Re: January 2019 Army Manoeuvres
satz123..........its just too horrible to think about.
I reckon there's a grandchild on the horizon..........but one thing I will not do will be is an unpaid full-time childminder. There are two women just over the road that look after theirs and they do the school runs, tumble tots, bouncy castles and on and on. Start at 8am and finish when a parent picks them up. They're in their late 60s. FFS. They've done their time.It could be worse, I could be filing.

starty - as I said before be careful of who you job share with. That girl will not be happy in her job and that leads to absenteeism - especially with a new baby. :egad:
- and who will take the brunt of that ?
You Mrs. I've seen it loads of times.
Is there anyone else of the same demographic as yourself ? Would make it much easier on you.

byebyebridgetjones.......I have my famed granny boots. Worth their weight in gold.
The Geordie Temperature Scale (Celsius):
10 degrees - Southerners turn on the heating - Geordies plant gardens.
4 degrees - Southerners shiver uncontrollably - Geordies sunbathe.
1 degrees - Southern cars will not start - Geordies drive with the windows down.
-6 degrees - Southerners wear coats, gloves and wool hats - Geordies throw on a T-shirt (girls start wearing mini-skirts instead of bikinis).
-10 degrees - Southern landlords turn up the heating - Geordies have the last BBQ before it gets cold.
-17 degrees - Southerners begin to evacuate - Geordies go swimming in the North Sea.
-25 - Southerners cease to exist - Geordies throw on a lightweight jacket.
-60 degrees - Polar bears wonder if it's worth it - Geordie boy scouts start wearing long trousers.
-75 degrees - Santa Claus abandons the North Pole - Geordies put on their long johns.
-113 degrees - alcohol freezes - Geordies get frustrated because the pubs are shut.
-182 degrees - Microbial life starts to disappear - The cows on Newcastle Town Moor complain of farmers with cold hands
-273 degrees - All atomic motion stops - Geordies start to stamp their feet and blow on their hands. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: January 2019 Army Manoeuvres
My folks help out on their terms. They do one afternoon a week for 2 of us, 2-3 hours (the others are too far away). No babies or small kinds so that helps. They say its their time with the kids and they'll tell us when its too much - so that works for everyone.
I know one lady who does 5 days a week for her grandparents, she wouldnt have it any other way.. I suppose everyones different.
Yep, I was part time for 6 years starty, then they said I had to come back full time. I always knew it was not permanent. On the plus side, Ive only a 12 minute commute and its less to the schools, so Id be slow to rock that boat.. Plus the interview process now scares the shit out of me (listening to colleagues who have moved on). I know it depends on the role, but theres no avoiding some of it. E.g. Giving a presentation on yourself to an audience of 5... shiver shiver.
satz123 what about DD, is she still madly inlove??Last edited by IamMary; January 20, 2019, 06:27 AM.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Yep lurchers can be couch potatoes....or they can be a bit mental. Mine is a cross between the two. I have a Golden Retriever also who has 2 sides. All makes for wonderful entertainment and the desire to spend more time with these amazing creatures.
Mat girl is coming back on the proviso that her MIL does the looking after. She is even giving up her job to do so. I dont think I would have it in me to do that. When my niece was little it put the fear of god in me if I was asked to babysit.
Mary your job sounds a bit like mine inasmuch as it is very close by. Would you have gone back full time if they had not made you?
Went for a gorgeous 10k hike this morning at 7.30. Temp was -3. It was the most gorgeous morning and I got there just before the sun came up. Lovely. No southern softy here jax :haha:

But Like you - if I had a part time job with a 1 hour commute, I would nearly be away for the same length of time.Last edited by IamMary; January 20, 2019, 11:14 AM.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Re: January 2019 Army Manoeuvres
starty.......I've got a friend who adopted a greyhound. She'd just moved to the coast and was expecting long leisurely walks along the beach. However, the dog used to do 10 minutes and decide it was time for home. Turned out greyhounds are used to a 5 minute sprint and then need a lie down for 24 hours.
Got my COPD check in the morning them get back for my first Talking Therapies phone call. I can feel my anxiety seeping out of my ears. If Mr. JC says one more time 'you'll be fine' I'll beat him round the head with the frying pan.
Perhaps a bit of George Clark and his amazing spaces will calm me although a rub down with a wet flannel from Tom Hardy seems a good alternative. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: January 2019 Army Manoeuvres
Morning yerz all. Jaysus Ms Jax. I like the cold but .......
I'm afraid I can't stop eating at present. Must be anxiety.
JC let us know how you get on with it all.
Right you are Satz re the match with the job share. There has to be a time after which we've done our bit and peeps have to respect that. I'm afraid that people will use and abuse us to the exact extent that we allow it though. Off to snooze. If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Re: January 2019 Army Manoeuvres
byebyebridgetjones.........sleep well.
Try a glass of water before eating, could be dehydration.
The practice nurse's appointment went well. I like nurses. I think junior doctors should have a stint at nursing before they become important (or think they are)
My breathing's much better, blood pressure a bit on the high side but nothing worrying. Back again next year........of course with my thinking I'm so far ahead that I go expecting a lung transplant done immediately in the waiting room.
Now to fill in online form pre the telephone talk with the counselor which is pre to meeting her face to face.It could be worse, I could be filing.

IamMary - are hen's teeth rare?! Not heard that phrase before.
JackieClaire, glad the nurse's appointment re the COPD went well and the breathing's much better How did the Talking therapy phone call go? Yer blood pressure may have been a bitty high cos you were anxious about talking therapies? Dunno - am no doc.
Good weekend with the folks and me aunt celebrating her 70th. Spring chickens them all. Not how I mind 'old people' when I was a kid.
Off to prep and procrastinate, waves to you all, back laters -

Re: January 2019 Army Manoeuvres
It went well.......she's signed me up for group Mindfulness. Worth a try and we'll go from there.
RunningCourage..... I thought as rare as hen's teeth was a Scottish phrase.
Surprised with the anxiety on both appointments today my blood pressure wasn't coming out my ears. All done and dusted and onwards to new stuff
Lovely Silent Witness......body parts all over the place. Nice and gory.It could be worse, I could be filing.
