Re: November 2019: International Army
Later check-in than Mers.:egad:
My jet lag wasn't helped by the overnight free drink flight fest on the flight from Boston & the three hour from 6am waiting for the connection to get back up north from Heathrow. Who knew that the bars there are open 24 hours............seemed rude at the time not to take full advantage.
Back to blood giving...........Mr JC gets his back after they've seperated the plasma out. No idea how they do it but he always gets extra tea and biscuits so it must be really complicated.
There'll be no guided tours just yet.............horror of horrors we found a teeny tiny scratch in the painting and now so the opening of JC mansion will be delayed 'til march............unless Bridgeeeeeeeeee can get her new beau Steve round here with a paint brush. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: November 2019: International Army
I read back & had so much to comment and now I've forgotten most of it.
Ok - were JC & Mary both in the United States recently?
Trump Dump - yeah - you got that right. The fact that his behavior is applauded just makes my heart hurt. In addition to all the horrible political decisions, it is the fact that people think it is ok when he belittles people, ridicules, lies.
NoSugar - I have worked so had to reach that level of insight and inner peace. But, I'm not quite there yet.
JC - I always think of you when I see Winnie the Pooh.
Molly - I am sorry about your job situation. I understand how hard it can be dealing with all of that day in & day out. It's hard - it just takes so much out of you.
I decided that I was taking early retirement. I will be retiring at 62. It just wasn't worth my mental health. I realized that nothing was going to change so there was no use butting my head against the wall anymore. That helped me somewhat just knowing that the end was near. Now, it's only 1 year and a couple weeks away. Thank goodness. Of course, now I might be taking off on medical leave before that if I can't get my health (fibromyalgia, etc) under control. We actually just got hubby signed up for Medicare insurance today. I am getting all my ducks in a row I hope.
Well, now that I've finished my rant I can't remember everything I was going to comment on. Going to post this while I read back again :smiles:"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Bridge - loved your greenhouse!
I stopped eating beef during the mad cow time. Then ended up stopping all meat. I never even knew that there was an issue with giving blood. Is it only if you lived in a certain place? Now I'm curious. Ha ha
Jude - I didn't realize you were in the country. How nice.
Waves to everyone. :checkin:"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.".....Carol Burnett

Re: November 2019: International Army
Morning all!
I was probably hanging round the Kings Road in the 90's Mr G! So you may well have seen me on the circle line in some weird and wonderful attire :haha: In those days I was more about the powder than booze I think. Although I drank it was not much. I think drink kicked in when I stopped taking illegal drugs. Typical example of swapping one addiction for another.
I avoid social situations like the plague. It does make me a bit isolated but even when drinking I preferred to do it at home. Probably if I had kids it would have been different and I would have needed to socialise more. Funnily enough if dogs are in the picture I can talk to folk all day and am happy to but banal small talk leaves me cold.
I am defo happiest either pottering about at home, or out walking thinking of little projects.

Re: November 2019: International Army
Good morning everyone. I’m like you Nora, read back and then have forgotten what I want to say when I start posting. Mary is just back from NY, (loved the dump, trump comment) JC was there in the past. Just back from the west and had a lovely few days. So sorry about the work situation Molly and you too Nora. As I only work the two days I am not there long enough to get embroiled in anything.
Not a lot planned for today. Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Re: November 2019: International Army
We didn't go into town for the Remembrance Service...............watched it on TV. The Queen's not looking bad for 93 years old she reminds me of my mother-in-law (she's 94)..........a strong woman.
Always brings a tear to my eye as I remember back in the 1970s my Dad being so excited being asked to attend the service at the cenotaph and doing the march past.
NoraC............we were over your way 2008. The jet lag didn't affect Mr JC at all.
Wish I knew why I have such a soft spot Winnie the Pooh and his crew..............could it be they're such a mish-mash of friends it reminds me of us lot.
And now we're off to the excitement of looking a kitchen flooring (again). What's the betting we come home with a house plant and some cushions. It could be worse, I could be filing.

Re: November 2019: International Army
Winnie and his pals are my favorite, too, JC - both classic and Disney. They are a random bunch who get along and are generally kind to one another. Even Rabbit eventually comes around.
Some of you guys have me beat - I’ve never been to NYC. I know I’m missing things but I’d rather be playing in the dirt in Bridgette’s little greenhouse.
Nora, ‘inner peace’ cracked me up, I think it is more like your choice to retire. Sometimes you have to do something, or plan to do something, to make a situation tolerable. I’m glad the end is in sight for you and I hope you start feeling physically better soon, xx

Afternoon all.

Don't waste another year of your life there  - leave now - you'll survive.
I'm living on fresh air now and 12 euro an hour part-time as my state pension will not kick in for 2 years. But feck it I was spending too much on crap anyway. I'm better off poor :haha:
IamMary - thanks for asking - mother is stable and has been for ages. This is the woman they said wouldn't last till Christmas '18 :egad:
Amazing how dementia & a 'no worry existence' can do wonders for the health .....
It helps too that time is non-existent in her world - every day is a new adventure When we call up to see her it's like she hasn't seen us for ages & is thrilled ...Last edited by satz123; November 10, 2019, 12:04 PM.

Oh, I HATE the drunk close talkers now. It makes me bored and uncomfortable.

Re: November 2019: International Army
Hola friends,
Had a drunk close talker last night. A lovely mature age woman at heart with a husband somewhere, but she went to plant a somewhat inappropriate longish smooch on me lips in her inebriated exhuberance. Er, easy lady!
Pav, i think i remember you. You were sitting across from me on the tube wearing leather and studs, spiky hair and a 'fuck the system' t-shirt. Or was that JC?
Have a beaut week all.

Yes Mr G, we fucked the system in the 80s, by the 90s some of us were conforming! (I was only a student then mind you, so not me )
Im not sure where you are in the States NoSugar, but the size of NY state alone is breathtaking, Im not surprised you havnt been!
Its one thing to look at it on a map, but you get a proper feel for it when your there. It must be almost double the size of Ireland! We can do coast to coast in 2 hours.. We hiked and explored outside the city and it was beautiful.
Season 3, last episode of Golaith. Brilliant.Last edited by IamMary; November 10, 2019, 06:00 PM.AF - July 19th 2015 :happy2:
