pottering about for half an hour and reading ought to ease it all through!

[MENTION=18049]RunningCourage[/MENTION]....I hate being the bearer of bad news...while it is encouraging that a few can jump straight back into sobriety, the sad thing is for many an alcoholic this is just the start. This isn't just me I'm talking about.........I've been working with addicts for 7 years plus. I've a friend who started volunteering at the same time as me who went on to be a key worker...........he started having a few at his daughter's 18th.......8 months ago and thought he was handling it....... He's now in his sixth week in hospital after near complete organ failure. He's only 50 and no one is sure about the outcome. Would we say the same about a heroin addict.....its ok he/she only used once?

Do we wait until it was like I was and willing to end it all or do we away with just one thing.......alcohol. I'm one of the lucky ones and greatful for every extra minute I get now.

Glad your head is straight [MENTION=22456]starty[/MENTION]. X post there from JC too. I know pills were a bigger issue for you, but its those bastard thoughts that convince you of all sorts. Bet your glad to be home :happy2:

I hope I'll be a walking ad for Wales in a few weeks, or not as the case may be.

Hi RC, PLEASE do not find anything inspiring about me having a hiccup (very kind way of putting it ) It is the most dangerous thing in the world and defo not something to take lightly. I have done this so very many times over the years since i had my long sober stint and it has always without fail got out of hand and became a habit which developed into very bad depression which left me thinking like Jax that I wanted to end it all.

Jax I hope your friend pulls through and is able to get his life together

Mary, yes the pills I think are a much bigger problem for me. I am so very very grateful that it wasnt those I turned to in my desperation. However, they go hand in hand as all addictions do and once the gate is opened again it is very hard to shut it. For me right now, I am a sober and clean person and it was extreme circumstances that led me to act the way I did. It did not achieve what I was looking for thankfully and I want to continue with my sober and clean life. I am soooo glad I am home I know many people out of the 56 who went (that was another issue, too many people too close) were traumatised by the accommodation and felt dirtier coming out of the shower than going in!

The book I am currently reading is a great reminder of the grip alcohol has on all of us who are here.

I was just thinking that it must be hellish tough to work outside at the mo........dawned on me the window cleaner hasn't been. I've seen this man do the windows with the snow two rungs in his ladder and lashing down........the heat has melted him.

Our Bess for a 14 year old Lab is holding out in the heat better than me. She's found a sweet, cool spot on the floor between the back door and the living room that a beautiful draft comes through to the open front windows. Trouble is she won't shift.

Why dont you freeze a soft drink bottle full of water and leave it near her? We are lucky our house is cool even in the summer. (winter it is bloody freezing!) The dogs will fortunately lay on the tile floors or stay in the cooler parts of the house. I wont take them out when it is hot in the day as the pavements are too warm

Evening all. Feel like I’m in a different country. Take my two out very early and not for long. Gave them ice cubes today but they didn’t know what to do with them! Downside is there are lots of fires 🔥 around here. Criminal, wish they could catch whoever is setting them.

Does the frozen bottle work for humans? Bess is like a teenager at the moment..........all I can think is the heat is making the arthritis in her leg joints easier to move around.

Finally got to AA this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. Many hugs were received and will be there next Wednesday, going to try for the Saturday meeting as well. Was on a bit of high afterwards............I know its not always going to be that good but just what I need to go forward. Surprising thing is the amount of young 'uns there........the lad chairing was only 25.

Another birthday tomorrow.......its Mr JC's this time.

Its just shocking Rustop. I always want to think they they are accidental or natural - hard to believe someone would start one deliberately. It is like another country, almost naked people everywhere!!

[MENTION=22411]IamMary[/MENTION]............it is young but its not unusual. He just realised a couple of years back while he was having the usual morning of a couple of lines of coke, a can of beer and smoking a joint for breakfast that this wasn't the lifestyle he signed up for.

Mr. JC will always be 21 in his head. He's heading for the big 60 next year..........so he'll be wanting a skateboard.

Just going to have a quick run to Aldi get home and sit with my feet in the fridge.

Move your feet JC, need some coolness. Another scorcher here today. Didn’t do a lot. Grocery shopping and a bbq this evening. Feet up now crocheting. Better way to spend a Friday night than getting wasted. Have a great day everyone.

Luckily, we had a bit of clouding over and a little bit of a breeze.........long enough for me to dash into the conservatory to get the cacti and succulents put out over night.

Mightily hacked off at the S&H's girlfriend. It was her birthday on 27th and of course we got her a present....they've been together 12 years....not a text, not a wee phone call.........just a generic post on FB to thank everyone for her gifts. The fact that Mr JC has worked his arse of getting their house remortgageed to a cheaper deal before the end of June and I made what felt like 3 thousand cupcakes for a party she organised.........we're lumped in with the lass that does her nails. FFS.

The S&H got his Wine Diploma today. Delighted for him he's worked hard. Its not all about the drinking off it there's a lot of science stuff im there and about soil quality.

Jenny got her certification to teach (or whatever its called), been given seven year group (12/13 year olds) as her form class and starts on Monday. She's in two weeks in then she's off for six weeks.
