I actually did microwave my phone, Mary. Set my cooled off coffee right on the counter and stuck that soon to be dead phone in there for 30 seconds :eek-new:

Exactly what they all deserve NS.

Unfortunately the third attempt at GW watchage was again scuttled by narcolepsy. I'll have a bacon butty!

Govt trying to raise retirement age here too. Will do the world of good for unemployment, right? We'll all be rolling up at 80 on our zimmer frames and one of JC's ear trumpets screaming 'WHAT GIRLIE?" at the meeting chair at the top of our lungs. Then all fall over our our feet and break our hips, which will help WorkCover liability. Yup.

Will get B12 enroute home. Meeting, gotta go.

HAH!!! Had a little giggle at that one -- won't be me at 80 but I'm working with a newish 'young' one -- young one my ARSE --- she's 35 and living with mammy and daddy and in her first job -- at 35 I had 3 kids a mortgage car loan husband fairly dacent job and was a proper grown up (more grown up than I am now!!) and she literally sneers at 'older' people - as I'm now the oldest (my older pal who's husband was killed is never coming back I guess bless her) the sneer is deffo aimed at me and my ilk --- well as we ALL know -- age comes to us all... so THAT'S YOUR FUTURE LOVE --- will I tell her?

Re. the B12 -- I had blood tests to have it checked and then was on colossal doses for a few months -- not sure but I think it was a couple thousand thingies a day... NS may analyse what the 'thingies' were --- you know -- the thingies on the pack - like 500 thingies in a paracetamol ;-)

My phone has been most places including down a toilet - but nope -- never microwaved

While I'm in favour of choosing when you retire.........but doesn't it depend on the job. It struck me when Mr. JC's hip went asunder back in April............bearing in mind he's 6'4" and is a big lad (he's not over weight for his size) ............what would have happened if the paramedics were way in their late 60s. It took two fairly youngish paramedics a good 15 minutes to get him down the stairs plus another 15 to get him in the ambulance. How long would it have taken them had they been nearer 70...then get to the hospital and the crash team are in their dotage.
Its also blocking jobs for the young ones coming behind...........but there again they could train as ear trumpet specialists or stuck in the Hell that are call centres.

Better throw some clothes on and go and get my hair cut. Its pouring down so the granny boots are making an appearance earlier than planned..........the big field is a quagmire.

[MENTION=8529]mollyka[/MENTION]......goody a game......I only had two kids and a part-time job at 35, ran Brownie pack (but full-time mid-November through December......the wine trade don't you know), one divorce, one re-marriage and a mortgage.
Don't think I could cope with the my kids parking their backsides in our house (unless it was Buckingham Palace) for longer than a couple of days and I'm certainly not becoming an unpaid childminder like two of our neighbours. And when I say childminding they're dropped off at 7:30am and picked up at 6pm.
Shit must run.

Now that is an hilarious mental image. Staggering up the ward clutching your back with pain trying to run with the crash cart and wheezing like a steam engine. Attempting a technical sterile dressing but you can see bugger all and its pure guesswork where the wound is. Medication rounds would be "one for you, one for me". God I could go on and on.

I know our army lads can retire at about 40 or something... janey mac!!

no news - tired this evening - so just had dinner and now feet up. My resident technical expert (NOT!!) - Joe - is now attempting to fix both our broadband and our Sky signal - all based on a 2 and a half hour course he did this morning.... latherin heart.. think I'll have a bit of an early night...

Evening everyone. Don’t blame you Molly, nothing worse than them faffing around. Have a few friends who took early retirement. One was a teacher and the other worked in insurance. Happy out, very full lives, never regretted it. In my job I have to retire at 65 and that’s ok with me as had a 20 year career break. Himself is 60 and says he will leave before 65, we will see. Everyone is different. Have been running around all day so need to have a read back and get something to eat.

Rustop, your part time work is the best of both worlds. I do think that if you have other interests, you'd be happy retiring at any age.
Molly, I wouldnt take it personally about that young one. She sounds disrespectful and is probably rude to everyone.

NS - that made me laugh out loud. My special friend popped his phone into his pants pocket a couple of weeks ago. Forgot that before the phone went in, he'd put in a raw egg to give to his dogger. Cell phone + egg = scrambled phone!! osteroops:

There's a saying here in Greece as far as age goes, Molly - fits your situation perfectly - Where you are, I've been and where I am, you'll be. Looks like that lassie should take a good look at where she'll be in a few years considering she's not accomplished much so far in her life. 35 - first job? Jaysus.

I was checking out B12 yesterday - the article I read said that your body only absorbs about 10 thingies from a 500 thingies dose and minimum requirement is 25 thingies a day so that means we would need at least 1000 thingies to get our daily dose. Of thingies...

Has anyone had major car issues this month? Seriously, everyone I know has had car problems. My car had some major repairs to the tune of 500 euros. My assistant's car suddenly rolled down the street hitting a sliding garage door, doing damage to both, then he discovered that the engine needed 700 yoyos of repair. My sister's car lost it's right front tire in such a way that the car is a write off, Last thing was yesterday I ran into my hairdresser and her car had caught fire while she was driving it. She managed to grab her purse and get out in time buy with singed hair and clothing. Crikey!!!

The usual madness at work but wanted to drop by for a quick Hello! Wishing you all a great day!

Get rid of a few frustrations.

Its Freshers Week up here............lots and lots of students in their first year being followed round by pale-faced mummies & daddies as they're precious little darlings leave home......then as soon as they've pushed off their prescious little darlings are spending their first term student loan on essentials like beer & clothes.
Although up here we don't half get some posh ones.

Apart from trying to soften some butter still with it foil wrapper on in the microwave......makes awful noises.....the best use for the microwave was putting the kids gameboys (remember them) and threatening if they didn't finish their homework I'm put them in their on de-frost. It worked for a while. Turned out they're not daft.

Is that why she still lives with her Mum? Because she's a bit deaf? Or because she's rude and entitled and nobody likes her? Sounds like a knobcloud Molly.

We've just won a 35 million dollar grant at work so the champagne was flowing. Good stuff with trays of good cheese and good everything else. So I was handed a glass of this champies as I walked through the door for the function this arvo and suddenly got very angry that they can afford all of this but not to pay me the correct rate. So I smelt the booze and said 'No thanks it smells like cat's piss' and stalked off. And it does smell like cat's piss you know. I was never in any danger of drinking it and I've become adept at hiding full glasses behind pot plants and sometimes watering them with it.
I bought myself some vitamin B12 so I'll let you know if I'm PhD material in a couple of days. I'm taking 1000 thingies a day so let's roll the dice.
I suppose as it's water soluable you pee most of the thingies out.

No car trouble Stirly and I touch wood. What a bizarre set of accidents though.

yeah - probably cos she's never had a proper job she's still living with mommy....

My dad (get out the tissue's - sort of coal on the back and no shoes story) when he was 17 - finished school and my granny got him an apprenticeship (you could do it that way back then) in the local pharmacy down the country to train as a pharmacist - he stuck his nose up at it and said he wanted to go to university. Granny had 6 kids and Grandad was a policeman - so she showed him the door - if he didn't take the apprenticeship -- on your bike sort of thing.. and he went - and she let him go -
Not saying THAT'S necessarily the way to go --- BUT --- lord jaysus the snowflake generation - they really are well named --

edit - just saw that I xposted you earlier Stirly -- frigging car is due it's NCT -- like a month ago - keep holding off to get over holiday bankruptcy ---love that saying btw!
