Evening everyone. Agree with you Molly, think having it harder is more character building. The snowflakes melt at the slightest inconvenience. I have deaf neighbors and there’s definitely a sense of entitlement or at least the expectation that all they have to do is click their fingers and everyone should be at their beck and call. Had a lovely day with two friends, went on a little jaunt and had nice lunch on the way back. Feet up now for the evening.

Re: September Army Thread
Not going to any bloody Christmas parties either.
Long, draggy Friday here which I am just about to make up for by exploding out of the door at 4pm sharp and into action until gardening Australia at 7.30pm tonight.
I'm going plant hunting to a new market this weekend. If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Morning Bridget and all to come. You lucky thing Bridget, very autumnal here so no gardening for a while. I don’t go to the company Xmas party. Last year went to a load of lunches, much more enjoyable and this year my crochet group are going to the Bay City Rollers. No pressure as a. They are not a drinking group and b. I’ll be driving from the train.
Horrible horrible day here but did get a walk in and now off to my crochet class.

Morning,
Oneto watch....Vikings. BBC iplayer. A documentary with Neil Oliver narrating......fascinating.
Never ever liked champagne...........doesn't matter if it was a tenner a bottle or off the scale expensive. Its bubbly acid...........so why did Iwhen handed a glass. I'm so polite.
Getting a load of flyers about Chrimbo parties here there and everywhere. I shall be partaking of none of them. False jollity does not sit well.
Still have a soft spot for Bay City Rollers although I was more a Black Sabbath girl.
Meeting my pal for lunch today. It could be worse, I could be filing.

The eggy-phone beats my microwaved one, @stirly-girly - I bet the vendor had never heard that one before!
I've found a solution to my knitting problem: I do the knit rows with my left hand and the purl rows with my right. The patterns that hurt my hands have half of each so maybe over time, everything will balance and I won't have any hand pain!
Sometimes I wonder if anyone really likes holiday parties!!

Re: September Army Thread
Had some funny Christmas 'do's' over the years - but always was conscious of potential disaster with bosses etc. present - so maybe had more sense than I thought!
Your 'name' came up in my life today NS -- don't be alarmed!!! It was a borrower who comes into the library - lovely man and we are good pals - but he hurt his back and I remembered the 'exercise' you told me about a few years back when I'd hurt my back and how it was like magic -- so he went off like an eager beaver to try it -- I'll update you on his progress:happy2:
Evening all -- just had smunchy gorgeous dinner and am stuffed -- any news....?? Is the Benjy one due home soon?
ooohhh -- EDIT -- 2nd son (him what REALLY upset me last Sunday) rang Joe today and says to him 'is mum alright? she seemed in bad form on Sunday'-- the little PUP --- unbelievable!! anyway - he's off away for the next while for his job -so will calm down by the time he's back!!Last edited by mollyka; September 27, 2019, 12:27 PM.Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011

Re: September Army Thread
I'm back and in a rage.
The full-time job ( that I already do) they gave to an outsider.
So now I will do just as & what I'm paid for and not try to improve anything, get involved in anything - nothing. In do my job & out.. They can shag the feck off !!!

Rang my phone from Dublin airport & they have it.
My SIL will collect it on Sunday when she flies home after a month long holiday.Last edited by satz123; September 27, 2019, 01:49 PM.

satz123......is it a case of age discrimination?. Smile sweetly, arrive on time and leave the moment your shift's over.
How do you go on holiday for a month? I get homesick after about 9 days into a fortnight away.
mollyka...........why do they do that? The S&H does the same.............the text dad thing to see how mum is I mean. I may have many photos of the inside of my handbag and my feet............but other than that I've been able to use my phone like a big girl for ages. And I know the difference between a gif and meme.
Gardeners World tonight............all about depression/PTSD and just getting out there into your garden. Our Monty suffers from SAD (seasonal affective disorder). Fascinating. Although it'll pouring down all weekend. Do you think just poking my nose out of the back door shouting Bess in is good enough? It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: September Army Thread
Hmm, thats low satz123, but JC is correct, smile then start looking elsewhere. You are very capable, anywhere else would be lucky to have you. And welcome home.
What about those lamps JackieClaire, do they work for SAD? Mr M definitely gets (more) grumpy in the winter months. Hes very much an outdoor person (garden+shed) and hates being stuck inside.
Like you Rustop, I'll drive to the Christmas partys i 'have' to go to. Not living near a bus/train line gives me a great excuse, but people probably think Im awful mean, not forking out €50 for a taxi at Christmas! The bit I am looking forward to is the party bashing we do here the next day, with our fresh faces and pain free heads.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

Re: September Army Thread
Well, Satzy. Isn't that sad? Because no doubt they have no idea what you actually do. And clearly the outsider will be at a disavantage too. Now we all know how bad your memory is these days, Satz. And I have a feeling that it's just about to get a lot worse. Especially on handover day. And nobody should try to tell me that age discrimination is not alive and flourishing in the workplace. F*ck them.
I wonder if that's why Monty is off all the time JC? I have a system in place now. Some wonderful creature called HDClump uploads GW to Dailymotion on the equivalent of our Sunday morning, so I top and tail it with Gardening Australia on Friday night. Propagating tomatoes today for a plant sale to send some students to Tanzania. Hoping some of them won't come back so maybe just enough tom plants to get them a one-way ticket.
House next door is having an open house today. All the whiney children are coming through so hopefully their parents won't bid successfully. Might pop some shorts on my massive arse and bend over in the garden to sort the wheat from the chaff.
I'm off then.If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

I'll need to be very sly with it - & not prove them right.

Also some of those who came for interview were desperate and she probably was able to pay them less money .....
Talking to a few ladies in there who have been there years & years and they were in similar situations.
The last question I was asked at the 'interview' was : " What will you do if you don't get the full-time position - will you leave"??
It smacks of a Constructive Dismissal case to me.
Not sure I want to go down that particular road.
