starty - take all the fecking drugs you can get. Tell them on a scale 1-10 you are 9 1/2.
This day & age we don't have to put up with pain.

I'm all alternative & holistic remedies but when it comes to pain all bets are off - I want industrial strength pain management

Evening, starty, stupid question here as I know your in awful pain, and I agree with Satz, dont suffer - but what the deal with you taking codine? Can you take an alternative, or is it ok?
When are you getting out? Hope you get some sleep tonight X

Fag buts is bad, we might have a winner for the 'how low would you go' competition.
Towel sieving is low too, depends if it was a dirty tea towel or not :egad:

I have fished out zillions of fruit fries. no shame.

I'm with you. Lay it on me baby. As long as it's not going to turn into any nasty cross-addiction thing
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

We should start a thread. Remember 'You know you're an alcoholic when'? I have never laughed so much in my life.

I loved the “you know you’re an alcoholic when” thread Dear Vlad started it. It was resuscitated a while ago but there isn’t really enough people here to contribute now sadly

By all accounts the hospital have under medicated me somewhat. And also not given me enough to last me over the weekend if taking the max doses which is what i need. I am taking codeine which is not ideal but really there is no other choice that is not opiate based. They have also given me a non opiate painkiller to take as well but it just doesn’t last or even help as much. I am also taking paracetamol. The only thing i can really do is take as directed and stop when the pain eases. Last night was the first night I didn’t wake up crying in pain so that is brilliant . It has been much more painful than i ever thought it would be though

Re: July Army Thread 2019

Morning,
I've had the 'you know you're alcoholic' book-marked for years so thought I'd give it a bump.
starty..........when I had my gall bladder out I got oramorph but as its a full of morphine it can only be administered in the hospital. Have to say it did the trick within minutes. But like everything its very, very addictive. Have to say its rather yummy and its helps sleeping, so tbh I can see their dilemma.

I feel like I've been a right moaning Minnie lately so some good news.
Although Ma-in-law hasn't got the results of her scan she has how used the bathroom to its full extent (I'm so polite) She's walking well and was taken to the patient kitchen to see if she could make a cup of tea and a slice of toast. Which is usually the precursor for letting her home.
Pa-in-law has a gardener..which in its self is nothing short of a miracle.
The kitchen just has the flooring to go.
And tomorrow we go up to Kelso to get my hat and we're being taken out for lunch while up there by my brother & his missus (now that is a miracle). His pressie to Mr JC for his 60th.

Morning Jax delighted that mil situation seems a bit more positive. Must be a relief

I was on a morphine pump for 24 hours and i was still in agony a lot of the time. I really did not expect this much pain. Much worse than when I broke my leg and fractured my skull. Today i am still in bed. Did the stairs and then had to sleep for an hour. Mr s and the doggers are the best nurses in the world. There is alway one dogger on my bed and the are so careful to avoid my leg which is amazing considering how big the are. Mr s even gets up in the night to bring me ice packs

Glad all is looking up JC.
I found Morphia to be amazing the one time I had it, having administered it many times. I actually used my time on it to make some plans for world domination. I found the note in my toiletry bag when I got home from hospital, in my own hand writing.

It said - "buy three really good ones: One white, one pink and one blue. Three quarters"

I never did find out what the master plan was but boy it was going to change my life.

Not often I say this but that actually made me LOL.

starty.........bless your heart. The tiredness is prolly due to the anaesthetic but the pain needs a chat with your doctor/district nurse. I know I nearly beat a doctor to the floor over when my Dad's was in agony after bowel cancer surgery and the pain relief wasn't even touching the sides.
I remember Bess being ever so careful around Mr JC. Splendid animals are doggers.

Night all. Great news about mil JC. Can understand your reservations Stary re the drugs but you need to get through this. You are a strong lady and you will conquer it.

Absolutely exhausted from juggling work and everything else. Daughter home and more visitors due Tuesday. Just watched love island and think I will call it a night.

Morning All,
I think Ma in law must be made of some pretty tough stuff there JC. Bless her. I'm so glad the parents are responding to Mr JCs needs and their own. I'm very lucky with my own parents, they thought through their own aging process and needs and dealt with them while they still had the choices.

Starty maybe discuss with your specialist? When is your follow up appointment? Thing is, mobility is very important early on and you're going to find mobility very difficult with that level of pain. Is there the same level of pain during the day? You poor sausage.
rustop, you get a lot of visitors! Do you want them there? Or do you want me to send my door people around and we can replace yours as well as mine? I'm thinking steel core. Would that work with your decor? We might be able to get a bundle.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Morning and evening to Bridgeeeeeee.

rustop59..........did I thank you for starting my thread??? I don't think I did so a humungous thank you.
starty......this pain is stopping your mobility. Mr JC was a lot more 'active' by now. It suddenly struck me that by day 6 I had to leave him on his own. I'd gone arse over elbow tripping over the dog's lead and ended up spending the afternoon in A&E so I had to leave him aone. Luckily my arm was just horribly bruised and I had wear a sling for a week or so. We made quite a team.........him with one leg and me with one arm. Should have seen the rigmarole dicing carrots.
He also did the thing that Ma-in-law did.........when he was in the hospital he was taken to a mini kitchen to make sure he could make a cup of tea and a slice of toast, could walk up and down stairs, put his socks and pants on...lots of little essential things before they released him.

We're leaving the country to go up the road to Scotland (its only 50 miles) for 'the hat' and also sister-in-law is due back from the South of France and we're running away as she will kill us for not letting her know about Mum.
I must switch off our location finder on our phones.
It could be worse, I could be filing.
