      I was trying to find a post from my Day 1 and haven't located it yet. But here is something that I posted on about Day 5.

      I was in a bad place. Drinking to numb myself, to sleep, to avoid everything. I am tired of not remembering the evening before. Trying to pretend that I remembered conversations or things we did. I am tired of waking up feeling guilty and shaky. Spending hours waiting to come out of it only to do the exact same thing that night.

      I can't think about not drinking tomorrow. But, today I am not going to drink. I already posted on the Newbies Nest roll call and Another 24 Hours.
      I am back to one step at a time. I have it tattooed on my foot for goodness sakes. I better start reading it!
      THANK YOU EVERYONE!! I just don't have the words to express how very grateful I am for the support.

      For anyone out there struggling - it does get better. I didn't believe it and I certainly didn't believe that I could do it. But, I am doing it and so can you. :heartbeat:

        Nora - HUGE congratulations on THREE YEARS AF!!! Well done! I know from a quick skim over the Stepper's thread from time to time that life has not been especially easy for you during the last few years with your Mom's situation and other factors. Good for you on sticking to your goal of keeping AL out of your life!. You're right - life does get better and we are living that better life right now- with all the good and the bad that it throws it but at least we are living it sober! Again, great job!!
