Re: November Army Manoeuvres 2018

Ah, miss a day here and it takes an age to catch up - A lot going on, I need to take notes!
Poor you Stirls, thats hard.
How are things with you brit?

How come you and Mr S are so genetically alike satz123? did you ever follow it up? That must have been very tough, 22 weeks.. I lost a baby at 14 weeks and think about how old he/she would be, how our lives would be different..

On poking in peoples stuff in work - thats just rude. you need a special notebook, with PRIVATE on the cover, then cover it with super glue, honey and cactus needles.

Hope all well with Mr JC in law JackieClaire

Finished Sinner. Watching the Girl on the Train.

Good on you Mary. I wanted to see Girl on the Train again.
I'm also getting right into Pinterest again. There are so many great ways to spend your time these days. No excuse for boredom.

I'm wondering where you are too Sweaty?

My family aren't enormously good communicators either Arsy. That's why I got a way with my drinking for so long. It's always a bit forced and feel like I have to keep everything 'nice'. Used to read a fair bit about toxic niceness. Anyway I'm babbling now.

Hope the JC patriarch is OK there JC. I know you've got a soft spot for the old boy.

Rusty, it always sounds so nice at yours. Nice fire and some gentle activity going on
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Morning,
Pa-in-law has a condition known as Myasthenia Gravis.......not nice but rarely fatal. He's got medication that will help loads. NHS working at its best yesterday. Saw consultant twice, bloods taken, diagnosis in less than three hours. byebyebridgetjones........I am very fond of him. He's a wonderful man stepped up my dad in a very subtle way when mine shuttled off 19 years ago. In fact I'm so lucky with my in-laws. Love the very bones of them.

RunningCourage.........wondered where you'd wandered off to. Families are hard and harder at this time of year when we're all supposed to be having joyous times when quite frankly we're tired. Perhaps like pop-up shops we should have pop-up Christmases.

Sorry just a quickie. Got to go get reayd to meet your women about volunteering.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

See Jacks there would be no stress if they didn't start all the Christmas shite in October. They whip us all up into a frenzy for 3 months - then just as we're getting into it on 25th December they whip the rug from under us and tell us cop on, lose weight & start booking a holiday ... what are we waiting for ?

Now if only we knew who THEY were :haha:

Back to work with a proper shift starting next Friday in the cafe. I'll be helping in the kitchen and getting my very own rubber gloves.........then they'll let me loose in the cafe...........I'll have to learn the difference between a flat white, skinny latte and a cappucino.

We should track 'THEY' down and force them to watch Chrimbo adverts on loop........ especially the 'Toffifee' one. They are so much fun and all the family love them and everyone and their family turn up just to have one.

Well the 'They' that decide we all must get stressed and spend gazillions for the next 3 weeks are causing arguments with my clan!
There is the non commercial side that think we should skip all adult presents (the other side call them the hippies). Then there's the commercial side that want to increase the purchasing budget (the hippies call them the Kardashians). I am involved in Negotiations (they call me the Negotiator ). Its great craic....

Night all. Late check in, was in the city having lunch with friends and loads to do when I got home. Keeping myself occupied with enjoyable things is the key to staying sober Bridget. Read the book and watched the movie and agree with Mary. Don’t envy you that job Mary. Read about an Icelandic Christmas tradition today. They all give each other books on Christmas Eve and then they curl up eat chocolate and read. Now that’s my idea of bliss :heartbeat: don’t suppose you could sell that idea to your clan. Wow your own marigolds JC, things are looking up and you are already our barista here in the army so you have all the experience you need.

Arvo All,
Sneaky check in from work, as you do.
Well done JC on the job. That will keep you off the streets.
One thing I've remembered Rusty is to plan. Never been good at it, but if you don't plan your time and activities especially down time, you're asking for trouble. Even if it is just reading, there is a sense of deliberateness about it which is helpful.
That movie scared the crap out of me Mary. We are making ourselves so vulnerable when we drink. It's not on Netflix here, but I think I will track it down this weekend for good measure.
I'll be home in an hour and will do a good read back then.
A weekend filled with garden time for me.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

:harhar:

I'm a hippie. Actually that's not strictly true as I do like to receive and I do love to give. To be honest I think there is something very special in the acts of giving and receiving that can embrace the ethos of xmas... but today's commercialisation and the big, expensive, lavish and frankly far too many presents sucks all of this dry. I HATE how my niece's gran on her maternal side give a walloping huge sack of xmas pressies to her on xmas day - one from Santa and one from her.... and then there's the inevitable load of gifts from her parents too. She no longer knows what she's been given by whom and the essence of the giving and the gift are lost

But to not give anything at all i think kinda shuns the beauty of the intentions behind the act of giving and the grace of receiving.

Here endeth Friday's sermon.

:hahaha:

Morning troopers!

In bed cos i can't be arsed running or getting ready to cycle to work. Too wet and windy and the yoga last night was so strenuous from my unstretchy body that I've told it, it must had a day off from moving. Car to school.

Hope yis all have lay plans for the weekend.

Reading book just now - "Why Buddhism is True" by Robert Wright - really insightful read - funny and easy too - for those interested in mediation and it's benefits. Definitely think there is benefits to helping get off/stay off the grog if meditation/mindfulness is your thing.

If not, I recommend cookies and netflix.

Off to do some early morning prep -

Morning D'Arsey & all to come

IamMary - laughed out loud at hippies v Kardashians. Hippies want to make their own gifts ? e.g. melon seed bracelets. Well when I was a hippy that what we made - Jesus. Take the seeds - dry them - varnish them, string them and wear them. I kid you not.

JackieClaire - good work getting proper hours ....:applause:

I'll buy that for YS this year. Sounds like something he'd read

byebyebridgetjones you are doing great  You are so lucky to have Summer down there to help get you out in the garden. It's grey & dreary over here. One of the reasons they say the pub culture is so prevalent in Ireland. That ......... and we love to get pissed & tell our tales of woe about the British oppression in song & story.

Giving all year 'round means much more. To send a little gift or card out of the blue ( JC does it :hug means more than any big gesture at Christmas. To know someone is thinking about you means so much. I'll include in that giving of your time too.
