Re: March 2019 Army Thread

Morning .... starty - Rosie is 6 months on 9th :egad:
Where do I get the inflatable collar ?

All well here :
YS sober a week & going to meetings
Mother very happy & stabilized . This was someone they told us wouldn't survive Christmas. She's now out & about for lunch like she used to. All it took was TLC & medical care 24/7 really and that could only happen in the Care Home situation.

Morning, I love my own bed. Loved it so much that I didn't get up 'til 10am and just been pootling about.
The kitchen's taking some getting used to........like the oven's on the other side of the room.....so I spend a couple of minutes in front of a set of drawers wondering where its gone. And last night around midnight the dishwasher door popped open. Immediately thought its broken but rummaging through the instruction booklet its what it does when its finished.........some kind of energy saving thing. Didn't half give me fright.

MinStar......sounds like a good weekend for you.

IamMary..we've just had the torrential rain.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Where has the time gone????
Good to hear about YS. I do have a wee read most nights of the Big Book. I've got it on my kindle. I find it soothing. Living Sobers a good one as well. There's plenty of atheists in it.
And your Mum, amazing what good and proper care can do.

Evening all. Just in from work so need to get food. Glad you are enjoying your new kitchen JC. Take each day as it comes Satz and enjoy the good ones, that’s all any of us can do. With families there are always ups and downs.

Evening Army brats ...... starty forgot to say happy semi-retirement. You'll thrive on the extra time to yourself & dogger - and maybe hubby :haha: JackieClaire - delighted for you and the kitchmahal - enjoy it . It's a big change and stressy I know getting used to it & waiting for something to go wrong. But any hitches will show up in the first week or two !

Also forgot to tell yiz we have ghosts in work.
It's an old house and apparently there are 2 ghosts - a little boy & girl who died there yonks ago. They are on the second floor in the oldest part and skip around the corridors at night.
All sorts of stories of goings on over the years.
One of the carers nonchalantly told me this over a cup of tea the other day. Jesus >>>>>> :egad:

Late check-in. Bet I cross-post with Mers.
Had to fill in a questionnaire about my hearing loss...took age as Mr JC was asking me the questions so I was doing a lot of 'what was that you said?' 'pardon' 'speak up a bit' 'say again'......half in jest just to get him riled. Tee hee.

satz123.........:ghost::ghost:...........who ya gonna call........Ghost Busters.

Got the kitchen fitter coming to fix the cupboard tomorrow and a man that can to measure for blinds Wednesday........neighbours are going to be curtain twitching at hurricaine levels.

Evening, weekend sounds lovely MinStar, hope this week is going well for you too.

So have there been any sightings satz123?? Do you ever go up to that area? Whats up there? im not much of a believer in the supernatural, but I probably wouldnt go up there on my own in the middle of the night anyway!
Glad to hear that about YS & your mam.

JackieClaire, do you love your kitchen?

Nothing to report. Monday. Sober.

Morning, just 10 minutes before I go and get fitted with my ear-trumpets.

Years ago a few of us gormless 15-year-olds played with an ouija board.......scared the crap out of us. Could have been one of the others just messing about, but we never, ever did it again. Slept with the light on for weeks.

Its a love/hate with the kitmahal at the moment. Its going to get some used to.

Ooh its pancake day today. Now there's a challenge for me and the hob

Evening everyone, hope you are all stuffed to the gills with pancakes. How did you manage in your new kitchen JC and how do you like your ear trumpets? We had pancakes at work today so I don’t have to bother this evening.

I keep an open mind with the supernatural, remember lots of stories from childhood, lights, banshee etc. Rosie will bounce back Satz, ours were fine within days. Working week over, yellow weather alert so might not be walking. Need to start on hubbys clothes.

Still haven't had a pancake Going to have a couple for supper. Cheated and bought them at M&S.

Just spent an hour on the phone trying to calm the bride to be down about trying to please everyone coming to the wedding. More or less told her there are five people that are important.........the bride & groom, the registrar, the witnesses and feck the rest of us.

I've got my hearing aids........the lad that did the additional tests and the fitting was amazing. They are so discreet, you'd never really know unless you were looking.

Kitchen fitter took all of 10 minutes to put the cupboard right and just spent an hour looking at blinds. My brain is fried. Got the man coming in the morning.

How are the hearing aids working out JackieClaire?

We had a batter bake off, with shapes and faces and lots of chocolate. Full as an egg.

Good news about YS! Hope this is his time. Not seen the doco about DJ so will look out for it.

Good news about the ear trumpets Jax. Are you happier with them now and do they make a big difference to your life? Weddings are so stressful, I would not like to go through that again and mine was very simple really.

Well its my Friday today and then 4 lovely days off. I am sure it gets more mental there every day. There is a lady there who is about 63. Honestly the poor thing comes out looking like she has been put through a mangle at the end of the day. I am sure there should be an age restriction on the company :haha:

We are off to a gig on Friday to see Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel. Seen them a few times and they are really good. Seems like the whole family are going to this one including the outlaws and some people from my dim and distant teenage years. Should be fun

Good morning everyone. Awake early but had a great sleep. Delighted you got kitchen and ears sorted JC. Wow Starty, start of a new era, enjoy your days off and the gig. Horrible night here but I am daring to hope it has stopped and that I will get a walk in.

Good advice on the wedding JC, I dread when and if that day arrives in this house. Hopefully it is a while away, just got them both off the bank of Dad. Now need to see what I can spend it on instead.

Morning,
I don't get my ear trumpets until next week. Its all done by computer so they've got to download a chip for each one..........So if and when they need to be altered I keep the ones I'm wearing and they just adjust the chip.......pure genious. Had this awful feeling that they'd need replacing every two years and tbh we just don't have the funds for that. We're putting these beggars on the house insurance in case I lose them.

starty..........I loved Cockney Rebel.........couple of albums still in the loft.
Honestly, I find this retirement age thing ridiculous. Most of us have paid our fair dues in contributions but I'll be 70 when Mr JC retires. Fine make both sexes retire at 65......equality and all that. Let the workers live long enough to have at least a few years to enjoy their retirement.

Best news of the week. Ma-in-law did have what the GP thought was a cancerous growth on her leg checked out and its a form of eczema which just needs some cream.
