Re: August Army Thread 2019
Well here we are on day 4. Of course I'll report back after seeng the Counsellor. Going to catch a few z's first before heading back to town.
Administrator I'd sort of noticed that nearly all the people who are here were also here when I was last on the site well over a year ago, just a very small number I'd not heard of so, me being me, I did some basic research and using a computer which has never been signed in to MWO I did a number of google searches using different keywords and none of the searches came up with MWO.... I don't think we're easily visible to potential newbies!

Re: August Army Thread 2019
Morning all - sorry for being AWOL.
My next door neighbour & kinda friend of 40 years died aged 64 - very sad.
I'll be blunt here and say the reason the threads are so quiet is that for years people have come to expect a core few to bolster it up as they take hiatus, lurk, read and maybe relapse but not contribute ..... fact.
LET'S FACE IT when you relapse that is when you need support. That's like waiting to go lose weight before you go to Weightwatchers - insanity.
Then come back & expect the same people to be still there ..... how would we feel if they weren't here if we couldn't just pop back in?
I've been doing it myself recently and I for one would be devestated to lose the friends on here if the Army were to cease.
The core team members tire - some earlier than others - but tire of making connections, investing in others only to be left high & dry when they just disappear.
So I will start to contribute again regularly and A CALL OUT TO ALL ARMY MEMBERS get your arses back - you are needed.Last edited by satz123; August 24, 2019, 02:33 AM.

Re: August Army Thread 2019
Funnily enough, Mr. JC's just off to the library.
The political view of the day.........the government bang on and on about reading and our libraries are closing or part-time opening due to funding. A disgrace.
Here endeth the message.
For those of a delicate nature, please look away now...........I've got a flair up of my IBS. Think its down to the stress of the wedding. Funnily enough, I spoke to a woman who was a mother of the groom and she said its a damned sight harder than mother of the bride.
Anyway, I'm here everyday. I may not be able to give mounds of wisdom all the time but believe me. I remember how scared I was to make my first post, the people who reached out to me, some who made me laugh, some who made me cry, some who made me so angry I thought..............right I'm off. But I kept coming back.
Its paying it forward. I don't live a perfect life because I'm sober most of its mundane........but living sober beats what I had hands down.
Lidl calls. Got a £5 off voucher we'll be able to buy a shop full for £30.It could be worse, I could be filing.

mollyka Great to see you here too...I was wondering where you were
Anyway, the Counselling session was actually really helpful and I've found out about a load of things going on in and around town which I'm gonna sift through and go along to one or two to see what there about.
As to the Doctor issue, I've been given a couple of tips as to how to get a same- day appointment...I'll see if they work on Monday
She put a slightly different slant on ODAAT ....telling me that because of the withdrawal, tomorrow (day 5) would be the best day yet !!! May be kidology but I'll be there to find out!
Anyway, got to catch up on some sleep (if I can nod off) ready for work tonightLast edited by tonyniceday; August 24, 2019, 09:11 AM.

Re: August Army Thread 2019
GREAT to see you Molly! Welcome home
Thats a great start tonyniceday and well done on Day 5. Plenty of support now here and over there, your going to nail this.
Sorry to hear about the IBS JackieClaire. Its often the way, isnt it, after a big event or a manic period at work/home, you relax a bit and bang.. you get sick!
I clicked on an ad last night to our (Irish) Drink aware site and it looks like its had a makeover. Ive always thought the UK site was much better, but this is an improvement. HOWEVER, I was quite annoyed when I clicked on the page: how to give up drink completely and not far into the advise, it asks the question, do you really want to give up or just cut back?! there is an entire section on Tips on cutting back, but its almost like the Paddy culture for giving up 'completely' - are you sure about that now? 100%, cos you can just cut back and wouldn't that be grand...

Re: August Army Thread 2019
Thanks for having me back lads - feels nice...! Re. the drinkaware campaign Mary - my gut tells me 'what bloody nonsense' but -- I do reckon there are a good few folks who fall into the 'habit' of drinking too much - circumstances/bereavements/divorce etc. and mebbe -- just mebbe they can - ya know? I'm inclined to tar everyone with my own brush - lad told me 2 years ago at work that he was 'drinking too much' - his wife had just left him - in my head he's been a raving alcoholic ever since -- not a bit of it... he just copped on and moved along.. lucky dog
I think your acknowledgement of your cravings and mental state on day 3-5 Tony is really healthy - my worry as I've said numerous times is about the peeps who say how happy they are to be sober (within the first few weeks or even months) and just aren't honest in themselves - honesty is all that will get us and keep us sober.
I've done a lot of soul searching in the last year and got myself back to early good habits which makes me feel ..oh I dunno - somewhat serene maybe.. it's nice - needed some inward lookin!!!
Hi to Sugarbabe and Pauly back further - oh and well done on getting one of the sprogs married off Jacks!! I'm still waiting haha!!!Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011
