Re: August Army Manoevres

Ye know Cowboy I believe we all need to laugh more.... we take life too seriously and to what end ?
I spent 2 days 'giving out' about the people who went to see the Pope.
WHO am I to say they should not feel joy in going on the pilgrimage ?
From now on live & let live.
Once they acknowledge the hurt caused by the Church over the years - let them be happy for a day with the sense of occasion .

The positive for me today looking at it on TV was that that humble man gave hope to so many and a sense of belonging to something bigger. The sense of 'Belonging' was palpable. Belonging is what gives each of us hope and strength to keep moving forward.

There were many people there over the weekend who I'm sure are dealing with serious challenges that few others could ever understand. Yesterday afternoon in the Phoenix Park gave them a chance, on a showery, windy day, to smile and laugh for a few hours and keep moving forward in the knowledge that they are not alone.

Here endeth the sermon .......

Amen, great thoughts to start the week with. Back from the west and looking forward to life returning to normal. It’s been a lovely summer. My crochet class starts back next week so can’t wait. Need food and then will have a proper read back.

Evening all.

byebyebridgetjones.........thank you, pet lamb. It looked bewdiful this morning. I was feeling a bit yak last night. If you look on the sideboard there's some nice fruit and some fresh yoghurt and the biggest bacon sandwich on a very low heat in the oven for your brekfast.

Last time I had a sermon was 46 years ago when the Headmistress told me off about the shortness of my skirt........the fact I told her I was leaving in a couple of months and doubted my Mammy wouldn't buy me another one didn't go down well so I got my one and only detention in Grammar School.

Bank Holiday over here in NI, Wales and England no idea why they left Scotland out.

Been up to Rothbury to the wee arts and crafts place just for a nosey around.

Then had a nosey round the electical shops round our place and bought a new digital TV box.......(I think that's the right word)........he loves reading instructions whereas I just plug stuff in and wail ............why is it not working?
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Evening! No Bank Hol here unfortunately and it's been a long day.. undercurrents at work I can't read... 99% sure it's nothing to do with me - but...….. who knows!!
Came home to tearful daughter cos baby cried for 4 hours (allegedly) at the new childminders and it all gets dumped on us - AGAIN -- like I truly never ever brought worries to my mum - I was married at 21 and my worries stayed with me - I sometimes avoided visiting her so she couldn't 'read' my worries... just cross really -- like WTF am I s'posed to do about it? --- sorry - just really cross that I need to get that as I walk in the door from work - and now I shall stop complaining - just needed it off my chest...

How's everyone?

They don't call ma wee boaby "Wee willy winkie" for nothing :haha: Urban Dictionary: boaby

So famous is the wee man, they wrote a tune about him...

Wee Willie Winkie runs through the town,
Upstairs and downstairs in his nightgown,
Tapping at the window and crying through the lock,
Are all the children in their beds, it's past eight o'clock?

Wee Willie Winkie here's the reply,
He gies a sneekit grin; twinkle in his eye,
Creeping up the staircase to their mither's bed
She welcomes Willie Winkie by gie'in him some....

Bank Holiday over here in NI, Wales and England no idea why they left Scotland out. Yeah... suppose we must have it another day... BUT it's fecking annoying when all you hear is "have a great bank holiday" and I'm like, well it won't be GREAT cos i'm working and it's made a shit load worse by your mentioning of it! Told a manny from Virgin Media on the phone yesterday (he was calling from India I think...) to get it right after he said that very thing as I might not be the only scottish person he speaks to last night/today

I never dumped anything on my mother because she would have immediately have assumed it was my fault. We couldn't abide each other. I told her as little as possible.

Interesting point Mary - I think the use of the word "habit" is used (wrongly?) as something interchangeable with the word habit (in terms of addictions). "Habit" as more positive connotations than the word "Dependency" - think, sleeping habits, eating habits (all of which, yes can be negative) but even "bad habits" like chewing finger nails are seen as "light/non-serious") while 'dependency' connotes negative attributes: beyond al and drugs, think of "he is dependent on his family for..." "they are dependent on x to get y". Dependent seems to demand the need of "other" be it a drug, person or situation.

As for the habit of a bottle of wine a night, I do think it depends on the mental and physical constitution of each individual - certainly for me it was a dependency that had gone beyond a habit of having a drink each night. (ACTUALLY, i never had "A" drink! I think I always had the full bottle (6-pack or whatever) as I was drinking to sooth other aspects of my life which i wasn't able to deal with properly. Which in turn became (quickly probably) a dependency).

Dunno if that answers your thought or just confuses everyone. It is early :haha:

(Morning everyone!)
