Re: March 2019 Army Thread

Morning All,
RC, I somehow thought that job was permanent? Is it contract only? Congratulations on the theatrical masterpiece though.
Must be a completely different workplace Satz. Amazing how one Ahole can wreck an entire system. Management should have been standing up to her though. That's what they are paid to do. Lead.

I'm very impressed, JC. You were going to wait until Spring to carry on with the improvements. Now you get to enjoy Spring in a completed house and get into the outdoors for the nice weather. Good plan. I bet it looks amazing and feels lovely and fresh.

Starty, just the words "Ramble in the woods" and "sketch class" make me stare into the middle distance. I have started kicking tyres at work about the part time thing. Truth is, I don't think I want to stay there at all but I'll point at the legislation and see what they come up with.
Rainy one here, so I have installed myself and the dog on the lounge and will conduct business form here today. Hope for a clear Sunday to hit the garden.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Morning folks, lovely morning here, is 7am too early to start the lawn mower?

I think it tastes like shit. I used to put something sweet in so I could get it down. So it must be your neural pathways/reward centre that want it. Certainly wasn't my taste buds. I could only stomach Vodka and sparkling rose in the end. With blackcurrent cordial. Jesus.

I remember Jason Vale writing exactly the same thing in his book. Gack.
Sometimes I do, sometimes I really don’t, that’s when it gets poured fast down my neck, guck indeed.

Seriously though I do need to get back out in the garden this morning, it’s good for the body and food for the soul. Plus there are so many important jobs need doing this time of the year. Although the one that didn’t need doing was my digging out an area about 10x5, putting down pond lining and then attacking it with a garden fork. Next was filling said hole back in again, probably moved a couple of tons of earth.
Now answers on the back of a postcard please: what in dogs name was I doing that for???

Hi all,

Jax I have a painting of a cow that looks like a bear that I did last year. I call this masterpiece "The Bearcow" :haha: The guy who runs the workshop said it is good for folk who do not know one end of a pencil from another. That;ll be me then.

Bridgey, I do hope they can and will offer you something and like you say, legislation if the same as here says they have to consider it. Make sure you have a case ready for them backing up your reasons why it should work. I gave them 2 viable options. They found a third which was agreable to all which was probably even better than the 2 I had.

Rustop enjoy your hike and Tabs enjoy your garden. I am not a gardener at all and our garden looks like a paddock with a shed in it ie no plants. We have a few holes the dogs have dug for points of interest though

Do you think a body suit would help a boy dog when he gets neutered? Time Buddy got done. Spring is defo (well today anyway) in the air and the lambs are multiplying.
Oh yes Jackser - boys they like to lick their nether regions and will weaken the stitches. Deffo a good buy and take a few days off to 'mind' him. Don't want an infection....:egad:

Morning,
The first job of the day out of the way.......watched the final of Masterchef.
Next, we're ordering the shed, then Aldi........living the dream here.
byebyebridgetjones..........reckon it'll be June. So rather glad we ploughed through or we'd still have bare walls at Christmas.
starty.........I love the Bearcow........think of it as original and primal artwork.
satz123.....I shall defo tell Jenny. They were asked by Buddy's breeder if they could use him to sire a litter but he's got a wonky tail...........apparently not a good look for a beagle and could be genetic.
Tabbers (a.k.a. KTAB).........my postcard answer.......your boyhood love of playing in the mud
rustop59...........enjoy your hike.

God I'd love that. I remember Art in school - I LOVED it - but my still life were very still :haha: Just flat on the the page - just could not get the shading right for the bowl of fruit & bottle to look realistic.
Funny when I remember - there was a wine bottle in there with the fruit bowl ...... I was 13 - how did I know what a wine bottle looked like ??
I was better at Crafts ....

Evening,
More bag packing today :egad:, for the athletics club. But what was notable was the amount of stress many women were under trying to feed or visit both sides, then look like they're having a relaxing day for their own kids! I get it.. Ive devised a complicated schedule to fit everyone in (including a race for me, cos Im a very selfish mother )

Im curious, in the Uk and Australia, an employer MUST consider part-time as an option? I definitely dont think we have options like that here. Certainly not in the private sector, so its not legislated. satz123, isnt this your area of expertise??

Better hit the hay, they are steeling an hour of sleep.....

byebyebridgetjones - what do you want to do when you grow up??? have similar conversations with MrM here, not happy in current environment and wants a complete change. BIG move. starty: Also loved Art, would lose myself in it for hours. Cant really draw though! Tabbers (a.k.a. Good morning everyone. Apple must have changed the time for me, usually awake way before this. Never heard of that legislation here, interesting. In my last job the job share only applied if your role was suitable for it. Mine wasn’t so I had to wait for somebody else to apply and then I could go for that but not necessarily get it as other people might be interested too. Ended up taking the career break instead. Happy now with my two day week. You are right to be selfish Mary, we mothers spread ourselves too thin. Happy Mother’s Day everyone.

No Mers not aware of legislation that they have to consider P/T requests.
Maybe after a baby & all that legal shenanigans of fragmented parental leave (a day a week off) etc. but for those of us past that I don't think so.

ps
I've never understood the attachment to dogs - till now.
My Rosie is the light of our lives - asleep here beside me.
Mr S said yesterday - who didn't want a dog at all - "what did we do before Rosie" ?

She's more loyal than me. She sleeps on the spare bed with him when he's in there sometimes (has to be done 'cos of the twitching he does with his dodgy knee) :haha: and I have work next day

Morning,
Bit of a read for you and a bit of background.
I've known this young man, Joe, for a very long time. He was actually Jenny's BF for a short while when they were about 16 and she's still very close to his sister.
More adults seeking support for alcoholic parents - BBC News
I remember about three years ago he announced on FB that he had three years sober and the stream of his so-called mates trying to get him to have a few pints. I don't normally 'expose' for want of a better word myself on FB as an alkie but I got angry with them so banged out a post about my not drinking and how very proud I was of him and to take no heed of the ignoramusses.
To me he's a star.

To all the lovely ladies in the UK!
Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Just get through today. Tomorrow will look after itself when it becomes today, because today is all we have to think about.
Friendship is not about how many friends you have or who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you", and proved it.
