My 2 cents worth, nahhh, it’s not even worth that, but who cares how people post and what add-ons they use? Isn’t it the content that really matters?

Some people use smilies, I don’t…so? Some people use “quotes”, I don’t…so? Some people use @, some don’t, I do, a lot...so? Some people use thanks/likes, some people don’t, I do, a lot…so? I’m not sure why the add-on use should bother anyone. I personally find the smilies annoying, other people love them, so I’m okay with that, each to his own. The whole point is that it’s the content of the post that we should be focussing on.

I’m going to use paulywogg ‘s posts as an example. Sorry for singling you out Pauly, but it’s in a good way! Pauly posts from her phone, no Capitals, no sentence breaks, no paragraphs, and she uses lots of smilies! When I first joined here, Pauly’s posts annoyed the hell out of me! Now I look forward to them because it’s what she posts, not how she posts, that really matters to me. Every thread she goes to, she contributes, and that’s a lot more than I can say for myself, so thank you Pauly!

Sure, not every thread deals with the issue of alcohol in every post, but day to day living matters as well. I’m not much one to talk about my daily life because frankly, my daily life is boring! I get up, I go to work, I come home, and I go to bed, not much to talk about lol. But, I’m here everyday, contributing where I think I can, and learning and supporting along with everyone else…and that's all that matters to me...

Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.

Well said Abcowboy, that really sums it up. We are all individuals with one thing in common and as I said in yesterday’s thread I for one really appreciate those of you further along in your recovery who stay and support.

Re: January 2019 Army Manoeuvres

Just did a quick run to the shops for dog food and the gritters are out. :egad:

abcowboy.......Pauly is a wee diamond. I remember when Satz used to post from her phone........how do they do that??? Are they magic? I pick up my phone and my fingers turn into big fat uncooked sausages.

rustop59......you did post that and its much appreciated.

Last episode of Luther, we've recorded it because of the dog food dash.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

:checkin:
Evening Army Alkies - or AA'ers ( see what i did there)

Yes I had no laptop at home so I posted on my phone for 6 months and in work when I could.
( Cowboy I used full stops, paragraphs - the lot - because the nuns beat it into us for 14 years to ALWAYS use correct grammar :haha
I remember often staying late in a deserted office to chat away and also to avoid taking the trip home past the wine shop & knowing I wouldn't make.
Then one day in July 2012 - I DID make it home without stopping .............. joy of joys !!!!
That was the start of stopping drinking for me.

Evening all,

Great post abcowboy. Likes or @'s, I do get a little lift when I log on.. That's probably a bit sad! Ah well, just as we all have personalities offline, we all have our ways online too, like it or lump it, Im glad we are all still here supporting each other.

I havnt heard the words 'argy bargy' in ages byebyebridgetjones, I must use it more often, before Brexit when they take everything back to Engerland

Ive been to a few of those weddings too Satz, sober and not so sober, equally painful. A couple of Black tie ones too, which is completely taking the mick.. The Peacock one is definitely up there JackieClaire.. And your future son is law sounds like a fine thing!

I had Nun's like that for teachers as well satz123! It wasn't till 4th Grade when the fingers and knuckles on my left hand weren't continually red and hurting lol.

Evening folks, note to self, must post a bit more often even when, as tonight, I have not a single thing to say.
Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

You used to play me the most lovely tunes when we used to midnight lurk.

And, quite frankly, that is all of us.
There is not much drama any more because we don't encourage it.
The truth of the matter is, life is routine. Especially as we get older. The best thing now is finding meaning in the small things: time to oneself, a good book, a good friend, a lovely garden, a meaningful experience.
Anyhoo, I'm of to read my book. Goodnight loves....

Rubbish Tabberooney - you have lots to say ..... you are living life as the rest of us are. If you are struggling all the more reason to bring it on here or start your own thread again ....
I'd love your insights as YS is still in the depths of addiction to alcohol.
His life is almost at rock bottom. No job, no relationship, no prospects. At age 37.
His beloved Liverpool Football Team that he has supported all his life from age 2 were playing the other night.
He watched the first half - then presumably went upstairs for a swig - & conked out.
Sounds trivial but I NEVER thought I'd see the day he's miss a game.
