Re: January 2019 Army Manoeuvres

Cross posted there NS, some very good points. The Satz one is off at a wedding. Not sure of the exact date, very confused as to the day of week over the holidays and here in Ireland some of the weddings are on over two days. Looking forward to seeing her finery.

Evening all,
Ah dont be giving out if we like your post NoSugar! :smiles:I hang off your words and HAVE to Like them! But I do know what you mean about the constant 'validation' need - Im really conscious of this with my kids. Even the most level headed of aunts and uncles post pics of their cousins constantly on whats app and it becomes almost competitive (justified because its not FB, but its still looking for the same reaction!).

Where's RunningCourage this weather?

What a lovely personal present. Hows life with the new man?

I know what you mean Paulie.. and we have talked about having a big thread before, because numbers dwindle, but old habits die hard and we end up in our own corners :happy2: . I love when this thread becomes more global, hard to bookend then..

Sorry I haven't been posting - but I have been busy with the ' wedding of the year'
All about ME first.
All the effort was worth it - the outfit was very nice. Elegant & a kinda 40s vibe.
But I really hate high shoes & dresses I have to say.

The Wedding : it went on & on & on.
We were in the church for 1pm and the meal finished at 10.30pm - Jesus !

The bride & groom were lovely but Jesus there are only so many times they need to be told how wonderful they are , their families are wonderful, the venue is wonderful ...... on & on.
The wine was flowing all through the 3.5 hour meal .......... I was starving.
The music only started at 12 midnight ... by such time my feet were killing me & I was ready for bed. I stuck it out 'till 1am.
I wearing a big flowing tent and a pair of flip flops to the Oz nuptials of Bridge & MrG :haha:

The wedding reception alone we reckon cost in excess of 20k. Madness.
Rant over ......

I give up. What is bookending a thread?
What a lovely present from Jenny JC.
Yesterday by complete coincidence I met a young girl who gave up sugar and has lost 15 kilos in about 2 months. Amazing effort.
I have lost about 5 kilos since giving up the sauce and yesterday had my blood pressure medication reduced again. My skin is clear, sleep is better. There's no down side.

You are right Pauly and NoSugar, those buttons are a lazy way out. I'm not that into social media - it's terrible time waster. I'd rather read a book.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

AH there you are Satzy. You can wear whatever you want to me wedding love.
Honestly I could never spend that amount of money on a wedding. Ridiculous. All for one day. I'd rather run off and spend the money on a holiday or a house extension, get married in France or something.
I was a bridesmaid once. Still got the poxy dress. I spend thousands getting to the wedding and all the fussing about and people behaving like arseholes. I no longer speak to the couple thank God and she spent the first years of her marriage shagging other men behind his back - then telling me about it and using me as cover!!! Honestly WTF?

Sounds like sheer torture Satz! Too long to be in one place Bridget, bookending is posting then having hours or a full day go by and it's you posting again basically talking to yourself cuz nobody else has posted,it's pretty frustrating
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

I doubt I'll sleep again...........just did a catch up watching of Luther and my heart's still pounding........... byebyebridgetjones..........just pass a couple of your spare blood pressure pills over this way.

NoSugar.......I damned near liked your post. :egad: I can @@@@@ all day long.

IamMary...........Jenny's BF is a joy to be around. If she dumps this one we'll adopt him. He makes the 6'4"Mr. JC look short as he's mahoosive. His granny's from Iceland and he's very Viking like. Pity anyone stood behind him at a rugby match.

satz123.............shagging nightmare.
Sounds like the wedding of our next door neighbour's daughter........into church then off to some stately home in the middle of nowhere famed for its pheasants........so the wedding theme was pheasants from the invitations to the cake with half a dozen feathers sticking out of it.........not once in the what felt like a decade there did we see a live pheasant, ate a pheasant or even heard a pheasant.

Ohh I've got kaftan at the back of the wardrobe and some flip-flops and a lovely flower power floppy straw hat.

rustop59.........I have the same arrangement with them leaving it behind the bin at the back.

paulywogg........just a quick @ and  pop over with it to the Steppers.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Good to see you satz123  Music at midnight is madness! I don’t know if I would have even made it through the long dinner. I’m glad it was a good event, though. I bet you looked smashing.

Well, talking to yourself is ok paulywogg. Just make sure you’re saying good stuff .

15 kg in 2 months is pretty amazing, byebyebridgetjones. I hope she was feeling great all around. I hope you’re pleased with shedding 5 kg also. Getting rid of foods and beverages that control us or weigh us down feels so good.

I’m not going to totally refrain from those buttons, IamMary. For one thing, sometimes they are the perfect way to communicate, like thanking JackieClaire for faithfully starting the ShoutOut thread each week. And while I would prefer that we write directly to one another, like we did more before the buttons were introduced, that isn’t always realistic. I’m sure I would end up with hurt feelings if it seemed like no one cared about anything I wrote and I certainly don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings by not acknowledging something important they’ve said. I’m just going to try to have actual conversations more often, to the extent that is possible in an online forum.

Ooooohhhhh, yes I've done a lot of that back in the day.

This forum is a lot quieter these days, but I have to say - it's also a lot more peaceful. The main reason I left was because of all the argy bargy that was going on at one point. There were a couple of people who were obviously still drinking and getting quite nasty when they were. I see they are all long gone. I'm certainly glad to be back so I'll just press on, even if it does mean posting to myself.

No Sugar, amazing what losing only a small amount of weight can accomplish. If I lose all that I have to, I can see a time where I don't need any medication any more. I think the young girl I met was following a programme called 'Sweet Poison'. She's also had some horrendous side effects from a birth control implant. She put on 40 kilos in a couple of months!!!!

Hola friends. A bloke at work lost 15 kilos in about 6-8 weeks too. Just by cutting out sugar he reckons.

Morning Alkies -
Agree on all the points re posting.
Sometimes if I laugh out loud or love a post I want to reply like we used by using the quote option.
Then I get lazy, the moment passes & I just 'like' the post.
It's not enough when someone has made really good points or entertained me so much I laugh like a hyena.

I'll tell yous something I DO hate - is the Shout Out thread where people just automatically 'like' EVERY SINGLE POST . I know maybe folks want to acknowledge every post as a triumph but - like your kids - just pick your favourite to praise. It means more - and we are grown-ups and won't be offended.
(sorry but I've been wanting to say that for a long time)

Now I'm off to work for 10 hours :llama:

Morning......
The thing about the Shout Out thread............I remember when TRGL used to do it diligently every week and my first shaky handed 12 day AF. Its not just for big numbers it actually gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling when I see someone post in those early days. There were definitely weeks back then that I would just be hanging on by my fingernails just to be able to post another seven days.

Going into town to buy a toaster that takes a whole slice of bread.

Bacinabit.
