Re: July Army Manoeuvres
Also wondering how the Starty pupper is?
Horrifying story about that poor young boy in the accident. There's just not one good thing about alcohol. I wish I lived with the Amish at the moment.
I notice that overwhelmingly, JC, we all want you to shit in SIL's handbagIf your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

I am not the least bit scholarly so I would have a helluva time trying to carry on a simple conversation about the subject, never mind write a dissertation. I do have a questions tho'. Children have their own logic and I think that changes as they grow and learn and read and experience life. At what age can a child start to "philosophize" and not just look at things with a logic that is in relation to their age? Note that I live in the country where some of the world's great philosophers were born, not that it has made any difference to my own unique way of thinking.
The link is from a VERY old clip from 1989 of Dr Catherine McCall (she worked with Lipman, and developed philosophy with children to work with kids as young as 5 or 6). Start at 6:37 - it's incredibly grainy and the sound quality is shite, but it gives you a wee taste of 6-yr olds having a philosophical discussion.

I'm a teacher - so, education i suppose. In terms of Uni, officially it's probably Educational Studies with a focus on Philosophy with Children... but there is much crossover - we study childhood development at uni as part of studying to be a teacher - cognitive and moral development of children - so that's both psychology and Early childhood... and my personal interest is in philosophy with sprogs.Last edited by RunningCourage; July 17, 2018, 07:21 AM.
