Re: November 2019: International Army
Good morning JC, same here, nothing too much happening but at least not recovering from a hangover. Horrible horrible morning though, could not get out for a walk. SIL and BIL coming to stay as she has a hospital appointment tomorrow. Better get the spare room ready, also puppy sitting so getting anything done is challenging.

Are you a thread killer Nora!!
Its the calm before the storm, we will all be back here ranting and raving when the stress of Christmas and presents and 3rd cousins twice removes coming to stay.. is upon us.
So Industrial action has ceased in work, from 5 this evening. Talks will begin again, so all is well.

Re: November 2019: International Army
Morning all!
Another mental 3 days at the coal face. Quite exciting though. The work sitch has developed a bit more and I have been given the opportunity to completely step away from a management role alltogether. Although origninally they said I would be retaining the escalated complaints with the financial ombudsman service and the management of external repossession agents, they then asked if I wanted to just keep the complaints side. It was weird because it is like slowly saying goodbye to a career but ultimately I think for me its the right thing. I am now just going to keep the complaints and hand over all the management to the guy who is taking over the team. I will also support him as he doesnt know the role. This suits me massively as a) I really like the guy who will take over and b) I will be able to have more time to do a better job with the complaints part of my old role. It also gives me the opportunity to reduce hours further in the future if I want to or work from home. The downsides are that I will never get another rise because although they are not reducing my salary, I am at the top of the payscale for the management role and I will not be managing any more. This year having cut down hours has helped with my sobriety so I KNOW that constant work stress does affect me badly and has not helped me stay away from the pills and booze. 2020 looks to be a much better year for me and I feel excited for the first time in a very very long time.

Re: November 2019: International Army
Starty, that's awesome. I hope we all get some good feels about 2020. I think a nice year might be in order. Will this get you away from the idiots and closer to the kind of people you want to be working with?
Glad to report that the relative's property fire is out. It came dangerously close to the house but missed. Took out a large portion of the land, which is thousands of hectares, and loads of fences which will hopefully be covered by insurance. I'm sure they will find a heartbreaking amount of dead wildlife but everyone else is safe.
We've also been hearing news of a shake up at work. One of the key players in what can be referred to as thinly masked corrupt activity is on the skids. Hopefully he has been saving some of his 300K plus pa for a rainy day, because it's here.Last edited by byebyebridgetjones; November 21, 2019, 02:44 AM.If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

Sorry, another quickie as I'm meeting my pal in town that's fallen off the wagon again and I've forgotten my pin number again. Worst thing is I have them under a sort of code on my phone and I've forgotten that as well.
Promise a longer post later. Lots going on in all our lives. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: November 2019: International Army
Hi-de-hi,
starty...........wonderful news. Embrace the change and no pay rises........Aldi & Lidl save the day. Saw us nicely through our IVA years.
byebyebridgetjones...........happy that the house has been saved but its going to be a long slog back to some kind of normal. Honestly I'm so hacked off at the whinging transport people..............its November, its cold, its wet, its Autumn, public transport..............leaves come off trees they tend to do that especially this time of year........so why do we hear every year............'sorry for the delay there are leaves on the track'.
Our town's Christmas market has started............lets put it this way. Its not Prague..........I could do better with a bit of tinsel, four cans of lager and a packet of instant noodles in the back garden.
I did go to the Bruge Christmas market one year and tbh it was all a bit of a blur. 9 am with some frites and mayonnaise with a large brandy to start the day was just the start of a 24-hour binge. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: November 2019: International Army
Good evening all - and special good evening to lovely Nora... as IF you could kill a thread!!!! Like the others say it ebbs and flows - mainly down to people like me who disappear for days without excuse - I'm sorry - just licking my wounds a bit and doing Christmas shopping.. Took a half day today and got most everything done.. delighted with myself - I've to work right up to Christmas Eve cos it's our busy time so yeah -- done and dusted bar the shouting.
How's everyone doing? Sounds good Starty - personally I think 'management' is way over-rated - particularly in our 50's or 60's - it's time to be able to wind down.. suits me fine anyway!! So glad those 'important' days are over:welldone:
