Re: October Army Manoeuvres 2018

Afternoon all. Roast beef on the menu here today. Had lovely birthday dinner out last night, went for crab as starter and cod for the main course so felt like meat today. Was awake for hours during the night too JC, went back for an hour or two but been playing catch up since. Did walk the doggies though. Hope you feel better soon. Enjoy your grandson Stirly, waves to everyone else.

Re: October Army Manoeuvres 2018

Sorry not been around. Mr A been really poorly yesterday and I have been awake most of the night worrying.
I had an entry for a 10 mile race this morning and really did not want to go apart from being knackered--Anyway I decided to go and hated it, because I needed to get back quickly I ran as fast as my legs would take me and of course won 1st in category which included a bottle of wine! Sods law. Why do events etc think a reward for doing well is always alcohol.
Got home and Mr A is so much better now. Problem is now I would love to open that bottle of wine---I won't!!!!

Re: October Army Manoeuvres 2018

Been working all weekend again.
Had a nasty family in yesterday. Arrived - about 30 of them - with no notice - for their Mam's 90th birthday. 6 kids running riot.
You know the type - huge chip on their shoulders - think the world owes them something - and I was the snooty bitch on reception trying to put manners on them in what is actually the residents' HOME.
Obnoxious ......... and the kids were as bad ...... the next generation ...... with no basic manners or respect for anyone.

brit............you're going through the mill at the moment, sweetheart. I sometimes wonder if its better being the patient than the loved ones. Stick the bottle in a gift bag and get rid asap.

satz123......frustration above your pay-scale, not fair at all on you. I know exactly the type. I'll take a guess and say its only once in a blue moon that they actually front up and they feel they've done their 'duty' for 2018.

Mr. JC has got his dream wish for his 60th birthday..........drum roll........we're going to the Prix de l'arc de Triomphe next year in October........its long been a secret wish of mine as well. A long weekend in Paris with that as the highlight next October. Now we've got a year to plan what I'll wear.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Says he'll take one in the morning

Hey Arsey, when will you hear about the job? Hope you had a lovely dinner with your folks and your too stirly-girly with your grandson..

Anon, ridiculous having bottles of wine as race prizes (but Well done!). Recent race was sponsored by heineken, although it was the zero one.
Anyone ever drink that zero beer? Think Id be afraid it might open a tiny creek in the door...

Mers - it's only another cold drink as opposed to Soda with ice, lime & mint leaves ( posh)

But the question is why would you consider it
* To stop people asking questions?
* You like the taste?

If it's the former tell them to shag off ..... and repeat after me " I do not drink alcohol in any shape - it's poison. I did not get where I am - running the Dublin city marathon by drinking BEER"
No matter how much they protest - people don't drink beer for the taste.
Try get a child to drink beer ...
They drink it because it's cold and it's association with fun, sport, holidays, beer gardens - all propagated by the marketeers.

Sorry to hear you are going through that Ms A.

Whether you drink the wine or not - Mr A's health issues will be there in the morning.
But with a hangover you'll look at life more negatively.
It's about how YOU feel - so you don't want to feel any worse than you do. I'm not talking about guilt because you drank - I'm talking about how alcohol robs us of confidence & dignity. You don't need guilt.....

I know the wine would block out worry, but only for maybe an hour - maybe help you sleep ?
When you feel like that - best to have lots of chocolate ( not kidding) go to bed and take a sleeping pill if you can get one ........
All worry - which attracts more worry is blocked out with sleep - and you'll be fresh in the morning ....

Another well said............I agree.

You know I've never seen Mr JC (a lover of beer )...........have a NA beer when he's driving or got work the next day.......... he can't just can't see the point.

I've drunk no- alcohol wine...........but its not no alcohol its 0.05%....it was also hideously expensive....that was me fooling myself that I actually drank wine for the grape, the aroma, the taste and deep down I was trying to get at the 0.05% that was alcohol.

Non-alcohol any booze reminds me of a child squishing a couple of grapes in a glass of water so they could be like Mum or Dad.......its pretending.

I stopped pretending when I stopped drinking...........if it puts other people out then its their problem.

My turn for three in a row.............just spoken to Mr JC and he's not well either. We're blaming defrosted mini chocolate eclairs that had been in the freezer for 200 years.

Evening peeps
satz123 - YS off to Dublin today? Did he pop the antebuse? Fingers crossed. And hopefully Dublin won't trigger him.

And yes, MIA's please pop in - missing youse... and the more peeps go MIA, the less likely others will post :shakingno: not helpful for anyone.
brit - sorry to hear Mr A(b) (or is it Mr B(a).... Like BA Baracus: mr-t-16x9.jpg) had a rough night. Like the Doc Satz said, AL is momentary release, perhaps, but not an appeaser of the reality to be dealt with. As much as we may want it to be. (But you know this better than most anyways!). Thinking of you both loads

Re NA beer - used to drink it a lot... but now have no taste for it. Rather lime and soda. Or Ginger beer and lime. Or malty-yeasty-type drinks, which are kinda sweet but bitter and foreign tasting. Or 7up. I like 7up. If i wanted beer. I'd want BEER, not "beer". For now, it's 7up.
JackieClaire - darn those choice eclairs. Hope Mr JC not too unwell and back to spritely self asap.

Mers - got the job (they told me within the hour of the interview) but, as was saying to the Doc, they said "yep, you got it, but if it had been a strong field I wouldn't have" Which did LOADS for my self-esteem. :haha: :numbness:

You have the job RC so onward and upwards. Hope young Satz gets the job and keeps on the straight and narrow. Need to get some food. Will have a read back later.
