Re: One Step at a Time - March 2019
Bird - that was a really good vid. That was the way it was for me alright.
Sorry about the cravings yesterday. I hope that today was a better day. I know it's rough going to places where you buy your beer. I had a hard time for awhile.
I've been looking around here for some Smart or WFS meetings. Nothing local. Everything is from half an hour to an hour away and the closer ones are not in a great area to be in at night.
Liz - did you get all of your Mom's stuff taken care of? I hope that she didn't end up owing a lot of money. We have finished with our issues for now, thank goodness.
Rusty - how is your back today? Is it still showing improvement? I hope so.
Glassie - how was babysitting today? Well, yesterday to you. I'm finally going to see my princess tomorrow. We haven't seen them in almost 3 weeks. That is too long.

Re: One Step at a Time - March 2019
Hi all,
Nora, there are no meetings close to me either. Thats why I go to the online ones. When I was in chat meet yest some of them were talking about caregiving for their parents and I thought of you. Glad you are going to see Savannah tomorrow! 3 weeks is a long time.....so I finished my taxes today!!! So glad for that.....dd2 had an appt. at Firestone this morn to have them look at her serpentine belt. They told her it was her compressor causing it to squeak and said it would cost about $1700, and recommended her to a place that works on A/C...so I met her at the A/C place, the guy said her car was ok. He called the Firestone place and says he is her big brother and why did they say her A/C needed replacing? I could hear the guy saying he didn't say that, but she had a paper they made for her with the parts cost, labor etc...the guy says well I have the paper right here and I am A/C certified!!Her A/C runs perfect! haha it was so cool..glad we went there.....so how was everyones day? The time change sucks huh??

Good Early Morning, Friends!
bird-way to go on fighting those cravings and so glad to hear the A/C is fine! Mechanics are notorious for taking advantage of women and treating them like they are done so great job! Loved the video-thanks for posting. MIT...nice....my uncle and cousin graduated from there and I dated a guy who went to school there...oh to be that smart!
Nora-my back IS better..thanks! I am going to continue with the ACU treatments. So glad you will be able to see Savannah...it's been 3 weeks already? It must seem like years to you. Aren't C and J trying for another baby now?
Big hellos to Glass Half Empty, Lizann, paulywogg, techie, NoSugar, and anyone I missed, Happy AF Tuesday!

Re: One Step at a Time - March 2019
How was everyone's Tuesday? bird, I'd have been flipping out about the car situation. I'm glad you didn't fall for that and that the other mechanic called him out! Everybody want our money! Good job on fighting those cravings! Yup, that's a trigger. Have I ever mentioned that I live directly across the street from a liquor store? Huge one! Woe is me. . .
Nora, glad you get to see the baby. It's amazing how much they change so quickly. It's hard to get time in, I'm sure, with everyone's schedules!
Rusty, so glad your back is better!
NO moms taxes are not straightened out. The $10,000 dollars has been whittled down to about $900. The banks are at fault and made mistakes "rolling over" her IRA's. These IRA specialist at the bank are amazingly ignorant of codes and process. It's really maddening. Hubby is at the helm and is muddling through it. Mom is overwhelmed.
Dan injured his shoulder/arm pretty badly on Sunday night. He plays hockey on a recreational team. First quarter and he hit the wall hard! His brother plays on the same team and he took Dan to the ER. Three hours later they told him he has a sprained shoulder and to follow up with an orthopedist in a few days, swelling goes down a bit. He was home yesterday he couldn't drive. He can't pick up the baby at all and Erin had to help him get dressed this morning. He is feeling better tonight, but always something. Hoping he didn't tear something.
Sunday would've been dads 90th birthday. TAlked to mom about it today and there were lots of tears.
Glassie, I remembered the expression Mark used with his coworkers in England. He was talking about his old boss and how she was very organized, he said "She runs like a well oiled machine". His coworkers were hysterical laughing! He didn't get why., lol.
Hope you guys enjoyed your Tuesday.

Sorry to hear about Dan Lizann, but reading about it did give me a chuckle. There are 4 - 15 minute quarters in football, and 3 - 20 minute periods in hockey, and we don't call them walls, we call them boards. Easy to tell what sport you watch lol.Last edited by abcowboy; March 13, 2019, 07:21 AM.Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. Re: One Step at a Time - March 2019
Hi all,
Absolutely nothing going on here. Still dealing with the cravings, think I am going insane. It has been very warm here. All the bugs are out. I'm thinking the hummingbirds should be coming soon. There are some feeders the previous owner left...Liz, I could not live across from a liquor store. To bad about Dan's shoulder, ouch! Glad you are there for your mom...Rusty, hope your back is still good...Nora, what have you been up to....hello a.c....

bird, hang in there. These cravings are lasting a bit, aren't they. Can you find something else to treat yourself? I bought a huge bag of jelly beans!
Hubby booked his reservations for The Keys. I am feeling anxious about the days that he will be gone. I need to make sure I take care of myself that week too.
Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday.

Re: One Step at a Time - March 2019
Hey everyone. Sorry that I haven't been posting much. Just have really been flat lately. Just too much trouble to do anything kind of feeling. Anyway, I have a Dr's appointment later this month and will talk to her about a plan for reducing the medication I started taking for my fibromyalgia. And then I'll be chatty Cathy again.
And since I'm complaining, I talked to my brother and there are more issues with the paperwork which he faxed over today. But, he got a call that they also need my signature. I think the deadline is Friday. I don't know what happens if we don't get this taken care of.
And then I got home and had a letter from the State. Just a random review to avoid tax identity theft and they want to see my records. I had filed online. Anyway, no biggie but I had to laugh that I was selected.
Bird - I am sorry that the cravings are so bad. But, great job on fighting them. I really mean that because I understand how you feel about going insane.
Liz - sorry that your Mom's money issues haven't been sorted out yet. These financial insitutions make it so difficult. I hope that Dan is ok. Hugs to you about your Dad's birthday. That is hard......it just hurts in your heart so bad.
abcowboy - you made me laugh. I never would have known that Liz got it wrong. So funny. Great to see you as always. How are you doing?
paulywogg - you are missed. I haven't been reading around so I don't know how you are doing but I hope you are doing great!"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Wow NoraC, Savannah is growing like a weed! Such a cutie!
I'm kinda like you Nora, a bit flat. But I put in on the long, cold winter we just went through, the slow arriving spring, and the time change. You know what, it's okay to be flat every once in a while, makes me appreciate what I gave up when I quit drinking; always trying to keep things in a constant turmoil so I'd have an excuse to drink. Just remember, these phases come and go, so don't get down on yourself and take things as they come.
A tip of the hat to the rest of you ladies!Quitting and staying quit isn't easy, its learning a whole new way of thinking. It's accepting a new way of life, and not just accepting it, embracing it...
