Re: December 2019: International Army

Merry, merry Christmas to Army and visitors!!

Had a lovely day with younger son and his boy which included Christmas dinner at friends' home. Lots of food, music and laughter. Going to the mountains tomorrow with my special friend and getting together with older son and girls on Friday. All in all, a lovely time to be had. And five days off work to rest and enjoy.

Great to see you Tabbers (a.k.a. KTAB)- hope all is well with you.

Bridge - glad to hear you got rain!

Hope you have all had a wonderful day with family and friends and continue to enjoy the holiday season!!

AWFUL lot of work . 2 days of prep & it's all eaten in 30 minutes. The beast that was our turkey weighed 8 kilo- same as Rosie :haha: & we barely made a dent in it.

This will be the last year as the youngest is bearly hanging on (although she slept with her sister because the idea of Santa breaking in freaks her out).
I think this is a normal reaction of an intelligent child Mers. We must have been awful thick to think it was ok for an old man with a beard to come into
the bedroom ?

True Satz.. ah its still a bit of magic.
How did it go today? YS drinking ?

As Bridge said, another Christmas day in the bag. Well done us :sohappy:. Had a sniff of some red wine, don't know why I did that, just because it was there. God, it would be so easy to slip back into it. Looked at my folks and Mr M, all enjoying a glass. But the problem is, I wouldnt really enjoy it, Id be planning the next glass and the one after that and after that. No more sniffing...

A late one for me.
Neeeeeeed some alone time. Got 12 for lunch tomorrow but its just leftovers and nibbly stuff and I've got Jenny here (who's upstairs panicking at the moment because the NEXT sale website has crashed and she's got money to burn) to help give me a hand and Mr. JC does what he's told

Lovely, lovely day all very gentle. Not a lot of booze drank and only sniffed one of Ads. It was a craft beer which was supposed to taste like jaffa cakes. Have to say it did smell of chocolate and oranges.

I'll leave a nice coffee and a couple of bagels & cheese out for Bridgeeeeeeeee's brekkie and wishing you all a good night's sleep.

Evening All,
Thanks for the supper JC!
I'm glad you've all had a lovely day.
Molly those are terrifying odds with your group of friends. Bloody alcohol.

Boxing Day always feels a bit boring. I'm not used to having a lot of down time and struggle not to write a big To Do list for the day. We'll get there.

Plans for the weekend anyone?

Morning,
The good news is that a rather high percentage of younger people are cottoning on to not drinking at all. I'll find the article at a later date. I did find it the other day but didn't bookmark it.
More left overs for you, Bridgeeeeeeeee, tonight or breakfast or both.
Jenny & Ads are taking Buddy the Beagle on the big dog walk down at the coast (Tynemouth) with my cousin and her dog, Freddie.
Another feeding frenzy today.....rumour has it my brother and his missus and two collies may turn up. That would make 14 adults and 4 dogs.

Then its take out food for the rest of the year.

'Boxing Day' is actually St Stephen's Day here in holy Ireland.
Not doing a tap today.
byebyebridgetjones my WW points went out the window yesterday - I'm in a minus weekly figure that has to be paid back. :egad:
I binged on the Quality Street chocolates - one after the other like a true addict.
We can say "ahhh it's Christmas " all we like - but it's scary the way I was eating that chocolate ..... doing something I know I'll regret but not being able to stop. Sound familiar ?

Evening folks - nice sunny Stephens Day here.. we'd have been BEATIN round the place (not literally haha) if we said 'Boxing Day'... My Dad said it was creeping imperialism if a commentator on tele used the expression
Was planning a lovely lazy day but the little darlinks decided to visit... ach - it was nice.... just sodding tired and back to work tomorrow...

Any news folks? How did your day go?

Morning All,
No Idea where 'Boxing Day' came from. It's just always been that.
Taking my Mum out shopping today. I'll try to skirt around the most hectic places for everyone's sake! I'm really looking forward to getting out and doing something different though.
Not sure if I mentioned it here but I've been taking Vitamin B12 supplements for months now and they finally kicked in about 2 weeks ago. They are really making all the difference energy wise if anyone has thier suspicions. If you are taking anything for acid reflux in the 'proton pump inhibitor' family - Somac (Pantoprazole) for example - then be aware that a side effect can be B12 deficiency. I particularly say this as alkis tend to rip up our digestive systems and end up on these meds.

I used to love NEXT, JC. Used to be a really good quality brand.

I did EXACTLY the same thing. Jamming them into my gob like a 2 year old. Pretty obvious that it's the same well-worn neural path. I jumped on the scales to face the music this morning and got exactly what I deserved as well. Back on track we go, Satzy! I made some very low point food last night and will be main-lining that for the rest of my holidays. Not going to let Christmas derail me. Or anything else.

Basically Boxing Day is the day the masters gave us plebs a Christmas pressie. Usually food in a box to take home to our fellow starving plebs. Started around 1812.
Now they just give us a day off but the Scots swapped it for the day off after New Year's Day as we know they're all alcoholics and need another day of singing Auld Lang Sine and eating haggis and sobering up. Stereotyping at its best there
Jenny and her partner, Ads, went to NEXT this morning.............scorch marks across the big field in their haste...............comment............heap of crap in the sale.
I love their jeans though.

My evil plan turned out not evil but one lovely and unexpected hoot all afternoon. Even DIL turned up .......S&H at work so sent her home with food.
We're doing it again next year.

My innards have definitely been affected by years of drinking. They used to shovel B12 down us when I did my de-toxes. Its just dawned on me where my IBS started.
It could be worse, I could be filing.

How was the dil JackieClaire? sounds like a lovely day (Thought I was the only sniffer here!)
Love St Stephens day, no cooking, cleaning or anywhere to go because the country is still closed. Maybe Next was open. I did that 5am thing one year and NEVER again.

You obviously didn't have Liam for dinner Molls with only that much booze taken...
I always start taking Vitamins then forget all about them. Vit D is another one that we should all be taking, isnt it, well over this neck of the woods anyway.

We are doing a 'Rustop' tomorrow, going for a hike - kids not very enthusiastic, strange that.
