Re: August Army Thread 2019

Over the past few months, I've luckily managed to purloin a good few those little hotel soaps. As well as putting them under the mattress, I give my bedsocks a rub inside (Winter only). Tbh don't care about the science but it stops me leaping around waking the neighbours, Mr. JC and frightening the dog.
tonyniceday...........one thing I'm not good at is chocolate brownies. They always end up like undercooked sludge. Kudos to you.
Bank holiday in the UK this weekend and its going to be warm and sunny...............seeing is believing.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

This is no proof yet but I just got a couple of hours sleep (going on to nightshift tonight) and not only managed to sleep but no sign of cramps with the soap in position.... JackieClaire Went for the raspberry and almond in the end...it won't win any cake beauty prizes but it tastes damn good.:yay:

This one is not a bank holiday in Scotland....it makes up for Scotland's national hangover day (2nd January)

Raspberry and almond would be my choice too tonyniceday. I just made Banoffee as requested by my son.. we will all roll out of bed tomorrow.
Great news for Jenny JackieClaire, thats a great feather in her cap!

Thats funny that you fall asleep listening to the BBC NoSugar. Our main radio station is RTE1, if you get bored, probably the same news (Brexit) with different accents :haha:

Morning,
Its suspiciously warm outside and its a bank holiday.........could it be we get a bit of garden time this weekend. There have been rumours of a BBQ with the neighbours.
tonyniceday...........I used to be rather jealous of Scotland getting that extra day at New Year........then I got to be drunk every day so it didn't really matter.
IamMary........she's beyond thrilled.
tonyniceday...day 3 :sohappy:.........you'll be feeling the benefits now.

Re: August Army Thread 2019

Well I am feeling some benefit...psychologically I'm shifting from real regret at having slipped so far back, to relief that I'm back on the wagon....Financially I've not been hammering the bank account over the last couple of days and it's instantly noticeable (although I went food shopping yesterday when I was hungry....never a great plan!).... and also my front room and kitchen are now tidy and clean (bedroom and bathroom when I get up this afternoon)

BUT...physically and craving wise it's not so good. I know I should probably go to the Doc but when I lived in the sticks, even if you rang the surgery out of hours, the Doctor himself would answer the phone, and you could go to the surgery without an appointment 5 days a week, here in the city you need to wait around 16 days to get an appointment so I haven't made one as I figure it'll be pointless by then....so mixed improvement so far.

Any way, night night for now....off to bed

Evening all,
Tony I'm not sure how your medical system works there but can you get in to see someone else? Anyone? Do you have medical centres where you can 'walk in' for appointments? It won't be the doctor of your choice but better than nobody.

I might throw a cake of soap into my bed and see what it does for me. Does it suck fat out of you overnight?

I can not wait for a sleep in tomorrow. Off to watch some cheerful true crime then off to Bedfordshire.
Nighty night lovely ones.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Well, Bridge says she doesn't know how our medical system works... byebyebridgetjones NEITHER DO WE!!! lol

Gave up on the Doc and thought I'd chance my arm with my old shrinks office but because I missed appointments last year....need a new referral from the Doctor. However, they did say I could be helped and even referred back to my shrink by the Alcohol and Drugs Advisory service...I rang them and how helpful were they...just amazing and I'm seeing a counsellor tomorrow (yes, Saturday)

tonyniceday...........I feel your pain. Our doctor's doing the ring at 8 am for an appointment, then they're booked so we have to do the 'what about tomorrow?'............no 'next week?'...........no. 'Shall I drop down dead on the floor?' dialogue. Its a farce.
Sadly after over on 60 years ( I was a baby) with the same practice, we're moving to one nearer us who offer a much, much better service.
Happy that you've reconnected with the D&A services again though.

Morning All!
WEEEEEKEEEEEENNNNNND!!!!!:yay:
Slept like a log last night and still up reasonably early to start washing the windows (I actually like this once I get into it)
Going to cook some treats for you all today and leave them in the kitchen. There will be a special yummo treat for JC of her choosing because she gets to relax this weekend after the nuptials.

Tony, that is a pretty astonishing outcome there. I guess the system works sometimes, like ours. I'm so pleased for you. It's so important to get a hand up in the early days, almost as if it's a sign that things really will be OK in the end. Mine was coming back here after years and receiving all of the kindness and understanding I could hope for.

Gord, where is everyone?

We are missing loads recently..
When do your cravings really kick in, at the end of your shift? were you in the habit of having a drink after you finished or would you wait until you got home?
Well done on the appointment tomorrow, keep us posted on how it goes.

Anything exciting happen with the Soap Bridge? (she says in a whisper, because your having a lie on..)

EDIT - except the drinking bit, obviously :haha:

Very quiet Tony one of the reasons we decided to no longer have the steppers thread, there's just a lack of interest in the forum it seems, very sad

My older kids (teens) are starting to comment on my teetotaler status.. nothing much, its more an awareness with them now as they move into that age. Eldest thinks Im totally clueless (he knows everything you see) on booze, drugs etc. If only he knew..how I couldnt survive without them!
