Great to hear your up and about already starty! You wont know yourself in a few weeks.

Your poor MIL JackieClaire not pleasant.

14% always red. I wouldnt entirely blame Bridge country, south africia had loads.
13% was ok if it was white.
12% wouldnt get a look in.

Full of sophistication, knowing our wines..

Vodka will take care of that. Not that it's a competition. Oh hang on, yes it is...
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

And the never ending myth that vodka doesn't smell on your breath...........oh yes it does.
Ooh a competition......what have you opened a bottle of wine with when the corkscrew has disappeared?
I've used a knitting needle and my house keys .........more than once...........:blushing:

Still no visit with Ma-in-law. She's had a scan today. According to Pa-in-law she's being well looked after and very relaxed............but the edict still stands.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Evening everyone. Hope she improves JC. How is our other patient, Starty?

Always drank at home and plenty of corkscrews so have no stories involving knitting needles, crochet hooks etc. Crazy day so feet up watching Love Island with daughter.

Corked wine, that never altered the alcohol content, just pour!

I only started on the secret cups of tea (gin/vodka) over the last year before I quit. The problem there was that the measures seemed too tiny, dont get me started on pub measures

More booze talk in work today. Sometimes I feel like Im not part of the gang.. then that passes. I suppose lots of eyes glaze over when a few of us talk about running (yea ok, way more boring) or the new parents talk about babies.. cant be part of every gang!

At least they havnt come up with anything sinister JC, so could be just one of those things. Is she in any pain with it? Can you visit soon?

I've used handle of a spoon, a knife .. and basically just digging out the cork bit by bit not caring there were bits in the wine :blushing:
How very uncouth :haha:
God bless whoever invented screw tops & told the wine snobs to get a grip - it doesn't affect the wine.
( not that quality was high on my list of requirements)

I'm pretty sure it reeks at all stages of the journey through......I'll ask my friends, colleagues, people that I had casual conversations with, dentists, doctors, beauticians, anyone within 2 feet of me for years - and get back to you.

/QUOTE]

Thursday morning comp!! Yay!
Horrified to have a corkscrew snap off in the cork one time. Broke into a sweat and used every gadget in the kitchen - knives, ladle handles, a stick one time. Once the knife slipped and I just about took my stupid hand off. So I just wrapped it up and kept drinking. No wuckers. Another time I almost cried with relief when I remembered that my Swiss army knife had a corkscrew on it (Why? To save oneself in the wilderness with wine?)
Then there was the night the whole neck broke off the bottle so we sieved the booze through a tea towel and drank it anyway. Waste not, want not.

In my dim and distant past someone had put a cigarette out in a can of special brew ( disgusting strong lager that you envision a tramp on a park bench drinking) i removed the butt and drank it.

Jax was mr jc in horrible pain that woke him in the night?

I once had a corkscrew break off in the cork too and, in desperation, resorted to using my teeth to try to pull it out. I still have the damage to my lower teeth from that one!

Luckily caught him before he went off to work..........loosely quoting ........he remembers feeling uncomfortable, but he was on 2x30g of codeine every four hours.
He had sennakot for constipation (from the codeine) and an anti-inflammatory (he can't remember the name).
Now I have to say here, that Mr JC has a tendency to downplay his pain...... so uncomfortable to him would be pretty sore.

You've been jangled about the last couple of days. Can you work out when its worst and give your GP or surgeon's office a call.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

In retrospect, we should have thought to wear a grill for such occasions. I wonder if Kanye West still knows where to get them?

Its an in and out MWO day today.............waiting for the decorator for the kitchen. I had a frisson of excitement that end is nigh........
Slo.........there's a great chunk out of a door hinge in my first flat where I ended up putting a partly pulled cork, held the door nearly shut and pulled. Often wonder what the buyer thought had happened.
byebyebridgetjones..........now there's a thought why do they put a corkscrew on a Swiss army knife??? I've had Swiss wine and its dreadful...even for me who'd slurp anything down.

I was told codeine every 6 hours and i also have something called nefopam. Mr s has asked for another prescription for both as what they gave me would likely run out over the weekend if i took the maximum dose

Last night i wasnt well with vomiting and dizziness so hopefully today will be better. Thanks for asking for me

I'm off to bed now. Starty I hope you can get some rest. It's still very early days for you. Keep checking your wound for infection. I hope you feel much better in the coming days.
