Doing the midnight lurk and a bit of shouting.
Its just since he dislocated it. He was no bother when it was replaced, but there district nurses popping in.
Actually, wondering if he feels abandoned. Now there's a thought.
Big hugs going out to Bridgeeeeeeee.
And show yer face Arsey.

Re: May 2019 Army Thread 2019

I thought I heard JackieClaire whispering something about me and thought I better get over here and check! Turns out No Snoring is the topic of the day - that might be even more important than No Sugar!! I’m not a good sleeper after 2 or 3 hours so if anyone snores, I can’t sleep at all. Luckily a gentle shove usually stops it for my husband. I hope Mr JC gets back to being himself. Maybe this event scared him and shook his confidence more than he’s admitting.

I hope the missing army members are ok. I always hope people are off leading busy and happy sober lives but it’s hard not to worry. I also hope the crisis has passed, byebyebridgetjones, and your life can settle back to normal .

Good morning everyone and thanks for popping in No Sugar. We are a small troop these days. Think No Sugar has a point there JC.Glad you enjoyed the communion Mary. Speaking of sleep I had 10 hours last night. Unheard of but I must have needed it. Had a few broken nights during week so the body was catching up. Thrown my plans but I can make new ones. Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Morning,
Just got out of the loft to get the suitcases out........quite an achievement for me as I have a real dread/ near phobia of step-ladders. I'm quite proud of myself.
You're right.....its knocked Mr. JC sideways. He's glad to be at work as he's in control (well most of the time). It doesn't help me harping on at him about moving and walking at home. I will be kinder.

This few days away from re-furbing, work, stress and predicted half decent weather is a godsend.

NoSugar.........lovely as always to see you. I was a horrible sleeper as a young 'un. Add years of alcohol abuse its no wonder I'm all over the place.

IamMary......I'm always amazed at how little some people drink. Its getting more common IMHO.

rustop59....'you must have needed it'.........just what my Granny used to say.

Waves to the waifs and strays.

Re: May 2019 Army Thread 2019

Signed up for some of Annie Grace’s stuff. Got this email this morning and it struck a chord.

Do you remember being assigned a summer reading list back in school? If you were like most kids - summer reading meant “the week before school starts” reading. I mean, what was the point of reading over the summer anyway? The whole point of summer vacation was just that - a VACATION - no learning!

Of course I now see that the idea behind summer reading is to avoid the summer slump. Summer is when reading levels tend to fall back after some time off. We’ve all experienced this phenomenon. From reading and math to knitting and golf - if you don’t use it - you lose it.

Yet for some reason, we think that once enough time has passed not drinking - we no longer need to work on it. The truth is that your subconscious will revert to the 'alcohol is good' mindset if you stop telling it otherwise. All of the questions I receive and the need for more answers are what keeps me learning and keeps my subconscious aware that alcohol is bad. This forces me to search out the research, the knowledge and the people that reinforce what got me alcohol free in the first place.

How can you avoid a summer slump yourself? Start with continuing to read, listen to the podcast, and stay active in the Facebook groups. Remember that our culture will continue to send us messages that alcohol is good and we need to seek out the sources that go against the grain and give us the truth instead.

Summer reading can be fun,

great post Rustop! and so very true. It is so easy to become complacent as I have found to my cost over and over again. I ordered a book yesterday called Alcohol Explained by WIlliam Porter. It is a great book about the affects on us both psychologically and physiologically. Each element is explored such as dehydration, sleep and so on. I am finding it very interesting to reinforce my thought patterns about this poison that we use so freely.

In other news I took my doggers out for a 14km hike which was absolutely gorgeous today with the sun and the greenery after the rain. I hope everyone had a lovely weekend

It’s great you can still do those hikes when you need a new hip, @starty. My dad had that surgery in his early 80s and was back to taking long walks without pain very quickly and continues to do well five or six years later. Thanks for the book recommendation!
rustop59, that is exactly why I kind of worry about people who leave MWO. Unless they have found a different source of reminders and support, it would be so easy to forget, especially when most messages we hear about alcohol are very positive.

That is great to hear about your dad NS. I am very nervous! Yes, I do walk miles and it will be lovely to do it without pain once my new hip is in. I am sure the walking will stand me in good stead for the op.

It absolutely will starty. You must be so fit now, you'll recover so well.
Great post Rustop! At the very least, we need to check in here as much as we can and keep the conversation going, too easy to drift with the 'positive messages' as NS says.
JackieClaire, Hope Mr JC gets his mojo back, the break will do you both wonders..

Very late check-in.
Watched the Bafta's then Match of the Day. I'm square-eyed.
Mr JC mowed the lawn......think it made him feel back to normal and the sun shone (shined ???) :happy2: You know, he very much appreciates all your good wishes.

NoSugar...crikey 80 years old. That's amazing. Heard the other day someone had it done with an epidural.

I'm taking my kindle so will check in every day.........more than once and prolly a good lurk.

Just got to find my haggis hunting kit and we're ready to go tomorrow

That is what I am hoping Mary!

Have a fab break JC, the weather looks like it will be kind

In work today, 2 people handed in their resignations last week so likely there will be fun and games! It is a tough place to work and I am so very happy that I have cut my hours down.

Morning,
Luckily don't have to leave 'til oneish o'clock.
Saw this on FB:
Me getting dressed: Puts on the same leggings for the 8th day in a row.
Me going on vacation: I don't have room for this third ballgown...........I'll have to check another bag in.

starty....you've got flying start with this hippy shake-up. Don't drink, don't smoke and you exercise can only be a win, win situation.
How's Mr. S's eyes. Its got me fascinated.
Jeez two in a week. Hope the powers that are in charge are having a good hard look at what's going on.

Wonder if I can squeeze the kitchen sink in beside the haggis hunting kit and bagpipes.

Bon voyage JC. You are probably there by now, hope you have a wonderful time. I guess we and our significant others are of an age, bits are breaking down. Just have to get them repaired and off we go again. As I tell my girls I am only 25 in my head.

Today was a work day so not long home. Going to get something to eat and have a read back.
