I've only just dumped the navy shoes you told me to buy in Clarkes Molls. You said "buy those - you will wear them to death".
I think my brain took that as more and order than a prediction because I did indeed wear them till they fell off and got lots of compliments when I did wear them.
Funny the things you remember.

Not sure if I bored everyone else with this - but in a nutshell - mate of ours (him and his wife were part of our 'drinking' gang ) ended up with major drinking problems after his wife died.. ended up in Aiseiri a few weeks back - got out and was straight back on the sauce.. in the meantime - another friend of ours - we'll call him R (not to be confused with my nemesis R at work!!) has an apt in Spain and suggested the three of them go over there to give our drinking mate a break (R thinks he's on the dry - but he texted Joe yesterday to tell him he couldn't even go to the coffee shop cos he had the mother of all relapses) I really really tried to say it was a bad idea - and Joe agreed - but in the meantime R has now booked all the flights and Joe can't leave him to mind him on his own -- so he said he'll go over and try and help out... NIGHTMARE!!!

We obviously respect each others opinions
It was a special few days indeed. I remember the fish & chips, the big Angel of the North, the Castle, Bess, yummy Indian food in Jacks house.
Isn't it wonderful to remember such detail instead of just a blur of pubs.

Jesus - they'll spend their time babysitting him. WORST idea ever.
Fine if he was trying & needed help to stay sober - but he's not going to get sober on a jolly to Spain.
He really hasn't earned a freebie to Spain IMO Molls.

Oh I agree and yes - that was a lovely time... and like we were talking about recently - I still find myself having to re-read books - re-view movies - re-visit places that I may as well never have done the first time round.. if I'd just stayed at home with a bottle it would have been a hell of a lot cheaper than travelling to all the European capitals which quite frankly were really just an excuse for going on the piss!

Who are you telling Benjy!!! It's ridiculous - but I do see Joe's point not to leave it all on poor R's shoulders if they are going to go anyway -- R still thinks 'sure he can have a couple of pints with me if he wants to' --- think he's going to have his eyes opened!!!

satz123..crikey those few days.....you even managed to meet my optician. Me and you gazing sitting on a wall looking over the wonderful scenery of the Northumbria country side and Molly & Mr JC looking at plaques.
@ mollyka........I'll send Mr. JC with you. After his law degree, he did his law exams in Chester.Hiis Aunt & Uncle and Granny lived just outside for donkey's years.
You and him can look at plaques all of the four days with added bonus of the tale of the day he got six winners at Chester Horse Races. He'd think he'd died and gone to Heaven having someone who actually listens.
You know when the Angel of the North was proposed there was a right carry on as it was 'modern' art. If we've been anywhere down south seeing the angel means we're only about 15 minutes from home and it makes my heart smile........sorry gone a bit soppy.
If anyone's wondering what I'm babbling about here's a link..........Angel of the North: The icon that was nearly never built - BBC News
Bamburgh's my favourite place, though.
So happy that you enjoyed it. We're a proud crew us geordies.
You're more than welcome for a return visit as long as you gasp (in a nice way)at my new kitchen floor and kitchen.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

Joe's a nice bloke and its unfair that this has been dropped in his lap...........its a fait accompli.
Am I dreadful in thinking this lad might be too drunk they won't allow him to board the plane?

I knew he had a problem when he was reading a plaque when I had to tell him it was a fire extinguisher, not an exhibit.

Evening,
Thats some burden for Joe, Molly... when are they supposed to be off?

X post about caring for parents satz123. We are not there yet (3 our of 4 fully mobile and independent), but already opinions are being thrown around. I dont think you can plan these things in advance, there are too many factors.
I always found that working partime was nearly worse that full time NoraC.. theres an expectation on both sides that you'll give 100% to both..

I was the dedicated driver last night. Eldest was babysitting so I didnt want to stay too late (plus it was an excuse to leave early). Felt like a right party pooper when I announced I was going at 12.30, everyone left at the same time and the hosts were not very impressed! Couldnt sleep then for hours. Had planned to take the train to Galway with my girls this morning and we missed it :hopelessness:.. Thats the end of my Sunday moan now :happy2:
No.. last moan.. Im tired and cranky today, feels like a hangover. Thanks be to jaysus i gave up the booze, even this mild reminder send shivers down my spine.
AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:

What brought on the relapse do you think? Are you armed with a good plan for the next few weeks?
