Re: July Army Manoeuvres

Fabulous breeze today.

Hopefully, none of us ever have to make that choice but I'd do what my Dad did. He did however on his way back from his specialist on the way home and buy some tobacco and papers and start smoking again. He had morphine for the pain and a nurse that called every day but he managed with very little of that. He wanted to keep his wits about him. The only thing that really pissed him off was he wasn't allowed to drive. Which was probably a great relief to the other drivers as he had to be one of the worse drivers ever to take to the roads.

I'd take the lot.
And I'd try smoking weed - have never done that !
I'd borrow & drive a police car down the M50 and scare the motorists shitless. I'd LOVE that. The power .............

I smoked a good bit, but I was never stoned without AL too, so I wouldnt trust myself on weed/hash..
12 weeks, Id probably drink and regret it immediately. :crybaby: Could I have laughing gas?

Your poor mam satz123. Did you manage to get her a place in your work?

Talking of pigs - they are being covered in factor 50 sunscreen I heard yesterday. Same pale skin as us
HUGE trouble about this - and rightly so :

Morning,
satz123..........that made me howl :hahaha: You'd have to have the sirens going as well. Have an image of the two police drivers watching as you shot off asking each other if they one of them was supposed to go with you.

IamMary.........I have to admit I fainted. You should see the size of them even on six month old piglet. :egad: I was very naive. They just carried on around me until I emerged from under the table to get back to my job of trotter holding.

Mers - I don't think my Mam will be fit enough to go to a Nursing Home to be honest. Her lungs are fecked - her blood oxygen levels keep falling. She had a close call there the other day with fluid on her lungs ..... emergency treatment.
if she was not in hospital with her broken wrist she'd be gone

Not sure she's quite ready to go anywhere yet - but hospital is wearing her down - seems to be getting worse instead of better
Look after yizzer bones ladies - get a DEXA scan - most older folk end up with something broken and changes everything for them. They never recover.

Too right, Satz.
Plenty of vitamin D to start. I have memories of a teaspoon of cod liver oil, one of rose hip syrup and one that tasted of oranges every morning before school...........sure my mum used to pick it up at the doctors......it was to promote good teeth (didn't help my teeth but that's me to blame) and bones..........luckily they're pretty good.

I've just had my Complan. That's full of Vit D and calcium.

Off to see the nurse for her to take an armful of blood.

Re: July Army Manoeuvres

Afternoon folks.

Wimbledon. Oh dear... another excuse to procrastinate and not get my heid down to do this darn dissertation :haha: But I did at least work on it this morning.. was up at silly o;clock (4am) so took advantage and blasted 3 hours of work then went for a wee tootle on me bike.

Was in Glasgow yesterday seeing an old friend. We only ever see each other at most couple of times a year. He's in his mid 60s, has one of the sharpest and cleverest minds I know, but sadly not well - he called me a couple of weeks back, I think because he had a bit of a scare in May and was in hospital for 5 nights, and knows time's ticking closer. Feck knows how he's survived though! He's got serious emphysema - can hardly walk 25 yards without having to stop to catch his breath. Even talking can be tireless. But then 50+ years of smoking Drum tobacco was never going to earn him a healthy pair of lungs. He's also bipolar, lacks appetite - so skinny he makes rakes look obese - , has gammy hips and HIV. Not that the HIV will kill him. He knows his lungs will do it for him. When I saw him yesterday it was the first time he looked really fecking old. We went for a bite to eat, tho he only had a hot chocolate. It's one of those things... when you realise that saying goodbye might be for the last time. It sounds horrid. But he could be here for Christmas, or he could fade away tomorrow.

Hmmm... sorry, that was a bit morbid sounding. Just thinking it through.

Right, hoping Konta can get this second set so I can get back to dissertation writing... at least for an hour or two. It's a bit hot and I might fall asleep.

Ah RC that is sad. but we all have to live our lives as we see fit I suppose ? We make choices along the line.
Mid - sixties is FAR too young to be dying
What a waste of that clever mind ! - unnecessary if it's the smokes that did it ....... saddens me.

Evening everyone. Very sad RC. Hope your Mom feeling bit better Satz. I too was dosed with the Delrosa and olive oil JC. Another beautiful day here. It’s become the norm now, heaven help us when it rains. Trying to catch up on housework

RunningCourage.............I used to love Wimbledon but went off it when the grunting started. Yer poor man that's so sad. I suppose in our youth we think we're indistructable and some of us carry on trying to beat the odds. This heat can't be helping. Heard last night on the BBC news (so it must be true) that around your area you got the highest ever temperature ever recorded for the UK.

rustop59...........have you not heard a law's been passed by the EU that its illegal to do housework in this heat.........

The nurse got her blood......felt like a deflated balloon afterwards.

It was going to be a rant but the amount of over-tired, badtempered and squealing toddlers about today was unbelievable. I felt like telling the yummy-mummies to take their little blighters home.......close their curtains and let them rest where its cooler. I really fely sorry for the wee ones who just wanted to stop being forced to have a nice and jolly time in the sun.
