Hardly any internet (bliss) from bonnie Scotland. Big waves and hugs.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Wave JackieClaire!

Hospital last night and again this am. Son somehow managed to slice off the top of his finger and obviously break the bone, on one of those outdoor exercise machines. Can not fault our hospitals on his occasion - although I believe amputations skip the queue :egad:
Plastic surgeon put it all back together again, after an interesting few hours of panic, blood and pain. Its his 'gesture' finger, so hes very proud of its current enormous wrapped up size

I got the call about 8.30, well after Wine O'Clock. How glad am I that I could hop into the car without a thought of not being able to drive or worse (but possible), leaving my wine behind!

Bridge - have you made a decision on the wedding yet??

Jesus the trauma Mers you must have been up the wall :egad:
Ah poor lad - but sounds like he's making the best of it - pity he couldn't miss school too

And another reason to clock up why we don't drink any more & is the best decision we've ever made. And just how wonderful we are to have done it with just the support of our friends on here.
I think we are just marvellous

We are just marvellous actually.

Big wave to JC up there in kilt country. Hope the winds aren't blowing all the lads frocks up too much.

God Satz, this lot will declare an event every time the wind changes. Yesterday it was somebody's 50th birthday and of course they were off like a bride's nightie again. The birthday girl looked as pissed off AF about it and when the fun brigade shouted for a speech she said 'you can bugger off I don't feel like it'. She will be my new friend. Stupid joiners. Exhausting, they are.

Good Lord Mary. The poor kid! Good story for him though. He can grow it over the years too. By the time he's 21 he'll convince everyone that the machine ripped his hand fair off.
Not going to the wedding, Mary. Going to call her on Sunday. She'll be trolleyed though so I'll follow up with a text. Going to potter for a week and do whatever I want to. Possibly nail the doors shut and put planks of timber over the windows. Possible guard dog. Possible security bloke.

Dog says it's time for bed so I better go or I'll be for it.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Good call Bridge, bet your relieved now, making your mind up is the hardest part.
Security is important for these solitary days, you should consider biometric access to the house, and of course, always wear sunglasses and a baseball cap, even when your in bed.

I agree Satz, we are bloody marvelous.
There is a big hump to climb over at the beginning, changing your mindset, managing the cravings... and it takes constant maintenance, but its so worth it.

Young fella hoping for a good scar but hes missing out on a bit scout trip. Ah well. Of course everyone has a finger amputation story now. If my stats are correct, 80% of us have had a finger or toe partially amputated . Im not telling him, he wont feel special anymore

Re: August Army Thread 2019

No he should definitely feel special about the partial amputation, Mary. Not all of us get a plastic surgeon for ours. He should know that.

Last night I had one of those periodical drinking dreams that we all have. I cracked under pressure from someone else and had one of those horrid milky drinks that you may as well put a straw in the bottle, like Bailey's etc. They don't even do the job and you put on about 10 kilos per bottle. Very upset with myself when I woke up. Those dreams can be so real! Definitely can not go to that wedding. Too risky at this stage and nothing is taking this one away from me!

Hope JC is having a lovely time on the lake with Bess and Mr JC. And I hope Black Bess behaved herself whilst dining in.

Is the wedding this weekend Bridge?
Have you next week off?
Sickly sweet baileys... Id drink it if I could manage to add a large whiskey into it :grey:
Which of course would be at the latter end of the night. I can almost feel the pain in my eyes from those hangovers.

Where has rustop59 gone off to?? And starty, have you gone back to work already?
I am up at silly o'clock, hardly worth going to bed now...

Night X

Struggling to focus this afternoon and ave several docs to pull together before quitting time. Much rather look and Hampton's Style decorator ideas ....... bit ashamed of how much I Google other things at work. They should never have given me two screens to work on....

Hello, hello, hello.
Got back about three hours ago. Let's just say the journey was pretty hairy because of the constant rain. :egad:
Here's where we were..........look at the loch-side cottages and we were three along from the main hotel.
Portsonachan Hotel

IamMary...........what a nightmare. I'd have a meltdown if it happened to my little soldier........but he'll be able to embellish his 'war wound' over the years.

byebyebridgetjones.............Bess was fine she just stayed for a couple of cocktails and a few canapes then reeled off clubbing with her new pals Winnie (the bulldog), Buddy (puppy Labrador), Fruin (dachsund/terrier cross) and Cooper (retreiver) 'til the wee small hours.

Just a quick one as I feel a bit sickly, think its the tension from the long drive and the thought of Baileys
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Me too (thats why they invented Alt +Tab). Work screen and pinterest screen :happy2:
I like your style.
I have a big kitchen plan but its a long way off because I want to put windows in where there are walls now as well as get all new appliances and units. i am starting to run out of duct tape, but I refuse to upgrade anything until Ive the cash for a major job. If I ever get it done, I will have NOTHING to obsess over!

Friday night, netflix and magnum, it doesnt get much better :happy2:

Morning,
IamMary.........there was a stall at a local craft fair toting for business so we thought we'd give it a go. It had got 'tired' to say the least over the years and the daughter of the owners took over and turned it around.
Their poached eggs are to die for. In fact, all the food is fabulous. We just have a packet of biscuits in the cottage.
We've just got the stairs and landing and a loft ladder to go. Decorator starts again 2nd September.
Funny you should say duct tape. I had piles of graph paper and sticky tabs for where everything would go. Mind you, when I designed the kitchen I completely forgot the hob.

Ahh, the happy couple. Last heard of in a cave bar in Dubrovnik. Think they're due back today.

Its Gardeners World, Monty Don & Nigel for me on a Friday night. :heartbeat:

Evening all. Today is Saturday right ?
Just getting fuzzy head - because no-one posted today :egad:
And the feckin' Sunday shout out is already up there....

Got a visit from young Satz today - and he has ensconced himself here for the weekend to eat all my food
He appears to be sober a while too ....

Now : what day is it again ?????

Edit : JC you posted this morning - thank feck for that.

Give me a second... the day zipped by and Im finally sitting down now.

Great to hear that about YS satz123.. I really hope this is it. Feed him anything he wants!!
Did you get an invite yet to DD's new place?

My current kitchen its all about the hob JackieClaire, now I fancy it sleek and contemporary and 30 grand to fall from the sky.. and why stop there, I really want 60 :haha:
How are things with your inlaws by the way, were they able to get more help?

Wondering where Rustop has got to :hmms:

Long run in the morning, marathon miles starting to add up now... later.

Jeez, I agree, today has flown by in both hemispheres. Full moon is over so it can't be that:egad:
I seem to have just run flat strap all weekend. Up until stupid O'clock last night painting tables, but I far prefer to spend Saturday night doing that than the alternative and woke up to beautiful fresh white painted side tables this morning.

Jeez I hope YS has seen the light.

I love the image of Bess playing with her new mates. Nephew has a new puppy that the dog had a play with this weekend. She always gets on with the new puppers.

Seriously considering a sickie tomorrow.......not just threatening now...
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Morning and evening to our Bridgeeeeeeeeeeee,
satz123............I remember when the S&H moved out. He'd come round, eat much food then wander back to his flatshare with 8 bags of groceries. Well, I couldn't let mummy's little soldier starve in that flat he lived in with four other smelly student boys.

IamMary...........my priority was workspace and work tops. In fact, I got obsessed. And double ovens.....I got one.......then realised after the event the only time that will be used is Christmas day. And a pan drawer.........its magnificent.
Ma & Pa in law are good. Ma-in-law still frail. Pa-in-law got stuck in at the wedding. 2 proseccos and a beer. Didn't stay for the meal as Ma-in-law was on her own at home. Had to laugh when the barman just gave him a bottle of lager..........he raised an aged eyebrow and said.......'in a glass, please. I'm not a teenager'
Gardener sorted, cleaner sorted and district nurse a couple of times a week. Not to intrusive.

byebyebridgetjones...........take two days. Then it looks serious. When you get back remember to clutch a hankie at all times, sigh a lot, rub lower back when standing, when going to sit wince while doing it gingerly. If anyone asks how you are..........repeat 'I'm fine, no really, fine. A glass of water would be good. Can you just reach the hankie I've just dropped'
Get the lounge thing. Dying to see what it looks like.
Bess is reminding more and more of Queen Victoria in her latter years.

Got Jenny upstairs, up here for a girls night out and there's no place like home to sleep it off.

I've got the photos downloaded so all we've got to do is fathom out how to e-mail or pm the buggers. Had success with messenger and whatsapp.

Yep, a shout out to Rusttop, Stirly, Starty and all the missing. And anyone who just wants a bit of a chat.
It could be worse, I could be filing.
