Re: One Step at a Time - August 2018

Oh Glassie - That's so hard to have that talk with the vet. I'm sorry that you are dealing with it all too.

I couldn't go back to the exam room with them (I happen to have an eye phobia to top all of this off) so I was sitting in the waiting room. Scott was texting me updates and I was sitting out there crying texting back that I didn't want her to suffer. So, he talked to the vet again and was assured that she would recover and be happy again.
I called Casey & let him know. He is so upset. He plans on coming over & visiting her on Friday.

Sorry my friends – I should clarify that Bella may well have another year or two ahead of her with the right medication. Her main problem at the moment seems to be the onset of dementia rather than pain (she’s about to turn 16). She’s currently taking daily meds for her thyroid issues and inflammatory bowel disease.

And she’s also on Gabapentin (so not only is she having relief from her arthritis and anxiety, but I don’t have to worry that she’ll raid the wine cabinet while I’m at work!)

Sorry - bad joke but sometimes you really just have to laugh or you'll

LOL glassy, I needed that laugh with the wine cabinet.
Nora, I am so sorry. She is having the surgery today? A former coworkers dog had eye surgery and did fine. She lived another couple of years to the ripe old age of 16. She lost vision in the other eye and as long as she didn't move things around in the house the dog did fine.
I'm so sorry you are all dealing with these pet issues too. I know you understand, they are family. Nora, I know what you mean about going into the room with the dog. I am so grateful hubby is stepping up to the plate in that regard. He fought vehemently about getting a dog, I thought this would all fall on me.
Lucy is sadly still quite under the weather this morning, but slept all night. Up early again because she will go today again.
I don't know about you guys but self care is out the window right now, just trying to keep my head above water.
Hoping for a great AF Thursday for us all. Love you guys

Liz sweetie, just keeping your head above water is self-care in my book considering what you've been going through. Wow - you've really had the book thrown at you lately you poor love. Please promise you'll keep talking to us.

Also I'm going to say the same to all of my Stepper friends - you're all dealing with really hard family situations and I applaud your strength in the way you're doing so.

Went to the farmers market in the park yest. It was so hot. Took dd1 to dinner. She is moving out Saturday. Going to see dd2 this aft at her marching band job. Excited about that. Went furniture shopping last night. The salesmen followed us around, worse than buying a car. Might have to do it online hehehe....busy day. Good luck with pets today Nora and Lizann. Good Morning, Friends!

Big hugs to all our thread pets who are in sick bay!

Liz:hug: So far you have had a year I am sure you will want to forget! I am so sorry, sweetheart, for all that you have been through this year: your dad's passing, Mark leaving, your job change, Lucy...wow, you poor baby, it never seems to end. I give you SO much credit for not drinking. I leave Utah tomorrow. I am so ready to go home!

Nora-I pray Molly's surgery goes well today.:heartbeat:

Glassie-loved the yoga pic with Bella. I didn't know cats could get IBS or dementia! 16! Wow, you have obviously taken good care of her.

bird-I laughed and then I felt badly for you because the salesman was following you around. LOL to shopping online...great move! I can't stand car salesmen...that's why I am about a year late to start vehicle shopping.

Pauly-the haze has lifted here and finally we can see the mountains.

Happy AF Thursday and Let's All Practice Some Form of Self-Care. For me, it is exercise after work. ;-)

Bella is such a cutie, Glassie.
Rusty - good to hear from you.
We are going to go pick Molly up in a few minutes. Broke my heart to drop her off this morning.
Liz - how is Lucy doing today? Is she feeling any better?
Pauly - are you still getting the smoke?
Bird - I hate furniture shopping with somebody trying to help. It's like back away & let me look. You sound happy though.

BIrd, I swear the people in furniture stores are like vultures! I can not stand that! Even if you say, I'm just looking, they are lurking at every corner! Go to IKEA, you can't get anyone to help you there!
Rusty, thank you for your kind words. I'm sure your week was long and there's nothing like your own bed.
NOra, how did things go today? I'm going to have to check fb for the Molly picture. Don't know how I missed it. How are you holding up?
GLassy, loved the cat yoga picture. What a cutie:love: are you ready for your trip? Coming up and I am excited for you. Would love to sneak into your suitcase and join you!
Lucy did ok today. Everyone at the vets office says how sweet and wonderful she is. I am seeing very slight improvement in her. She came to greet me and wagged her tail, she followed me a bit tonight which she hasn't done since this started. She doesn't want to eat anything. Vet said to do whatever we had to to get the anti nausea pill down and we did try everything. Lucy ate a whole piece of salami ever so slowly, but she ate it and the pill. I notice her balance is better too, so baby steps. Still no self care, but I didn't drink either. I lost a few pounds does that count?
Nora keep us posted?
Pauly how are you doing? Hug Winslow for me please?

Have a good peaceful AF night.

Hi all. I appreciate all the support. Molly is home - definitely looks the worse for wear. But, she walked over to her water dish all by herself. We have to take her to a specialist for the other eye. I hope she doesn't lose that one too.
Liz - I'm glad that you see a little improvement with Lucy. I hope that it continues. Does she have another treatment tomorrow?

Lucy just left and she was not all at better this morning. I was up with her @ 3 am and let her out. I fear she will not perk back up and it's a long weekend.
Wishing everyone a great AF Friday.
