After 7 years back to day 1

I can't believe that I am back to day one. I drank last night and there was a couple of other times when I drank but I was too embarrassed with myself to confess to you all. Now I am back on day 1. Although my hangover is not bad, the fact that I had 7 years of soberity then blew it over some cheap drinks makes me feel sick.

So do not ever take your quit for granted and never let your guard down. I did that mistake and now am back to day 1. I will be coming here more often that is for sure.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

DriftyAlison0... WOW...AL is SO cunning and baffling for sure. GEEZ...so sorry for you! Please, please, come and join us on The One Step At A Time Thread. Some of us have been sober for a while and then others have been sober for a good while but then fight hard to stay away from the AL beast. We are a kind, compassionate bunch. I admire you for your courage, honesty and class in admitting that you drank.

I have always followed you on MWO. I think you are about 20 years younger than I am but your wisdom was and is, so greatly appreciated.:happy2:

Hi Drifty, same thing happened to me after 7 years too. Then it was 4 further years of trying to get it back. Now I have over 5 months. Good luck to you!

Hi, Drifty--

Good on you for coming back so quickly!

As someone who is trying to learn from others here, I am curious if you have any analysis of what happened? I am really, really trying to avoid doing that because I have a healthy fear that it would take me a LOOONG time to get back on the horse again. Any advice for us?

Thanks for sharing - we'll see you around!

When I drift away from here, Drifty, I know my guard goes down. I am one who forgets the 'bad stuff' pretty easily. That often is a blessing but here I can see it could be a curse!!

My Analysis is that I went away from here thinking that I could do it. And then let my guard down and let peer pressure get to me.
