Re: December 2019: International Army

14°F and snowing here in Upstate New York, but I can't complain. I'd much rather deal with frigid temperatures, than out of control wild fires! Stay safe Bridget.....

Nora....I think that you're smart to ease into retirement, and hopefully, I can do the same within a years time.

Waves to everyone in the Army!

Yes, where did you run off to techie???

Evening All,
I just had the best, most productive first day of holibags.

No the fires aren't near us yet thank God but the smoke has travelled further than you would ever think and asthmatics can't go outside. I didn't bother with much dusting today because of all the ash blowing through. When you wake up it smells like some idiot has lit a fire in my back yard. That's how strong it is all over the place. PLEASE send us some RAIN!! The poor bloody firefighters.
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

That is the simplest and truest part of all of this. Reading that sentence just made me feel really good.

It would be so easy to let the random thoughts grow legs at this time of year. Like any time of year is a good time to start drinking again. Just finished work for the year? No excuse. Christmas? Old drinking buddy around for the season? No excuse. Don't have to go to work tomorow? No excuse, got loads of other things to acheive. Nobody would know? I would. No excuse.

Bridget, I'm glad the fires aren't close to you but I know how awful that smoke can be! Almost makes you feel sick from not being able to breathe right Nora, loved the not ever taking that first sip you posted, waves to the Army, sounds like everyone is good although a little overwhelmed with family and the holidays, I'm feeling it here too but we'll get through, have a fabulous day all!
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

Just back from Aldi..........hardly anyone there. The food shopping is done and put away in less than two hours and half the price of the big shops...The lad on till even helped us unpack our trolly...... A big :check: to them.

byebyebridgetjones.....breaks my heart about the fire-fighters and their families. We've got a good mate who's not long retired from the service.......he tells us the fun side but never the talks of the tragedies.

Don't even start me on that shit head Molly.

I love ALDI, JC. Apart from the end where it's this dreadful race that you didn't sign up for and you're supposed to have six hands to get it done at warp speed and all are glaring at you if you don't. I know people who will not shop there because of the stress of the checkout race.

Pauly, just make Christmas your own. There's way too much pressure applied about some guy's birthday. He might not even have been a guy. This is exactly the kind of flamboyant overkill that a critically high maintenance woman would expect. So I suspect that Jesus was a woman. Probably a lot of botox, red nails and six inch heels involved. Anyway, you get my point.

The dog an I are on the deck with a bucket of coffee. We're probs staying here forever.

I really feel sorry for anyone who is not able-bodied or the elderly. It would be impossible to shop there ....

I was in Aldi today too... It was the opposite of JCs shop, jam packed.
Refusing to get stressed BUT the only Santa believer left is not going to get what she asked for. A billie Eilish hoodie. Out of stock everywhere. Took a chance on a fake one on etsy, shipped a couple of weeks ago (from the US to my brothers in NY) but the fecker has shut down the shop and no sign of the hoodie!

I will think of something.

Molly, I thought you have done all your shopping?

Great post Nora.
Agree also JC - A few letters after ones name gives people the illusion of thinking they know everything. But sure we all tried to hold onto that theory, until we couldnt.

Permanent image of Jesus as a high maintenance drag queen now, thanks for that Bridge.

Can you put it up on Facebook? Ask if anyone has found stash? Has a spare one wrong size etc? Someone always knows something!

Morning and coeeeee to the world.
IamMary...............how's about a personal letter to her from Santa full of apologies, he blames one of the elves, one of his reindeer has a sore leg so pressy will be delayed, a promise that it will be delivered and a very rare a letter from him will arrive after Chrimbo to let her know when she'll get it........... shove 20 yoyos just for her to spend only on herself to keep her going.
Think we hit just right last night..........heard of Black Eye Friday for the first time yesterday. Apperently last Friday before Christmas is when everyone in the drinking world go out on the town and gets rat-arsed and start taking lumps out of each other. So most of the supermarkets are dead quiet.

Hello again Army and thank you all for welcoming me back!!

I’m on a boat somewhere on a Norwegian fjord at the moment - totally beautiful and quiet and it sure beats the pre-Xmas stress of food shopping, present buying and people melt downs. Sending peace and quiet vibes to everyone that needs them to get through the next week!! And I wish I could send a few mega buckets of water to NSW as well. Norway is unbelievably beautiful and I’m so happy to be here. We leave here on Monday for Amsterdam which is where we will spend Xmas. We have 10 days there and I’m looking forward to not living out of a suitcase for a few days!

Molly - you have a good heart. As much as we all know that this bloke can only do it if his heart is in it, some people only seem to get it when they realise that someone else believes in them more than they believe in themselves.

Mary - good idea about the letter from Santa!! We were in Santa Claus’ neighbourhood a couple of weeks ago and I sent postcards from the official Santa Claus post office ...... it was originally intended for the kids and grandkids of family and close friends but I stupidly mentioned it at work and in the end I sent off 71 postcards to people in Australia, NZ, USA, Vietnam, Brazil, India and Samoa!! It cost me a fortune, but I had fun making up stories from Santa about elves and reindeer 😁😁. And then this morning I started to get emails from friends whose postcards had been delivered and telling me how much their kids and grandkids had got a buzz out of it, so that felt nice and heart warming!!

Anyway about to get off this boat and onto a bus that will take us back to Bergen - probably won’t see much because when I booked this trip I managed to book it for the shortest day!!
Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn
