Re: September Army!!!

Evening all,

Didn't get hit by a bus so here I am

Good to see Starty, Palo and Stirly, and rest of youse of course!

Youse never fail to amaze me with the support and compassion shown. Thank you all from bottom of my heart x
So lucky to have ye all as a virtual family x I truly do love you all just so yiz know x

Didn't make it to docs as had big appointment at school of dentistry re my jaw pain. Seems I've worn the joint to bits- nothing can fix it just manage the pain and the cause of my teeth grinding and jaw clenching. Needless to say got a long lecture regarding stress and importance of avoiding it! Yeah right, ended up telling him only way I could avoid it was to stop the world and let me off! Will be collecting a script for amitryptilline tomorrow to try and have got jaw exercises to do! Anyone here ever use it?

Satz- ya know YS is often in my thoughts. One thought in particular is, did any of us here quit first off?
Know with me there were years before this last quit where I wanted to stop, hated the drink, tried stopping but failed many, many times even though I knew quitting was what I had to do. I believe he has started his own journey, it will have ups and downs, so long as he doesn't give up and doesn't sound like he has. There is hope x

Hi Palo I don't think we've 'met' but it's great to see ye here. Good work on 7 years😊 Did you have a few? I don't have a hammer, would a spade do?!

Starty- glad that you're having a relaxing holiday- you certainly deserve it girl x

Stirly so good to see you too x How are you? Life 'happening' to you too?!

Mr D'Arsey dunno where you get the energy? Are you settled into P1 life yet?

Jacks where'd ye go after lunch? Mahoosive nanny nap?

Rustop how was your day? Did you get to the museum? Tell us how it was

Hi to everyone else

Yeah Rusty where was it ? I'd love to see it. Was it up Summerhill area of Dublin ?
Are your family originally from Dublin ? Mine are ....... maybe not tenements but my grandmother lived in an old house converted to flats on Summerhill.

Lol bloody buses!

Yeah think it was originally for depression but now also used for pain. Think dose he's giving is much lower than what would be for depression. Worth a shot anyways.

Hooked on watching this hearing in the US. Better than a movie! How sad am I?!

My folks went over the summer, really enjoyed it. My granny had a shop close to summerhill satz123, world would be very small if we kept going back :happy2:

sweetpea29 Can I be your cousin please? How are you feeling today? thats crap, having dental work on top of everything

Delighted to see stirly-girly and starty back with all their pearls of wisdom! 3 years Stirly! and look at all you have achieved in the past 12 months, you had a lot going on. Hows that Friend of yours?

Very glad to hear YS is back on track. Pick any reason why he keeps doing it, theres a million, as long as his desire to stop is stronger than everything else, he could do it this time.
I know I'd do half arse attempts to stop all the time, but the serious ones took a lot more stubborn determination.

Hi Palo, good to see you! 7 years is so impressive.. Why the hammer now, whats going on?

Good morning. Great to see so many familiar faces and welcome back Palo:welcome: good to have you on board. Fill us in on why you relapsed if itÂ’s not too intrusive? Enjoy your holiday Starty, good to recharge the batteries. DonÂ’t worry about it being about you Stirly, we love seeing you.

Delighted you have been to the Doc Sweetie. The US stuff is like a soap opera at the moment, keep wondering what future generations will think about it when they look back. Speaking of looking back, highly recommend the Tenament museum Satz and Mary. IÂ’m a culchie but thoroughly enjoyed it. Only fully opened last weekend and they have done a great job on it. Lots of the original features and they start with when it was built first and work their way up. ItÂ’s on Henrietta Street, off Dorset street I think. Had lunch in the Gresham after so lovely day out. Did I tell you folks that we are doing alphabetical tours? Been doing it for years, have seen places in Dublin I had never been to before.

Fell asleep early so awake at silly oÂ’clock. Think IÂ’ll Netflix for a while. Watching Ozark at the moment. Have crochet later so another full day. Think doing stuff you enjoy is one of the keys to staying sober.

Morning troops - ya still up rustop59?! Ozark - just finished that. It is a riff off Breaking Bad, but enjoyable enough all the same. Reckon there'll be a series 3 soon enough. Am just finishing the OA.

Pooped.com here - should really give myself another hour's kip, but say I'll have an early kip tonight, which compared to my Wed/Thu nights, I will. In the meanwhile, enjoying a quiet time with coffee and moseying at the papers online to get me up and ready for one more day of P1s before the weekend. Got my interview for the job I'm doing (!!??!!) on Tuesday morning. So as long as that goes ok, I'm good until June. Fingers crossed.
sweetpea29 hope the amitryptilline (how the feck d'ya pronounce that?!) works.
satz123 - when would YS start anteabuse if he were to go down that road. Hope he's been well these past few days.
JackieClaire - how are you today? Recommendations from Arsey for yummy food to help put the weight back on: macaroni cheese; macaroni cheese with extra cheese; macaroni cheese with smoked cheese; macaroni cheese with bacon; macaroni cheese with smoked sausage; macaroni cheese pies; macaroni cheese with chips and beans; macaroni cheese with a side of macaroni cheese.

Big waves to the rest of yis. Off to read then shower then the day ahead...

(Oh, not doing counting - never put days up on the Sunday Sober thread...BUT... knowing the last day i had a drink, today is 50 days since I last it. As i've said before, it's weird working on other issue I have and how that's taken the battle with AL away... not to say it's not there lurking tho.)

:goodjob: RC, delighted for you. Know you have a lot going on but you are dealing with it and getting there. The important thing is that you keep trying and really that’s all any of us can do. Very proud of you young man and good luck with the job. Ps agree with you regarding Ozark.

sweetpea29.............you're right I did have a mahoosive nanna nap..................it was very warm yesterday and on top of two big frothy coffees didn't half feel sick like proper poorly sick and lying flat seemed to help a lot.

The friend I met yesterday asked to borrow a tenner, I did lend him it but its left me feeling a bit off. I know he's on benefits but it just seemed right out of character

Evening,

starty.......where abouts are you? Two weeks on Monday 'til we get up to Loch Awe. It cannot come soon enough.

S&H off to Venice next week, him and his GF don't half get about. Young, free and hard workers.........they deserve it.

Going down to Jenny's for lunch on Sunday.

Who asked about relapsing?? I was a serial relapser from about 2002.......believe me I knew I was an alkie years before that. I drank to get drunk.Get a few weeks and sometimes even months then thought I could have a couple.......thought I was 'cured' but it got to the stage that each time it got worse..........there's something called the Kindling effect (have a google).......I was at the stage that nigh on each time I would need a medical detox..........four of them at a day centre. Never went to an in house re-hab because I was frightened the neighbours/family would know.

Words of wisdom for today............don't risk your sobriety for anyone or anything.
