Re: October Army Manoeuvres 2018

Good morning everyone. Another beautiful autumn day. I love lists too and get great satisfaction crossing things off. We all do a certain amount of sticking our heads in the sand but I always feel better when I get to cross off something I really didn’t want to do. Well done on getting the finances back on track JC. Took today off work so going to take the doggies out now for nice walk.

OK, well I promised Satzy, so it must be done.
That's Day 1 done for me. I've been sweating acidic bullets all day at work. How strange that I have only just started to wonder lately if I stink of alcohol most days. I mean, why wouldn't I?
I imagine tonight will be an horrendous night's sleep full of toilet trips - if my kidneys forgive me that is. But at least my first words on waking tomorrow morning won't be 'Oh FUCK!'
There's something to look forward to now.
Thanks to NoSugar for bumping KTAB's thread. What a loverly read.
I have been inwardly accusing my brother of being no company for me and grumpy arsehole with no personality. But tonight we had a conversation, so I wonder who was really to blame there?
Anyway, I'm exhausted, and I deserve that. I'll head off to bed.
Night lovely ones and thanks for being here.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Jacs, I got seriously ill some years ago and I remember the hardest thing about it was realising that I'm not bulletproof. It came to me one morning in hospital and I sat there and howled my eyes out. I hated feeling vulnerable but we all are. Those kids may as well realise that too.

Satz I really know where YS is at, I'm afraid. Tell him to get back at it. From Aunty Bridget.

rustop59 Mr S & my young Niece did the Spinc - me & sis had to turn back as I had a cough & she was breathless & complaining of chest pain :haha: We wouldn't make it up & over !!! And it was flippin' freezing.
Next time when I'm fitter with no cough.

Though next day we didn't know the route down to Lough Dan & ended up almost on oxygen masks coming back :hahaha:

Afternoon folks and evening Bridge

Lol at the vodka Jacks!
Thank you for your suggestions x Funny thing is I'm more than often awake before the alarm and can't lie on, much as would like to. Problem is I get up at that early hour and waste that time drinking endless cups of coffee, smoking too many fags and procrastinate and feel like crap for doing nothing positive.

Small change this morn. Awoke at 7am and instead of doing my usual nothingness, sure had me coffee, washed and dressed and took myself a 5 min drive to a wonderful country park. Walked up Cavehill which boasts views over all the city and beyond. Glorius it was. Took load to council dump and came home to have some porridge. Have a work meeting this afternoon then will head down to Daddy and see how things go there!

Mary -liking your Doing One Thing idea! Genius! Detest those niggly financial things too, but do always feel better getting them outa the way.

Rustop - hope you've had a nice walk with the doggies. This weather is certainly the best for walking I think.

Bridge- hope you are deep in your nights sleep right now. About the stinking of booze, it never entered my head until a colleague and good friend passed comment one day in work. Mortified is not the word.
Good job on Day 1

Off to shower

It was about 4 in the evening too - so the smell lingered till that time .....OMG !

Late night check in from me.
The day after we came back from our honeymoon, there was a faint smell of oranges..........turned out the smell was me due to the huge amounts of Cointreau I'd drunk the night before.
I was proper hungover.

Well I noticed the involuntary 'jerk back' a couple of times. Sat beside one guy for years, he never missed a trick so Im sure he knew well. Hes not near me anymore but I often feel like running up to him and suggest he smells me now, soap and toothpaste :happy2:

Xpost JackieClaire.. you are so right and can happen in a blink (still didnt do it! tomorrow)

Watched this program for the first time last night and it warmed the cockles of my jaded heart. Hope the link works and if you can get it on catch-up TV give it a go. Remarkable.

Look at how many of us are out there running marathons, hiking, volunteering. Might have moved past all the giving up alcohol chat but if you are at the bottom of a bottle then just reading about this shows that another life is out there for the living and boy is it good :welldone::welldone:

Morning all - quick check in before I head into the madness :checkin:
JackieClaire from working in the old folks home I see that all older folk want is someone to talk to that isn't an older person. They don't see themselves as old.
In their minds they are still young & think the same thoughts - just their body let them down somewhere along the way.

I felt it myself the other day shopping. At the till the girl looked at me and asked if I needed help to pack my bags. FFS .....
I consider myself fit and healthy ....... I'd climbed 2 mountains FFS .....so I broke a sweat trying to keep up with her while packing the bags.... I DID IT and was waiting for HER :hahaha:

Sensitive? moi ? :culpability:

Morning,
I'm very lucky that I had my Gran 'til she was 100 years old, still lived on her own and 90% of her faculties. Feck, I miss her. But she loved us grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.......we did have to heave her off the floor after she'd been playing with Lego with the youngest great-granchild........he'd have been about 6..........she was 97. She'd much rather have spent time with the kids than in her words........the moaning minnies up the road.

Happy Halloween and of course..........

This is the part that I like. Jumping into bed at 9pm freshly showered and an hour of gardening after work while the dinner bakes.
I had forgotten the fatigue though. It's crushing. God you spend a lot of time going to the toilet when you're a drunk. I'm sure I got an extra 1.5 hours out of my evening just that alone. Wonder what else I've forgotten?

Satz and Rustop, have you met before. I keep thinking you might have walked straight past one another on the weekend and not known:eek-new:

I love old people that don't turn into 'old people'

Hey Satz, maybe girly was asking everyone if they needed help with their bags, love?

Today I found out that one of the neighbours who is losing it mentally has been saying she saw me kissing another woman in my garden. This was told to me by another neighbour. She reckons he's a pedophile so he went to the coppers about her. The whole office was in stitches about it though. They reckon I should have my own float at Gay Mardi Gras next Feb. Might be a bit much. I've only been gay for about 8 hours. Still getting used to it. She also reckons the old boy Verne across the road is an alcho (he's a tea total Christian) Maybe if I tell her it's me who's the alcho she'll ease of on the les rumours....hmmmm....

Oh well that's Day 2. I wish Tabbers would come back too.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?
