Re: Birds sobriety quest

Well welcome back DriftyAlison0. Stay the course. I keep coming back because I know I can’t moderate. Its only a dream. My moderation goes straight down the toilet after a nice buzz. All down hill from there...... UGH

Day 3. Is that all? It seems like 2 weeks hahaha. Feeling good today and morning meditation was nice. No big plans for today. Doing some packing and getting ready to move. Maybe a bit of reading, which I have not been getting enough of lately. I just keep thinking the more I work the faster I can get moved. I need to take time for self care though, so I do not end up drinking. All work and no play makes bird a drunk chick......b

You got this. I am to on day 3 and just need to get thoughts of AL out of my head.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

Hi all,
Welcome Slo!.....Day 5 and feeling very well today. Morning meditation was on working with habits of resistance and aversion. Good stuff. More tools to help me along. You can never have too many tools. Doing some hard physical labor today. It sure makes for a good sleep. Ate too much junk food yesterday, so will try to do better today......b

I am here again. I keep coming back like a bad penny. Need to get my thoughts together and need to continue with this group for support and networking!

You're not a bad penny or a bad person, Rava. You're a worthy, valuable woman who is addicted to alcohol and struggling to get free. That doesn't define you even though while you're in the midst of it, it feels that way.

The way to get free is to keep trying no matter what. Keep coming back. It looks like it was "easy" for many of us because we apparently succeeded on our first try. That couldn't be further from the truth! I failed over and over on my own until I joined here (in shame and desperation) and got the support I needed to finally quit. You can do this the moment you decide you are DONE. Then, use this site and the people here as well as any other tools you've found, to keep that decision intact.

I know it doesn't seem like it, but like Pav's avatar says, You've had the power all along. All the best, NS

Hi all,
Day 6.....Rava there are so many ups and downs when trying to quit. You are doing something just being here and posting......I had a rough day yest. Drinking thoughts went on for hours. Ended up having to go out later in the evening, but managed to get home without caving. It was awful, but so worth it to wake up clear headed..another day of heat and hard work ahead. I will watch what I eat and take my little bottle of liquid b-12. It is supposed to help with the cravings. I'll try anything......b
