Re: November 2019: International Army

Morning,
Forgot to mention on Saturday we went to a very special first birthday party..............Cafe Beam - Smile For Life

Big question of the day...........how many of us remember lying on the floor 'til we were blue in the face trying to get the zip up on our jeans?
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Evening All,
I think I was there 1987/88 then 1993ish. I thought I recognised you all.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Morning Army from upstate New York! Winter storm warnings have been posted and some parts of the state could get up to a foot of snow!:grumpy:

You're right IamMary....New York is a big state with so much to do outside of the city, but many people never venture that far!
JackieClaire...I certainly remember trying to stuff myself into my jeans. So sad that we traded fashion for breathing!

Afternoon all.
Just killing time until I have to go into work for just a 4 hour shift.
Non Happy Clappy post alert :
Not to be insensitive but apart the projectile vomiting with the Norovirus bug - that has us closed for last 2 weeks to visitors - the poor residents are dropping off like flies this year. Last year we lost no-one in Nov / Dec. / Jan. This year 3 have gone this month alone.

It's a cliche but it's 'happy release' for some of them - they are tired & weary of the daily pain and lack of dignity with regard to personal stuff. Some that can still express it will tell you out straight they wish they were gone.

Even me old pal Paddy has now a cancerous growth on his neck that he refuses to have treatment for. Says he'll end his days in comfort in the home - having his smokes and drinking tea. - a lot to be said for it.
Paddy moved in when he was only 53 due to episodes of aggression & dementia caused by excess alcohol. That was his way of quitting.
All he has now are his cigarettes. He's 76.

I can remember having the most GORGEOUS pair of black velvet jeans. Size 10 ( US 6)
I had to lay on the bed to get them zipped up. I'm not joking when I say they fitted me for about 20 minutes in 1978 :haha:
They restricted the blood flow to my brain ........

God bless the inventor of the addition of lycra to other materials like denim ray:

Meanwhile back at Satzville:
Rosie was not getting attention last night & chewed my good shoes. We are now not on speaking terms.

Spot the difference where I had to trim away the chewed bits ::cuss:

I remember flat on the bed trying to zip up the jeans for sure. I watched a friend hook a wire coat hanger in the zipper so she could get more traction.

I'm scared that high waisted pants are back.

And that makes sense, Satz. Wanting to die without a bunch of tubes.

oh I love the high-waisted ones Pav -- think they hide a multitude! yup I remember lying down and the hanger trick -- do you remember the 'Its a beautiful day' boutique Benjy -- off Grafton St? They had THE best jeans in the world! it was HEAVEN in that tiny little shop...
Howdy all else - sorry been a bit missing - pulled my big girl pants on and stopped moaning.. sort of.... avoided R today as best I could - and I saw in the attendance book that she isn't in tomorrow so happy days!!!

Feet up now after a lovely warm beef stew I shall now read back somewhat further... loads to read these days -- it's brilliant!

Evening everyone. Feet up too but I had chicken casserole. There is the most amazing full moon tonight but it is Baltic. Poor Satz, feel for you, shoes still look ok, you would have to look very closely to notice. I have another foster puppy here. Has been very very sick so fingers crossed. Better watch my shoes though, lol.

Lots of curtain-twitching going on around these parts............three cop cars outside one of the houses...........down to just one now.
Nearly needed an ambulance but that would have been for me as I nearly fell out of the bedroom window being nosey.
Nearest thing we get to a kerfuffle round here is if someone put some thing in the wrong re-cycling bin.

Update they've gone so I'd better feed the dog.

Uncanny :haha:

Yes to skinny non lycra skin tight jeans that had to be peeled off.. Also went through a Goth phase, docs with long pencil skirts made out of heavy curtain fabric that we would sew back together after once on. Peeing was not an option.

satz123, so Paddy is there 23 years! Is he sober all that time and did his dementia get worse?

Molly, enjoy tomorrow without your wan.. Strikes expected at our place Its starting to get messy and both sides not talking yet.
