Thought you were not far away from the hotel. Would have invited you over for dinner but its not quite just popping over up there, is it? Luckily, Mr. JC likes nothing better than planning the root. So we avoided it going and it was open coming back......although it was a bit slow as they were doing the tidy up after the event thing. Its beautiful......eerie and mysterious.

Back to skool? How long do you get for half term? Jenny's got her very first half term end of October. She's done a whole 7 weeks and hasn't run out the school gates screaming...........yet

Back to skool? How long do you get for half term? Jenny's got her very first half term end of October. She's done a whole 7 weeks and hasn't run out the school gates screaming...........yet

I may resent them for the amount of hours they put in compared to 'the rest' including 3 months paid leave in Summer, mid-term breaks , Christmas hols, Easter hols etc tc etc ... where the rest of us get paid leave of 20 - 25 days A YEAR !!:cuss:
- but I will concede it's more a vocation than a job to teach kids.
I couldn't do it .

Night everyone. Busy day running around. Very quiet here today, hope you enjoyed your pajama day JC. I have used work as an excuse Satz and will do again. Once went to my crochet class and left visitors, said I had to go into work for training. Nobody questions work, put yourself first Mrs. We only walked on the greenway Mary, my friend was not interested in cycling. Would say it’s an easy cycle, very flat. Going to hit the sack now, night.

On way home yesterday from ferrying & hospital & food shopping the traffic was so bad one way I had to turn back and go another.
But I needed diesel - the needle on the fuel gauge was extremely low and I was afraid of stopping in the middle of traffic.
Traffic was heavy and the light had been on a while so I was really worried I'd run out before I'd get to fuel station...
So I pulled in to a parking lot and rang home to come with diesel in a container - son & husband were sitting on their arses after 4 hours of golf.

I was told "to take the chance & ring back if you run out "

Not you at all. That is JUST SHIT.
Here's one. I take my brother in because he broke up with his wife. He turns up at mine at 6pm at night with his 2 year old daughter and dog and a bag. That was over 6 weeks ago now. He has given me a total of $200 towards expenses. Convert that to pounds.... He feeds the girl and changes her then sticks his head in a gadget 24 hours a day sans sleeping time. Does not work of course - who would have time. So the girl screams for attention and I get to discipline her, hence mean Aunty Bridge. Then I eyeball him and insist that he at least help out with lawn mowing. It is now half done and has been for days. House looks like something out of 'Shameless'
Attempting to avoid a neighbourhood complaint, I work feverishly in the garden to tidy the front, fall over and roll my ankle. I ask him to take me to ED for xrays and he very shitilly does so, pushing the wheelchair into walls with one hand and taking off as soon as I was triaged.
I could go oooonnnn and oooonnnn and ooooonnnn.......hang on, can't we start a blog here??

Here here Bridge, time for you to be selfish and its not even about being selfish, its not pandering. Its a learned helplessness with some of them.. Its my own fault when the kids are incapable of the basics. And obviously there are those that really do need us.
So we can a) feel sorry for ourselves or b) do something about it.

I just popped in to say night-night and turned into a keyboard warrior.

Jacs that accommodation looks superb. What an amazing place. I think one of my sober goals should be to save to re-visit the UK and Europe. I'll be spending a lot more time in Arsy-land this time. You know I never went to Chelsea? Yep, just decided. Long term plan in place. Make that medium term..

Eh Bridge, he is taking the piss. Seriously. Has he got a plan? Why is he not working? Theres no sense in you getting angry about this.. can you draw a line in the sand, 2 more weeks and X Y & Z has to be done every day..
I mean if you were coming home to a sparkling house, clothes washed, dinner made and the garden blooming, thats a win win all around. And take the wifi router to work with you, might help.

Yes, we took the ferry to Wales. Did a couple of weekend trips over here too, all good..

2 weeks of no teaching - but half of first week taken up with meetings (though most get one week in Scotland, but Argyll & Bute don't get additional mid-term days off as others do - all schools get exactly the same amount of teaching days)

BUT... it is a bit of a misnomer that it's all "holidays". Most teachers I know work part of the holidays. Some of summer break prep is usually spent a) studying the year group yer to be teaching, b) planning & making resources, c) taking down/clearing out/moving classrooms. Sure, it doesn't take 6 weeks (don't know any school that gets 3 months summer vacation... if you could tell me, I'll be applying to that school!!), but it does eat into your hols.

As for the other breaks I'd say at least half were spent planning. Simply there is not time during term to plan all lessons. E.g. at least half of my Xmas and Easter break is spent planning lessons and resources as I know there's not the time once term starts. There's too much beurocratic/admin shite to deal with during term time. (The upside is I can plan in bed, or in the middle of the night).
